  1. Not sure if this will do it, but worth a try: verify that all your audio and sources are running at/on the same frequency rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz) Also, Logic seems to be having problems with MP3's, so make sure any imported audio files are all WAV or AIFF. To clarify, is this happening with MIDI or audio? Also check all your track automation and MIDI region automation to make sure there's not excessive/conflicting automation data going on.
  2. Hello! Whilst going through backups of old projects, I noticed something absolutely bizarre: some projects (although not obviously corrupted) are missing HUGE chunks of data. MIDI regions, alternatives, autosaves, etc... However, all the surrounding data like folder structure, movie content, final bounced files, etc. are in place. But when I open up the project, I only see 0 alternatives (first project only), a limited amount of autosaves, and most MIDI regions all gone. Some audio files seem to load. Custom markers are all in place. Movie file loads. And yet I know for certain that a ton of work was done on these projects, yet none of that work is shown in the arrange window, nor any other window. Every saved version of the project comes up with few or no MIDI regions in the arrange window. It's as if in each saved version of the project, I'm looking at a very early version of the project, like the beginning stages, but everything from that point in the project is missing. Yet the final product (bounced audio file) exists and is sitting happily next to the project in my hard drive. Inside the project package, there are no autosaves or additional alternatives (possibly there were no alternatives made,) and the last saved version of the project does seem to correspond to the date, but not the time, of the final bounced audio file. I have identified at least two projects that have this issue. Some things that have/may have happened: - May have updated Logic to a newer version (not sure, but I don't think so...) - Have definitely migrated the projects to/from different backup drives - Have updated to the newest Mac OS (projects were made under High Sierra or so, and now I'm running on a Catalina machine.) Can anyone help identify/solve issues like this?
  3. Is there a way to make bounced files have metadata that shows which project file they came from? I have a lot of bounced audio files that I do now know which project they were bounced from. It may come down to changing the way I organize content, but it would be helpful if, somewhere in the file, I could find out which project the bounced file originated from. Thank you!
  4. Is there any way to automatically disable the click/metronome when bouncing a track? I often play and record to a click and forget to turn it off, then go through a (sometimes long) bounce, only to discover that click burned into the track. Thank you!
  5. Hi All; long time lurker, first time poster on the forum I'll get right to it; I want advice, hints, tips, tricks, on creating film music that a producer could drag, drop and loop in their video session. A client has seven 2.5-3 minute films that need one piece of music that can be adapted to each film. I will not be composing individual tracks to each film; instead, I need to figure out a way to create one piece of music that can be adapted easily by a non-musical producer to match the length of the films he's working with, specifically by dropping an intro, loop, and outro audio file(s). For example, if one wanted to create INTRO-MIDDLE-OUTRO .aif files that a film producer could simply drop into their Final Cut timeline and then decide when they wanted an ending, how would one do that? I assume I should/shouldn't use/do a lot or X, or Y effects because of X Y and Z consequences? (please fill in the X Y and Z with your personal knowledge, wisdom, experience) I don't even know what kind of technique or system to call this; (customizable production music?) I hope this makes sense, and if it doesn't, please let me know! Thank you! -Eric My Logic X utilized a tricked out i7 16GB DDR3 RAM 2012 iMac, multiple hard drives and Alesis qx49 MIDI controller connected via two usb hubs, powered by one 1500+ Cochrane matter/antimatter core, and two LF-44 nacelles
  6. Hi Fisherking, Thanks for the advice... Just got Zebra; has some pretty neat stuff. Sculpture was the one I immediately went went to... do you know of any other synths that are like Sculpture? So many synths out there seem to be dedicated to pop, dance and techno music. I'm very interested in using synths in styles of music that they are not normally used in. Thanks again!
  7. Hello all! I am somewhat new to all this and I've been really enjoying reading this forum; such a fantastic group of skilled people here! My question has to do with creating shimmering, glistening, heavenly pads in Logic. I am trying to emulate the specific sound of Michael Stearns Serge synthesizer, for example, the sonic quality that was used in the soundtrack to the film Baraka. This kind of sound, to be specific: And the huge swell at the title card in the film Samsara (skip to exactly 4:50 and again at 11:15 for some good examples) For the life of me, I can't seem to recreate this. That being said, I am quite new to synthesis, and I expect many of these kinds of sounds could be created using the instruments built into Logic... or can they?? With those sounds in mind, I'd be grateful if anyone could answer any of these questions: • How do you think these kinds of sounds were made, layered, manipulated? What synth, 3rd party of otherwise would be best for making these kinds of sounds? • What learning resources would you point me in the direction of in regards to learning how to create these kinds of sounds? • If you were charged with the task of creating large scoundscape-esque music like this, how would you start? What instruments would you use? What would your work flow and process look like? How would you mix the piece? Thanks very much for all the great advice on these forums. I look forward to hearing your responses. -Eric
