  1. Mate, if I could buy you a beer I would - that really helped!!! I am about 80% there becasue you bothered to message - THANK YOU!!!!
  2. Finished my day of recording then made the basic error of pressing "yes" to an update to Ventura ... I know... please dont make is any worse than it is.... not I have no recording interface.... Apogee Quartet Maestro2 has gone from input and output audio device and it is no longer listed on the Apogee website to re-install ... any suggestions? New kit required? I have spet 2 days on this and have gone backwards.
  3. I've got this sorted. If anyone else has the same problem - take out the usb lead - turn off (unplug) and turn on again pressing down the dial and wait for it to boot up. It worked for me anyway.
  4. Ive been recording fine using Apogee Quartet and Logic Pro X .... but overnight the Quartet has stopped working altogether.... it's like it has died. So I thought maybe its because my Imac wanted to update to Big Sur... so Ive updated... but the Apogee Quartet still isnt working. Anyone else have this problem? I'm totally stuck!
  5. This helped for me: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201199 I did this... In the Finder choose Go > Go to Folder, enter "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components" into the Go to Folder field, then click Go. then deleted the offending plugins manually. I have old one which were constantly being rescanned on opening Logic. Works a dream now Don't do it if you are not sure though... its just that Ive waited years to try and help someone and this was my chance!
  6. Hi triplets - that worked!... I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not but I also didn't have any automation on... I've spent hours on this and it's been doing my head in so appreciate your fast reply.
  7. I have 30 stereo wav files that I want to convert to 30 mono MP3s to submit to a voice over company. What’s the best way to do this in Logic Pro X or using an external app please? I have tried to press the 2 "oo's" to make mono track, and I have also split the signal when bouncing a wav file (and then re-naming one of the files)... but I can't convert my mono wav to a mono MP3. There has got to be a better way!
  8. I love this. Better than being concerned about the order of plugins (something I've worried about every mix). Cheers David
  9. Thanks mate - although everything is limited (pardon the pun) I would like more mics and more inputs and more of everything but it is what it is. The concertina isnt as scary as the banjo!
  10. Next month I am recording a solo traditional folk artist in a LIVE acoustic concert using Logic X. The artist will need vocals throughout, and he plays either an acoustic guitar, a 5-string banjo, octave mandola and an Anglo concertina (not at the same time). The guitar has a great sound and a DI if required. I have an Apogee Quartet, so can only record 4 things at once – although I could use a mixer if required. My mics are an AKG C414 XLS (a large diaphragm condenser mic), a Rode NT1-A Condenser Mic and a pair of Rode M5 condenser microphones – plus a couple of SM58’s. Any tips? I was thinking of putting the AKG C414 on vocals throughout (pointing up a little) on channel 1, the Rode NT1-A on the instruments (pointing down a little) on channel 2, putting the small condensers into the mixer (channel 3) to get the room sound … and maybe a DI on the guitar (channel 4). But has anyone got any tips? I’ve recorded live before and it came out brilliantly... but that was just guitar and vocal – with so many different instruments its going to be more interesting! Any tips
  11. Thanks David - your reply is much appreciated - in all honesty, it worked fine over the weekend! Feel such an idiot Love the forum. Bill
  12. I have a boundary mic which I have set to Omni-directional plugged into an Apogee Quartet then Logic Pro X. The boundary mic has one mono jack. It tries to record in stereo and looks for 2 inputs – it wont work in mono - but of course, it only records on one side / one channel. How do I get it to record left and right? Is it a case of just using a splitter and plugging it into 2 channels or is there another way? I feel I should know this so hope its not a stupid question.
