  1. The Apple Loops sound OK through the M-Track - no distortion. I tried something else: just playing back a MIDI track I'd recorded through the M-Track. When actually playing the keyboard and monitoring, there was significant distortion as described above. Just playing back has MUCH less distortion (though the Mac headphone jack still sounds cleaner).
  2. Thanks for the reply! It's a Yamaha CLP-970A digital piano, connected via MIDI cable (10 foot Monoprice cable) to the M-Track, which is in turn connected via USB (using the cable included with the M-Track) to the Mac (directly, no hub). I'm using the digital piano as a MIDI controller, with software instrument tracks in Logic. The distortion happens no matter what software instrument I choose, and turning down levels doesn't help. I'm monitoring on headphones connected to the M-Track, with all levels turned way down. When I switch to monitoring on the same headphones connected to the Mac, it sounds clean. I do use an eighth-inch to quarter-inch adapter to plug the headphones into the M-Track, but this works fine when connected to other sources.
  3. I'm using an M-Audio M-Track USB 1.1 interface (no software drivers) with a MIDI keyboard connected to it. The M-Track is set as input and output in Logic (version 10.0.1). The MIDI keyboard sounds poor while monitoring the MIDI keyboard through headphones connected to the M-Track. Even at moderate volumes, with Logic meters at moderate levels, there is distortion (especially with high notes). This is true no matter what software instrument I use, no matter what buffer size I use. Monitoring the MIDI keyboard, connected through the M-Track, through the Mac headphone jack sounds fine. The M-Track sounds fine for other output, like iTunes. The M-Track also sounds fine monitoring audio sources (i.e. microphone and guitar) in Logic. Could there be a problem specifically when the M-Track is set for both input and output (even though this is Logic and M-Audio's recommended setting), with a MIDI source? Is there a USB bandwidth issue when using the device for both input and output? Any suggestions for further troubleshooting?
