  1. Feeling your pain. I've never recommended a product, but personally I've always used Find Any File (Tempel.org). Lightweight, no crud installed, intuitive GUI. Knocks spots off of Spotlight. It used to be free (I've been using it for 5 years). They've recently started charging Β£/$6.0 (well worth it). Finds absolutely anything, anywhere (invisible files including). Just be careful what you delete! Some search terms can return things you SHOUDN'T. Just be cautious. I searched for Codesign and it returned all the crud. Select, delete. Did the same for V-Pan. Can be downloaded here: https://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/. A real shame its Codesign – I would have liked to have tried this. Hey ho! ,-)
  2. Solved (I hope): In the end (after wasting a couple of hours in pointless calls to Apple's outsourced script-readers), I bit the bullet and imported an old plist file from my MBPro, overwrote the Mac Studio one, and crossed my fingers. So far so good..yay! Thanks everyone for helping out. Not sure whether to mark Jordi's post as the solution. It was indeed the plist, and although trashing it didn't help – switching it out did. Bonebones: Thanks for the suggestion; however, I never use Cloud storage in relation to music. πŸ˜‰
  3. Yep, you're right. On the case. Thanks again to everyone. I'll report back.
  4. I guess first port of call will be to reinstall the OS. At least that would mean not reinstalling 'everything' again. After, and as you say, a call to Apple before the warranty runs out. I'm beginning to worry what else might be missing! At this price you don't expect to get a lemon ,-) I deliberately have everything turned off in Sharing, Siri, and all the other pulp forced on us. I 'think' I've got used navigating the 'desktop iPhone' Sys Prefs, but maybe there's something I'm locking down that could cause this? On another side-note, it seems you have to close System Preferences (often having to force-quit) before any changes take effect: particularly in the Firewall and removing uninvited Launch Agents (I'm looking at you, NI, Avid and Apogee). ,-)
  5. Thanks for the input everyone! Jordi: Opened up ~/.../.../com.apple.logic10.plist ↓ NSRecentDocumentsLimit was missing. Trashed prefs, rebooted. Opened various projects, made small changes for each and saved them. Closed LPX. Still no recents upon reopening. ↓ Also, still no NSRecentDocumentsLimit in the new plist. I'll replace the previous plist (unless that's a bad idea?). ↓ As a side note, there's also no Menu item for Recents in the menu bar (or is that a thing now?) Loukash: Thanks for the download link. Nice little app! Currently rebuilding Spotlight, so we'll see. Used to use Onyx back Leopard/Snow Leopard, but these days I prefer the reinstall option). Fisherking: To add to the conundrum, I'm missing the 'Recent documents, applications, and servers' entry you referred to in Control Centre. That can't be right. New Mac Studio, pre-installed OS, very strict install policy. Perhaps it's something that needs to be 'allowed before it appears? ↓
  6. Slightly annoying, but the extremely useful 'Recent Projects' list never seems to get populated. Is this a bug, or am I missing something? New machine, fresh everything, etc. macOS 13.6.1, Logic 10.7.9 Thanks.
  7. Des99, you are a star, Sir! If I was just around the corner I'd buy you a drink – Hell, I'd buy you 10... Thank you for such a knowledgable, helpful, and non-judgemental reply. If all forum posts were like yours, the world would be a more informed place. I salute you. Interesting to know that this is a long-standing problem – I've been running Mojave 10.4.6 until now, and though it's had it's fair share of hiccups, this particular one hadn't raised it's head. The only plugins installed to date are Melodyne Studio 5, Revoice Pro4, Soundtoys 5, S-gear and Metric Halo's Production Bundle, all of which failed to set the correct icon. As you say, copy-paste would probably be the simplest route, but I'll try the terminal route you suggested first. If I mess up, I can simply erase and reinstall. If I do take the copy-paste route, perhaps I could copy from the Mojave backup – or would that be considered bad practice? I keep Image2icon handy for custom icons and coloured folder icons. Helps me to organise/search more effectively – less time faffing about, more time working. However, ideally, I'd rather have a fresh install of everything rather than port anything over. Call it that 'once-in-in-a-blue-moon' spring-clean. On that note, I understand from your reply that this is essentially a 3rd-party error rather than an OS install concern, and that another fresh install of Monterey is unlikely to help. I keep a partitioned external SSD aside with bootable installers from sierra to Ventura, though in this case (yesterday) I erased MacHD before clean installing from Apple's Server. Can problems be introduced when downloading/installing from a server? If so, would using a bootable installer and updating from there be preferable? Thanks again Des99. Legend!
  8. I shouldn't need to, but since you read in my first reply you'll know why I do. It was a satirical comment. Wasn't looking to trigger any iFans πŸ˜‰. (Totally agree with you about Siri, though). Apple do indeed move forward, without mending the trail of bugs they leave behind. We don;t need a new version every year for the shareholders, we need one that 'just works'. Perhaps, but since I've only just this day clean-installed the new OS, reinstalling will be virtually zero work and will not affect anything negatively. The few plug-ins I have installed are working fine for Logic, which I use principally for composition. There are other daws out there, and a large percentage of professional musicians/engineers use a combination of various DAWS. I'm yet to install Pro Tools, Reaper and CuBase. Since I haven't loaded anything important, I'l just reinstall. I was simply trying to ascertain whether the missing icons was a default macOS 12.6.2, a bug in Logic, or some other critter. I'll live! It is indeed just a cosmetic thing (I hope). You, sir, have your Feng shui... and I have mine. I think we can close this one. Thanks anyway, Dave, and Merry Christmas!
  9. Too much to go into here. 🧐 So something is perhaps amiss with the install, since you say you have plugin icons (I have none). I prefer Icon view - go figure. In Mojave I was constantly in the component/AAX folders (also in Application support folders) correcting bad permission settings on upgrade/update installs – iZotope is a classic for that. At least, for me. I'll know if 'All' the plugins work as and when I can find the down time to test them 'all'. ,-) On the other hand, perhaps a new clean install will remedy the problem. Thanks for chiming in, fella. πŸ™‚
  10. Not sure if this is really apt for a Logic forum, but since it concerns AU Components, I'll post anyway. Feel free to delete/move/exorcise/burn David ,-) Trying out macOS Monterey 12.6.2 on a workhorse 2018 MBPro before committing to a studio upgrade. Whilst installing a bunch of random plugins, I noticed that the icons in Library/Audio/Plugins/Components are missing, they all sport generic folders and blank docs. Frankly, I'm not concerned so much with losing a few Perhaps someone with the same OS could confirm whether this is (yet another) backward step from Apple, or whether I'm looking at the first lover's tiff in an unhappy romance with Monterey. PS: The AAX plugins are showing their usual icons.
  11. Wow, just noticed – Ten years here and I'm still a 'Newbie'. Guess some people grow old quickly.... whilst others stay eternally young. Hehe.. πŸ€˜πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘Œ

  13. For anyone who 'is certain beyond doubt'. Having run the latest security update, any plugin I now install omits admin and ~//user from permissions (which is causing all kinds of grief with some recent purchases). Only thing left to do is reinstall macOS. My concern is machine licences (that I may have even forgotten about over the years!). I've decommissioned the ones I have most present in memory, but you know how it goes... it's the one that gets away that you regret later! Q: Has anyone had 'any' issues with machine licenses after a fresh OS install (specifically macOS)? Yes, I know it's not supposed to delete any user data, and yes, I already have a backup. This only started happening after installing iZotope's Neutron 3 Advanced (in case anyone else has had a similar experience). The guys at iZotope have been fab with support, but we're still scratching out heads. I'm pretty sure it's the iMac, and not their plugin. Hence the drastic move. Thanks.
  14. Sounds like a fun plugin. I held off installing when it asked for root permission: "Pendulate wants to make changes". A-huh. Waiting to hear back from Eventide as to exactly 'what' changes it wants to make. Call me OCD (over-cautious dude).
  15. In case this sheds any light on the eternal Protect Bug. First time I've had to protect a track for some time, and it's woken the Protect bug. Only happenes when a folder member is selected, not when it is swiped. (Sorry for the massive gif file – any tricks for compressing them?)
