  1. Sorry about the late reply guys, I was having a go at using Reaper. It seems to be doing the trick so thank you so much for your suggestion, you have saved me many many hours. You may also have saved me my MSc thesis, so I am eternally in your debt!
  2. Essentially I have a number of MIDI files, each which I'd like to be played by a different MDI instrument and then be output to a .wav file. For example, suppose I have a folder of MIDI files in a folder. I'd then like to be able to loop through the folder, synthesizing each MIDI file using a violin, viola and cello and outputting to some .wav file. So the end output is audio, but I need to get there through MIDI. Any suggestions would be most welcome!
  3. Hello, I'm looking for a way to batch process multiple MIDI files using logic plugins (I need to get lots of orchestral instrument data). However, from looking around the forum it doesn't seem like there's much hope: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=100578&hilit=batch+process+MIDI#p524999 viewtopic.php?f=1&t=66727&p=344172&hilit=batch+process+MIDI#p344172 So does anyone know a good bit of software that will allow me to use AUs/plugins (Kontakt 5 and Miroslav Philharmonic) in a script? I potentially need to process 1800 MIDI files, so anything that could automate the process would be perfect. Thank you, Doug
  4. Also skylark your method sounds interesting, do you have any of your music online? I'd love to hear what the outcome sounds like!
  5. Ah thanks for the replies guys! I've been trying these out over the last couple of days and found that it's helped quite a lot. I followed David's advice and studied the structure of other songs and it's given me a good framework to go by. I realised that quite often there's one part of the song which stays almost the same throughout and the rest of the song moves around it - it's definitely helped to establish common ground between two separate parts and make it feel far more united. Thanks for all the suggestions, it got me out of a rut indeed!
  6. Hello folks, since writing music I find that one of the biggest blocks (but also one of the easiest methods of writing material) is being stuck in a loop - i.e. I think of an idea which is 4 bars and then just keep stacking things on top of it. I get to a point where I'm satisfied with the current loop but I often feel way too entrenched in the loop to take it anywhere particularly new. I've tried writing a couple more loops in the same key and attempting to fuse them but I run into a similar problem, I find it hard to form a bridge from one idea to the next. I'm stranded on an island made of loop. Anyone have a similar problem or even discovered a solution? Cheers!
  7. Ahhh sweet! Sorry about re-posting...I had a look at the old posts, clearly didn't look hard enough! Thank you for that though
  8. Hello! I was just wondering if it would be possible to somehow set logic up so that I could record some stuff off of the (internet) radio - I was trying to set the current audio output of my headphones as the input of some channel but couldn't seem to find a way. I was also thinking it may be possible to just attach a USB cable to the back of my digital radio and try and set that as an input? (haven't tried this just yet though). If any folks out there have had any success/failures then I'd love to know! Thank you, Doug
  9. Hello! I've recently downloaded a software drum machine plug in (the AudioRealism ADM) which I'm having trouble recording. Firstly I open up a software instrument, and leave the channel strip empty. Then on the I/O section I put the input as the ADM drum machine. In a separate window of its own (not in logic) I sequence the drums, and when I press play in this window the volume bars in logic become active. However, when I press record in logic (and press play in the ADM drum sequencer window) nothing is recorded. I've had a look round the forums but I can't seem to find anything on how to record an external software drum sequencer plug in. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot!
