  1. Actually, I'm using the MOTU 828. But I will try the solution you suggest anyway. Thanks
  2. Out of the blue... this warning appears and now I cannot record in either Logic OR Garageband. What could I have possibly done? More importantly... how do I remedy this? Where do I begin... Thanks for any help.
  3. Hey guys and gals. I was expecting this area to be for meet and greet and BSing and such. Maybe not venturing too far from Logic and music but delving into other aspects of our daily lives, blah, blah, blah. Just a better way to get to know peeps here. I get frustrated messing with my music and Logic and computers and I need some get away time. I have a question... seems to me when something happens around the world Apple ges on the "let's help" bandwagon and they will add something to their site regarding donating or the Red Cross or whatever. I guess Katrina in the USA doesn't warrant any attention at Apple... or have I just not seen it?? (This is not meant to be a put down... Apple does plenty...) Peace y'all.
  4. I agree. Everyone here with Logic knowhow has a great deal of patience. Especially with an idiot like me when I start drooling with frustration. MACS RULE.
  5. I don't do any of that dragging stuff onto icons. In Logic (Express), I go to Open File and hunt for my GarageBand file and presto... GB in LEx. All tracks are converted with effects etc. BRILLIANT!!
  6. Like I have room for a freakin' mixer!!
  7. I'm a drummer. Orange you glad I didn't say my drums are orange??
  8. I do believe I hear Taps playing in the distance...
  9. Yup... Sys Profiler sees my G4 Superdrive. And I believe that firmware update is for G5 systems. Drive still screwy today...
  10. I know this is not a Logic issue but it was a result of trying to burn a demo... recorded in Logic. That close enough?? Here's the story... I had a blank disk stuck in my Suerdrive and the sucker would not eject. I did the, RESTART>HOLD MOUSE button down and cha-ching... tray opened and out came stuck CD. Yea. Now my Superdrive will not recognize ANY disk I put in it. Blank CD-R, DVD-R, pre-recorded CDs... What is the heck up here? Is this a firmware issue? Did the stuck CD solution make screwy with my G4 Superdrive?? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. (If this post is inappropriate... let me know...)
  11. OSX is scheduled to run some background tasks at night (3:15am and 5:30am in your computer's time zone), like removing system files that are no longer needed, purging the log files, deleting temp items... If you turn your computer off at that time, or if it is sleeping, those tasks will not run. You CAN run these scripts manually... Can't you? ... but who remembers to that anyhoo?
  12. thanks David... (In my next life I will marry Samantha... a little witch is what I need...)
  13. I bought Logic Express. I want to get rid of the trial version and any remnants that are sitting on my hard-drive. What should I trash besides the program itself... preferences, etc?
  14. heh... i'm not giving up. Frustration brings out the smart-ass in me. I've backed away from it for a couple of days. I'll tell you what's going on now besides latency. When I hit to record (piano) the latency is there but there is also static, now. Sounds like hell. I think while going through one of Martin Sitters lessons I screwed up settings somewhere. The Logic Apple Pro Training book is good but towards the end he goes through set-up and he seems to fly through it and assumes too much and there may have been some things I did to screw up something. Settings, prefrences... who knows? Also... I did record piano without latency and it was in one of Sitter's lesson songs. I went back to that song to record piano again... guess what? Latency! Anyhoo... I'm down to the last few days of the 30 day Express trial. This book hasn't really done much to make me want to buy the application. I know it's more complex than say, Garagband... but I sure miss click and go! So... I'll fire it up again today and go back to square one. And yes... I'm sticking with Logic. I will buy the app this week. Yeah, boy it would be great if you were sitting here in front of this heap trying to figure out what up. But you do alot with this forum and thanks for all your help. (Oh, uncheck software monitoring. I think I did that. I'll check that out... thanx.)
