  1. Thanks for all the great advice, fellas! I'll be on it tomorrow
  2. I just get scared of that kind of thing...don't want to lose anything else...already had to purchase Logic again when I already had it!
  3. That's great advice! Gonna have to hire someone in Nashville to come do it...that stuff is way too scary for me
  4. Just to be safe, I bought the full thing...I had upgraded several times in the past...just don't want to spend any more time pulling my hair out
  5. Long story, but something went seriously wrong with my Logic Studio after I unistalled Final Cut Pro...after agonizing over this, I just went out and bought a new version of Logic Studio. My question is...can I just install the new software, or do I need to uninstall the old stuff? Thanks! Mark
  6. That's the weird part to me how this even happened...I did accidentally have 2 channels in surround, but the Aux and effect were stereo... Really not sure how I did that! Thanks!
  7. Ok...part way there! I did in fact, somehow manage to have 2 channels in surround, so I'm sure that's what made the master go there...I put the channels back to stereo, but still couldn't change the master for some reason. My workaround was to do a couple bounces and disable surround there... Jeez... Thanks so much for the help guys! mark
  8. Ok, I feel like a total idiot...set the mixer to ALL, but still can't see how to change it!
  9. Hi! Working with v8 still, which is fine...something strange happened in a recent session... My master is in 5.1 mode instead of stereo and I can't seem to change it! Yeah, dumb question, but I can't find it Thanks!
  10. Great question! Apple loops adjust easily enough, but the sound usually suffers pretty bad
  11. Singing is the most vulnerable thing you can do...if you play a mediocre guitar part, that sucks, but you can live with yourself...sing a crappy vocal...ouch! It's just so personal. I hated my voice for years...took lessons, still hated it, took more lessons, hated it less...eventually started a side band and became the singer because I felt even though my voice wasn't as good to my ears as some other singers, I was the best at interpreting my own music/lyrics...one day I woke up and found that I had a few records out that people liked and I sang on them, so I must be a singer Your voice has something to offer that no other voice does, if you can get your head around your strengths and get over personal hangups. My favorite 'singers?' Tom Waits, Howling Wolf, Paul Westerberg, John Lydon...people who can SELL their lyrics...people who write great words and sing them with meaning...everyone has said basically the same thing, but there is more to it than technical perfection, whatever that is! -Mark
  12. Those are both great tools, so it's really a matter of what you prefer working on. I own a studio, and in that studio we use Nuendo...for tracking and mixing, it's such a powerful thing...and Cubase is a lot like Nuendo, so there's one argument. I am also a composer/producer and for my laptop, which is used primarily for writing/preproduction I use Logic because it's fun to use after you learn it and nothing comes stock with so many great plugs and instruments...I think Logic 8 is under $600.00 and you get a guitar amp sim, bass amp sim, lots of great synths, electric pianos, a sampler, a great drum machine, a great Organ sim, an awesome Delay plug, an awesome reverb plug, really good eq's and comps and a truckload of apple loops, which can be dropped into any project and will automatically adjust to time and pitch...to buy a Cubase rig with so many great plugs and instruments would cost at least $2,000 I'm guessing...With Logic, everything is right there and you're off to the races...so bang for the buck, nothing touches it, IMO. My engineer doesn't need tons of instruments or MIDI in general, so he loves Nuendo...but again it depends on your needs and budget. With good converters, soundcard and plugs, you're talking about a lot of money...Probably $6k? Probably more actually...for my writing rig, not counting the computer, I have Logic 8 and an Apogee Duet...ok, only 2 ins and outs, but, great sound and results for like $1,200 tops. Did that even help? -Mark
  13. That's a lot of Logic speak, in a nutshell...trust me, LOVE Logic...it's all I write on...but an arp as an insert plugin just makes sense to me...heck, I don't really use arps that often...prolly why I just don't bother at all...been having fun automating delays instead...no big deal.
  14. Had one for about a week...has some pluses and minuses...anyone else think the headphone amp sounds kinda lousy? Wondering what headphones you guys prefer for that particular unit. My AKG's don't work...not loud enough...some weird impedence thing...so I use my studios Sony MDR 7506's...too bright and shrill, though plenty loud. Anyone Duet owners care to chime in here? Thanks!
