  1. If you are using a duplicate sample (versus a new, different snare sample), its probably still just not lined up right. Similar to if you mono a sound with a stereo sample delay, and the slightly delayed sound causes a phasing sound? Its quite possibly you have already tried this, but: Logic may not be displaying the audio wave 100% correct. Also, Its probably hard to line up exactly when there are other sounds in the mix. So move the Snare Stem a few ticks forward, so you are sure it is coming before the original. Then insert a sample delay plugin and slowly add samples up until it doesn't sound 'flangey, or phasey'. This may take a bit of tweaking and time, but your ears in this case will be better than logics wave form I think. Also, if you can't get that to work right and you REALLY need a thicker snare, you could try layering in a new snare sound, one that will hopefully not flange because its waveform is different. I know there are plugins that can do this, or you can either do it manually or by setting up some kind of gate system through a bus. A picture or audio file can help determine if I'm even going in the right direction here, so sorry if this is way off the mark.
  2. I have a drumkit designer instrument (I have tried creating new ones, changing the patch), and it is making a weird phasing sound for no reason that I can figure out. I've attached a video. I have no plugin's, I have put latency compensation to ALL like apple suggests. Any ideas? Not sure why the video only has R channel, but the phasing sound is still present and noticeable. https://www.dropbox.com/s/t3xxlve5ll2scvx/phasing.mov?dl=0 -Jacob
  3. I'm trying to edit an audiofile using 'Change Gain' and the audiofile is mysteriously locking itself midway through the process. To make it more confusing, I can't figure out why logic thinks it's now locked because all the audio files (and all folders) still have read/write permissions. I sometimes can change a phrase or two's gain before it says the "Volume or file is locked" error message. Other times I can edit the whole audio file. By bouncing in place I can get a few more edits done before it does it again. It didn't do it for the first few hours today but it just started and it's happened before. Any ideas? Thanks
  4. I eventually did just open an old copy and save the instrument as a patch, then reload it as a DMD. Thanks for the info on the different output configurations, that seems like a design flaw to me but whatever.....now I know for the future so I don't spend an hour trying to troubleshoot nothing. Thank you for the help!
  5. My main question is: are 'Drum Machine" ultrabeat plugins different than the regular ultrabeat plugin, and if so how can I choose which one I get? Here's my issue: After a crash, I had to reset an ultrabeat plugin which was part of a DrumMachine multiouput stack. But the sends are different in the new ultrabeat plugin than they were with the old one. The plugin that was embedded with drummachine had ouputs from 'Main", "3-4", "5-6" all they way up to ""49-50". But my new kit, which I saved as a preset prior to logic crashing, only shows ouputs up to "15-16", at which point it switches to single increments, and eventually back to just 'Main" again towards the end of the list. This is really screwing up my output sends because I run out of numbers before all 25 instruments ca be assigned individual sends. Why is it doing this? The weird thing is if I create a plain ultrabeat instrument, it has ouputs that only go up to 15-16 before going to single numbers, but if I create a drummachine track, the ultrabeat plugin goes all the way up to 50. I can only load my preset into the plain instrument, I'm guessing because the outputs match? Thanks, Jacob

    Loop question

If its an audio track there's no separating it, everything's been bounced into one file. The easiest way to get the bass drum from the loop is to just make your own drum kit synth and try to tap out the beat with another kick. You can probably get the sound using EQ, compression, reverb, or other effects pretty close to the original. Or close enough to work. If you're trying to just boost the bass louder for the grand finale, you could also use an EQ filter, set the processing to MID (in the dropdown menu at the bottom), and boost the low frequencies. This should just boost the bass sound, for the most part.

    Loop question

By figure, do you mean instrument? Region? Is the loop an audio file, or midi region.
  8. Hi again, When exporting a take folder to a new track, it will only export (sometimes) a portion of the take folder. Here is a picture of how much will be exported when I export this take folder (see below, exported region portions are at the very bottom). I can't figure out why it is ignoring the other regions entirely? -jacob
  9. I've posted this issue here before to no avail, but maybe with more time someone else has experienced this? Drum Kit Designer randomly will skip notes, but it is very predictable which ones it will skip and when, so it doesn't seem to be because of system overloads or something. For ex: It will always play a snare when started 1 measure before it hits. But when started 2 measures out, it will always skip it. It will also skip sending the snare's room send when played 1 measure out, while still playing the snare itself, and will still skip both when 2 measures out. All other notes (except for the others its skipping) are played normally. https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D2580813_74572267_86213349 This video shows the snare, circled by my mouse, and how it reacts when playhead is placed 1 measure vs two measures out. You can also hear in the second half how the room is missing from the snare when it plays. If no one knows a fix, could someone please help me find how to contact an apple person who knows whats wrong, rather than some dumb apple genius from a store who knows nothing? Also, is there a way to get support for this app specifically from apple? Like an email with someone that actually responds? Thanks, Jacob
  10. OMG, I knew that.... lol I had to take a 6 month break from mixing, and coming back is a painful process. One of the plugins was stereo, of course.... Thanks for the help, it would have taken me a while to figure that out.
  11. I'm sure this is a simple fix but I have a track that is staying in stereo when I have 'mono' selected as the input mode. Basically, I created an audio track as mono, and recorded vocals. Then, on accident, I hit it to stereo. Upon switching back, my vocals are now stuck on the left side, like it thinks its stereo, even though the track was recorded mono and i now have mono selected. And the meter at the bottom still shows L/R channels. How the heck do you get it back to mono? I know in LP9 there was just that button below the meter, but I can't find anything on x. Thanks
  12. Well it works in other projects, just not this one. I open up the flex editor, I see the notes the algo has decided are present, and usually I can divide them by clicking on them with the scissors. But in this one project I have nothing happens....
  13. Any ideas why all the other tools work fine, but the scissors just stare at the note I click and drool? Trying to cut a note in half without having to split the region itself using the scissors tool, but mine seem to be very dull.
