  1. I have tried to emulate the sound of the ensemble circuits of the string synths of the 70's with Logic plug-ins. The Ensemble plug-in can get you some of the way there but this method of using three Mod delays can get really close. These were made in LPX. I wanted to use separate busses like it should really be done using summing stacks but I can't get X to keep the correct settings. The CST settings work well though. Have fun and please share any improvements you may make. I would love to hear them. Stringy.zip
  2. I am looking to see if anyone else has this same bug. I have been looking around the interwebs and can't find anything. I am wondering if I have found a bug or is it operator error. Step 1: Make a summing track stack with lets say any 3 software instruments. -Channel 1 EXS with a string preset -Channel 2 E-Piano with lets say a Wurli -Channel 3 Retro Synth with a synth pad Step 2: Save as a patch in the user patches directory. Step 3: Go into another session and select the newly made patch. Now, Shouldn't this recall my summing track stack from the previous session? It seems to save the first instrument and setting (The EXS) and copies it to the other two tracks. I now have three EXS string sounds playing in unison. •I can save the Logic session with the summing stack and import the stack into the new session but I want to use the User patch area. I have plenty of homemade layered synths and drum stacks I want to use. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jim
  3. If the Avid project is in HD then the best way is an encapsulated AAF file. Avid doesn't allow HD projects to be output to OMF. I don't know why. 1----Make sure the editor consolidates the audio with some handles on each side of the regions. I normally get 30 or 60 frame handles. That way you have those frames to peel back and change if you need to at each region boundary on your timeline. 2---Open a new session (From a template if you want) and make sure that in Project settings>audio that your sample rate is the same as the sample rate used in the Avid. Logic can easily SR convert the audio BUT it hiccups from time to time. 3--Make sure your frame rate is the same as the Avid project by going to Project settings> Synchronization. 4--File>Import>AAF and watch it populate tracks and regions. You may or may not get volume and panning information in those tracks. Logic X seems to be better with that metadata. 5--Save 6--If you have a movie to edit with (Hopefully with TC burn-in) import it with the audio and make sure the first frame of the movie matches TC with the session. 6a--Sometimes you get a movie with black at the beginning so you may have to move all the populated AAF audio tracks to line up with the beginning of the of the edit. You can always hear the audio from the movie since you imported it and use nudge to get it pretty damn close. I hope this helps. I have used Logic for about 5 years now for doing post. I use PT as well but Avid is charging way too much these days so I am only current with Logic. It works great for me.
  4. No, it hasn't been removed. You can still import OMF's by going to File > Import > Other... (Command+i). What I don't see is an option to export OMF's like in Logic 9. J. Good to know. Thank you! OMF import has always worked better than AAF for me. OMF export would be nice to keep around.
  5. Have you tried unhooking all other USB devices except the Alphatrack and a mouse? Could be a conflict somewhere.
  6. I have used it without any issues in 9. I use it hooked into a powered USB hub. I don't know if that makes a difference but it works in Lion. iHere are the drivers to use it in Logic native (not HUI) mode. http://frontierdesign.com/download/driver/AlphaTrack/AlphaTrack_OS_X_1_4_1.zip http://frontierdesign.com/download/plugin/AlphaTrack/AlphaTrack_Logic_1.3.zip
  7. EFM is still in there... Thank you! I can't find any mention of it anywhere in the new user's guide. I just found the Instruments guide online.
