  1. The title is basically where I'm at. I'm trying to record an Ableton session into logic. I have some things in Ableton needing MIDI assignment, but the second I go into MIDI mode (before I even press anything to assign them) Logic crashes without fail. I've updated to the newest version of Logic, and I'm on the newest Ableton Live trial.
  2. I'm trying to have a listen to a project at a little bit slower tempo. Usually I have no issues engaging Flex Time on all audio tracks and slowing down the session. Today, however, I just tried and found that some tracks aren't stretching with the session. Never had this happen before. Any takers? Thanks!
  3. I get what you mean regarding junction pointer. But junction pointer ONLY appears as a usable tool when the regions are touching ends, but not overlap. My reply was to iterate that this isn’t a solution because it takes finessing just to even get to the point that the tool appears. Unless I’m missing something, and that tool is otherwise an option. The lengthening of the region wasn’t the only source of the overlap. The overlap happens in any case where it could happen. If I paste audio over existing audio, there is overlap. If I stretch regions wider, there is overlap. It’s as if the “no overlap” setting is ignored.
  4. Ending up in that situation is not necessarily a bug in itself, however in No Overlap mode lengthening the region on the left should not yield that result. I can't reproduce this here, not when in No Overlap mode. Is this LPX 10.4.8? You could try using the Junction pointer instead: Junction-pointer.gif The problem is that the junction pointer only seems to show itself up to a certain amount of overlap. If there's too much, it isn't an option, and I have to manually move until I can find it, which takes time because that "acceptable" amount of overlap is quite small. This is a big problem when pasting audio, since I'm not thinking about fine adjustment of the length as I copy the audio (nor do I have the other clip as a visual reference to do so). Anyways, I'm on 10.4.7. I reckon it's worth updating to see if this is resolved.
  5. Here are two additional shots to illustrate another instance. In the first screenshot, I want to move the crossfade near the center of the screen to the right a bit, so I drag the right edge of the first clip to the right, and you can see that the fade point does not follow my move. It stays exactly the same and there is an overlap (left over right) with the right clip being the audible one (from the background). I can't figure out how this would be useful. Is this a bug? Edit: looks like the attachments show in the opposite order, so reverse the order in which I've described the screenshots.
  6. Hard to describe exactly what I'm doing that causes this, because it just happens all the time. Here are two screenshots I've just taken. In one screenshot, the highlighted region is a piece of pasted audio from an alternate take (Take 36.105) and it sits on top of everything that was already present in the active take. The other shows what happens when I click anywhere in the timeline after pasting, or otherwise take the focus off this pasted clip (the pasted region gets hidden behind the border of the region to its right (Take 23.62). In both scenarios, the audio from Take 23.62 is what plays when the two overlap (around bar 56.4.0), even when it is behind the other audio. This happens in any similar scenario, and anytime I have overlapping regions. If I drag the leftward region of a crossfade to the right (or vice versa if moving the fade earlier), I would expect the region to the right to be shortened, and the fade point to follow the meeting point of the two clips. Instead, one clip will just duck behind the other, and still play where the two overlap. This means anytime I crossfade, I have to manually move the edges of BOTH audio clips to the right spot and ensure neither is "hiding", or there will be some undesirable playback from one of them. That's the best I can describe it, but it doesn't seem like it should be this way and its really killing my flow. Thanks.
  7. Am I missing something here then? I’ve tried No Overlap, and still. I paste a segment from an alternate take into the same bar of the main playlist, and as soon as I click anything else, that region goes behind what was there. Even when it’s visible on top, whatever is behind it plays when the playhead reaches it. It’s infuriating. If I paste something, I want that to effectively trim whatever was there to meet its edges, not sit on top or behind of something else.
  8. How can I get audio regions not to hide behind other regions? I have tried every "drag" setting and still have hidden regions playing. I just want to be able to paste a clip somewhere, and then not worry about it disappearing behind the pre-existing audio when I click away from it. It makes even crossfading pasted audio a nightmare. Thanks in advance.
  9. I would also love to know what route I should take right now, if I want to comp these takes freely of Quick Swipe. As in, unpack them to new tracks and edit completely freely, as close to the Pro Tools "playlist" function as I can. It's a very high amount of takes, and I would want to be able to do this without having 20+ extra Flex-enabled tracks. Is there a way to Unpack with the tracks flex-committed to match this tempo? Edit: Better yet, this seems like a job for "track alternatives". How could I basically commit all these individual takes to the new tempo, then have them operate as take alternatives instead?
  10. Oh man. As always, I've forgotten something important. This session was recorded awhile ago, and I totally forgot that I changed tempo just after recording. So disabling flex time is not my answer, just need to be in monophonic mode. Thanks for the help, but you can't fix stupid!
  11. Yes that's what I meant. When I turn off flex time, it does not revert to the unaltered audio. It is all very very off-time.
  12. Ok. Looks like flex time was on, and in slicing mode. Which is strange because I have never once used slicing mode. Now if I disable slicing, my takes are all entirely jacked. Is there any way to get rid of any edits made to this comp and start over?
  13. I'm comping some bass takes, and I'm having a problem where the audio non either side of my comp sections looks like it moves as I slide the fade point around. Not controlled, like a slip edit or anything, just jumpy and weird. The fade also jumps around a little bit, like it's snapping to a point of it's own choosing (no snap setting is enabled). No clue what could be causing this, any ideas?
  14. Hey guys. I'm trying to disable the pitch bend parameter to one of the instruments I'm controlling in a real-time live performance. I've disabled the pitch parameters to the relevant parts in Omnisphere, but I would like to disable it in the Waves piano sampler I'm using for a grand piano sound. The plug itself doesn't have a pitch bend range control. If I disable the pitch wheel in Logic's Input filter section, I lose the control over one of the instruments I will be bending in the performance. Is there any sort of clever workaround to disable the function within Logic, but only for the one plugin? Thanks!
