  1. Hey folks, I'm trying to export as audio files from a Studio Horns plugin. It's the Chicago Street 3 piece preset. I've got the 3 parts played in and when I expand the channel in the mixer I can see the sax, trumpet & trombone playing in their individual channel strips. Problem is that when I go to export as Audio files the option in the file export window is set to "one file per track" and it won't let me change that to "one file per channel".....any clues why? I've tried with the drummer plugin export and it does work, but not the horns plugin. Running Logic 10.4.8 High Sierra 10.13.6 Presonus Firestudio 2626 Thanks
  2. OSX High Sierra working here on 2011 iMac with LPX 10.3.2 & Presonus AudioBox iTwo.
  3. I'm missing something here, how'd you get a ghost note head in your part box??
  4. Fair enough, I've assigned a new key command to 'write automation to end', seems to work fine.
  5. Thanks for the reply, hopefully they'll offer an option to select the old behaviour in the next update.
  6. Hey all, Just delving into 10.2 over the last couple of days and I think I may have come across a bug with the LATCH automation. (Hopefully someone else can quickly try this to see if they get the same result) So...start with a new track that doesn't have any automation data yet (for arguments sake a drummer track that runs for 16 bars). Put this track into LATCH automation mode and play from the beginning, at any point grab the volume fader of the track and make a volume adjustment, say drop the volume by 30% and then release the fader and then stop the track. Now if you look at the Volume automation data on the track you should see the from where you stopped play on the track from there on the volume has "latched' -30% through to the end of that track. All good so far, this is how I expect the Latch function to work. But after this first pass whenever you use the Latch automation it'll only latch for as long as you're actually playing the track. So using the example above, if you 'latched' the volume down by 30% at bar 4 and stopped the track, the volume will remain at -30% until the end of the track. If you do a second pass starting from bar 8 and drop the volume by another 30% it will latch to that lower volume ONLY while the track is playing, as soon as you stop the track it'll unlatch back to the previous level (the original -30%). This doesn't seem right to me, it's almost like it's acting more akin to TOUCH mode. Any theories?? Dave
  7. Try using the Solo tool (ESC then 7), then you can just click & hold on the take you want to listen to and it'll play from wherever you click.
  8. it is the other way around...that is why they have changed logic terminology to match garageband and not the other way around... Garageband was born out of Logic. So they're unifying the terminology, that makes sense, good idea don't you think? it's why the 'pro' user has to get used to 'musical typing' rather than garageband users grow up and learn what a 'caps-lock keyboard' is Don't quite get what you mean by this....??
  9. Just spent the first 2 days with LPX. Sweet stuff: - Love LPX's updated GUI & colour scheme, IMHO looks way better. (Flipped back to LP9 project at the end of the day and already it looks dated...looks so '90's now!) The darker look means less eye strain for me, LP9 is too bright & sterile in retrospect. - Smart controls, initially thought they looked stupid but after actually using them....brilliant, great for quickly accessing key parameters. - Track Stacks, I'll be using this feature a lot. - Mixer. Like the refinements, reminds a little of the PT mixer. Like the new way insert buttons work. - Auto-colour multiple takes - Sweet. - Drummer - Excellent, will also use this one a lot. - MIDI plugins, they've been a while coming, but hey, they're here and they rock! (Arpeggiator is so much fun.) - Flex Pitch - Bye bye Melodyne & ATune. Really like the implementation of this, very easy to use. - Logic Remote on the iPad. It's ver.1 release, it's free, it works....love it. - Retro Synth is sweet. - THE TUNER, wow, getting excited 'bout this is weird, but it's super smooth & responsive and...well, it just works, press the tuner button & it's there. - When starting a new project being able to enter key & tap tempo, what a great addition. - The Alternatives, great for arrangements. - 64 bit plugs...Yes! Goodbye 32 bit, watch the door doesn't hit yer arse on the way out. - Start up time! With 16gb RAM and an SSD drive it now takes all of 3 to 4 seconds to load! Killer! - Instruments & loops. There's still an absolute shedload of stuff included that covers a huge amount of ground I know I'll find more little gems over the next few weeks. Take it or leave it stuff: - No update to EXS24. Doesn't affect me, still sounds great. (Ditto for any other VI's that remain mostly unchanged) - MultiCore handling. Never affected me in 9, so far yet to have in impact with X. - Guitar & bass amps & fx. I've got an Axe FX II so I won't really use these for guitar. (However can be great to f***k up drums or vocals with) Can't think of anything else just yet. - The Environment? Still there.....{crickets} Big shout out to the Apple team responsible for LPX, I really like what you've done, and I like where it's headed. Bravo! Just remember folks, this IS Logic Pro X, not Garageband Pro (and hasn't that jibe gotten old very quickly). (Think of Garageband as "Logic-Lite", coz that's what it is.) OzGuitar.
  10. Don't know if this is a bug or 'user error' .... Starting tracking some guitars today with LPX and noticed something strange. When doing multiple takes on the one track, or cycle recording multiple takes, when I stop recording the object is empty. I have to open the comp and quick swipe what I want to hear. This is not how it's been working in LP9, (I loaded it up & checked). Normally that last take is active when you stop recording, but with LPX nothing is active until you open the comp and select one of the takes. (Note: if just doing an initial single take it's fine) Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing?? Weird.
  11. Ozguitar, if you do not mind me asking I would like to know How is that? Are you running a Mac or HackinMac? Did you run Snow Leopard or Lion and then run the Mountain Lion installer? Did you do a fresh install and then run migration assistant or did you go to the presonus website to download the driver? I am trying to figure out how to make it work and have only ended up falling flat on my face! Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated! Runing 10.8.4 on a 2012 iMac 27", 3.4GHz Core i7, 16GB ram, internal SSD & 3.5HDD. Using the Lion specific Control Panel & Driver from Presonus. Just followed the install instructions and it works fine. Even had at one stage the older Universal Control & Driver for Leopard/Snow Leopard running on Lion when it first came out. When Presonus did finally release the Lion specific version I installed that and have been running it ever since (on Lion, then Mt Lion). If yours is still not working I would suggest posting on the Presonus forum, include exactly what hardware, OSX, App versions you're running and see if anyone there can help you. Also, check your FW ports & FW cable, I've been caught out in the past by a bad cable that was hard to troubleshoot. Ozguitar
  12. Its another extra step, so really not worse just a bit more time. So, yes, I would assume you would want to backup what you have with either Time Machine or Carbon copy cloner first, that is your internal drive. Then use your factory DVD disks, the OSX install disc, pop it in the machine and then choose it as a startup disk. Once the MBP has restarted with the disc, which takes several minutes, be sure to choose disk utility or tools from the menu bar. Only after you have made a backup of your internal drive do you want to wipe it clean and start over. It is always nice to have a backup to save any items you may have missed by any other kind of backup that you already have. Once you have a fresh install of Snow leopard then you are ready to get Mountain Lion from the App Store. Be sure your not in a hurry, its really frustrating to make a mistake or install a driver that is not compatible with Mountain Lion and have to start over from scratch. Mountain Lion is still pretty touchy in some aspects. I did try the presonus driver for my firestudio 2626 and had to wipe it again and start over. So, yeah a fresh install is going to do your computer good for sure! BTW, the firestudio 2626 is not supported by presonus after Lion and will NOT work with Mountain Lion! The Firestudio 2626 does work in Mountain Lion.
