  1. Just to keep you posted, the terminal command did not show any results for the missing exs... I assume they were lost when the disk where they were stored in crashed. Unless there's a way to retrieve the sample files that were inside those exs (at least their names), I think I can sleep on it.
  2. Thank you, the both of you! I fear that the sampler instruments were in the mac HDD, which burned a few years ago… at that time I did not have any backup system. Still, if I could see the list of the samples I used in this EXS, I would be able to recover some audio files (I may still have the samples in external HDD or I might be able to dowload it again because they mostly come from registered soundbanks, big fish etc…) @wonshu, I guess that I made a mistake by saving the project while the samples were unlocated… Now logic is asking for the sampler instrument exs file, but not showing any missing audio sample inside (the list is empty). Do I still have a chance to get back those files?
  3. Thanks for your reply ! I'm not sure to understand... how could I have a project file not saved ? I mean every project is saved before I close logic
  4. Hey there, I'm worried about an old project that I need to reopen. Some custom EXS instruments are missing... I've read several topics, but mostly it's about to help logic find the missing EXS or samples. Unfortunately, a spotlight search for the XXXX.exs files returns 0 results 😰 I guess I lost the EXS during a previous disk failure. However, since I managed to recovered most of my system, I may still have the samples in external disks ! But, when I click "options" in the missing EXS, it seems logic is loading a default blank exs, and the list supposed to display the different samples is empty : I can not find out which samples were used... which makes impossible to rebuild the original sampler instrument. Is there a way to recover those files? a text/pref file where the original sample names would be stored somewhere ? Thank you so much !
  5. Thanks David Actually I found that I can route any audio or midi track into a bus then "click + create track". Then "export all tracks in audio files" seems to export everything including this bus (which becomes a stem). I just need to group properly my tracks, and evitate to automate the track stack or the bus. That way I can export everything (separate tracks + custom stems) in 2 clicks !
  6. Ok. indeed, film music is not my setup for this project... I'm just looking for a faster workflow : automation of grouped tracks and bus +"create track"command seem to be interesting features when creating stems and exporting audio tracks
  7. I want to be sure to understand... For example, I have a clarinet (multimic recording : 3 tracks). Let's say I need to put it on the left and automate its volume, then export the 3 individual tracks to give it to the mixer. I see 3 options there, but you may have other ideas. Should I : - create a track stack (folder or sum ?) and automate volume of the stack (In "folder option" there is no pan setting...) - send the output to a bus that I can pan and automate - "group" the 3 tracks (if "volume" and "pan" are checked in the group dialog box, I just need to edit one of the 3 tracks to get the two others mirroring the settings). This would be the best option here, but as my 3 tracks are made with 2 close mics + 1 stereo mic, I'm not sure if it's correct to move all signals to the left, no matter they are mono or stereo takes... What's the best solution for using "export all tracks to audio" command, resulting in individual tracks without loss of pan/volume automation ? And in case of a stem, how is it possible to make them pass in an actual audio track ? should I group them to (In my example, group all woodwinds without messing up all "sub-groups" like my clarinet)
  8. Well...thank you for your reply. So you tell me there is no function to achieve this, as I want to ?
  9. Yes... but, I already worked a lot to make a 1st good mix, the mixer just need to make a few adjustments with his own plugins (reverb mostly). If I don't use automation, it's like losing all this work, and make him work longer...
  10. Hi In order to share my projects with a mixer using pro-tools, I'm looking for a trick to avoid solo-ing and bounce track by track. Export all tracks as audio file, checking "keep automation/pan" is not OK because some tracks are grouped and sent in a bus which receives volume automation. Exporting that way won't include the bus automation... The only way I founded is to solo each track and bounce it... quite long ! Is there a simple command I missed somewhere ? Thank you !
  11. Well... one day maybe... I imagine that vocal control will be one of the future major improvement in our DAW's. Let's wait !
  12. Hi guys I am now able to trigger the different articulations correctly with articulation settings. But this transformer thing...environment in logic is still a mystery for me, when I get the transformer icon and click on it, it's like we are back in 1900. I really tried to understand and read some related posts, but I can't find the right topic. I know I could also learn the whole logic manual, but I'm in a middle of something and time is running out...so I thank you for your precious advice ! What would be the correct settings to mirror CC1 on both midi channels 1 and 2 ? then I have to plug a wire from the transformer into the instrument channel strip ? thanx Have a good one
  13. Thank you Atlas, Actually I thought about it, but I did not know how to do it. I'll study this transformer thing However, I guess I'll have to parameter differently the articulation settings. Assuming the 1st patch is playing on channel 1, and 2nd on channel 2 : is it correct to enter midi channel 2 for the desired articulation (legato) in the output window of articulation settings ? Cheers
  14. Hi everyone I am becoming mad at trying to achieve this : On a midi track I load two instruments, let's say "Spitfire sacconi quartet - violin 1 -playable patch (legato) + individual patch (which contains several articulations like pizzicato, staccato etc...) The two instruments are both assigned to channel 1 (I want to keep the modweel CC1 / expression CC11 active for both patches) : And the spitfire patches are locked with UACC KS then I load an articulation set (I was told to put a "dummy" articulation on top list in order to "reset" the active articulation.) But when I assign the different articulations, I always get both instruments playing together (for exemple legato+pizz) What am I missing ? Thank you very much
