  1. Hi! I saw brief mention of this in the release thread for 10.7.8 - does the announced function "Software Instrument tracks now offer an Input Monitoring button to allow instruments to be played independently of track selection" work? If so, might someone explain how to access that button on virtual instrument tracks? For me that would be a GREAT time saver. Thanks! -Curtis
  2. Than you for posting this! I'm also quite surprisingly more affected by this bug than I imagined I could be. This bug shows up in all shared window areas in the main arrange page - I use it to close the library window on the left, or the sample window on the right, as well as the editors and mixers below. None are working in this version. Here's to hoping for a speedy fix. Thanks!
  3. It seems that whenever I have a separate editor window open, the Library Focus triangle next to the settings or instrument button on the left channel strip doesn't work. It's trying to open a library panel on the editor window, NOT in the arrange window. See below, where I've opened a piano roll editor, and placed it just behind and to the left of my main arrange window. I can get this to work on a blank document. Can anyone else see if this is happening to them? Thanks.
  4. This is more a philosophical Logic issue: I can't remember if Logic always has done this, but I've noticed a rather confusing behavior when I "Save As" a file that has multiple Project Alternatives. Logic will rename the first project alternative with the new file name that was entered in the "Save As" dialogue box. This can create a confusing situation, as, most of the time, I'm working on some NEWER track alternative, not the original alternative. I understand Logic renaming the first Track Alternative if there's only one, but Logic probably shouldn't rename any of the track alternatives if there are multiple ones. If it does, it probably should rename the currently active Project Alternative.
  5. sorry i wasn't here - but yes. no need to go via midi tho, you can assign the keypresses directly to Scrub Forward and Scrub Rewind in logic key-commands assignment - works flawlessly. (also you can switch to jog/keypress mode via nAb control center) I ended up having to use the MIDI pass through because I wanted the wheel to behave like a locate wheel, not a jog wheel. But I couldn’t find the appropriate key commands for that (“playhead global parameter”), so I had to use MIDI to make logic think the Nob was a midi controller. And I’m very much liking this Nob control. What other functions are you using your Nob for?
  6. Just tagging this with a big thanks to everyone here for solving a problem I constantly forget how to solve. -Curtis
  7. No worries- I’m happy to say that I was able to set it up to do what I was looking for. If it’s useful for anyone else, I set the nob to keypress control mode, then assigned clockwise and counterclockwise turns to a specific key press. Then using keyboard maestro, I assigned those key presses to arbitrary MIDI CC messages that I then assigned to the play head global parameter in Logic’s controller settings (using the learn feature). I can get more specific if anyone is interested.

  9. I also just got the nob control, and, among many other things, I'm trying to see if I can make it behave like my old Logic Control shuttle/jog wheel. Have either of you found a way to do that? (i.e. are there any key commands that replicate that Jog Wheel behavior?). -Curtis
  10. This is why I love this forum so much. I had a similar problem just this morning: my external drive that hosts all my samples including Logic's Sound Library failed, and I replaced it with a backup, however, Logic gave an error "Sound Library Directory could not be found. Connect the drive [xxx] " I used triplets instructions above, but first I had to "reset" Logic's library (an option in the aforementioned dialogue box) and then Logic downloaded the "essential" content, which was about 1.2GB. After following triplets' steps, Logic reconnected with my external Library with no errors. Many thanks all around.
  11. Hi there - I'm looking for a small external control surface-type something for Logic Pro X for transport controls. I'm not using it for mixing, so I don't need any faders. I'm basically looking for something that can control the Play, Stop, Rec, etc, and an endless fader or jog wheel. I do a lot of work switching between Logic and other apps, and, when I'm in my own studio, I use my MCU-Pro to control Logic Pro in the background (recording, or playing), and would love to find something portable for when I'm off-site (so I don't have to keep switching back to Logic Pro X when it's in the background.) The Behringer X-Touch One is the closest I could find, but ideally, I would love to find something even smaller. Anyone have thoughts? For those who have the X-Touch One, does it work well with Logic? Thanks!
  12. Related - It seems other dialogue boxes are also affected. I'm running into a similar problem when pulling up the "Time Signature" box. In my case, there's no keyboard focus at all when initially clicking the pencil on the Signature ruler. I have to use the mouse button to click on the "number of beats" setting to highlight the number, then I can type a new one. This seems to be a bug.
  13. I can also confirm and commiserate. I use this feature all the time, and this update breaks that dialogue box. I’ve sent feedback to Apple on this, and if you have time, feel free do the same. They definitely read those.
  14. Hi there - Has anyone explored the Remix FX plugin? It is a Logic plugin that is automatically inserted into a stereo out channel strip (and only available, it seems) when importing a GarageBand file that uses the Remix FX. I've recently been using garageBand as some extra/alternate inspiration, and come across this plugin. It's a very strange behaving plugin, and clearly not meant to be edited in logic. However, I'm trying to see if I can make use of it once I move these projects over to Logic. It has no interface (see photo), and the track that is imported contains regions with region fader events above 127. The only way I've been able to make edits in-line is if I "Convert All Region Information to Track Information" then open the "subtrack disclosure triangle." I can't choose any of these fader events in the main automation parameter pop-up menu, because the Remix FX plugin isn't even listed. But I *can* edit them on the sub tracks. If I don't convert region to track based, then the only other ways to edit are through the event list, or the step editor. I would love to be able to use this plugin on a sub channel, but it seems the plugin only works on the "stereo out" channel strip. If I option-drag (copy) to another track (say an aux track), and then copy the region with the fader events (region or track based) to that new track, it won't work. And, in this case, when I open the event list - I can see the same fader events, but there is no longer any entires in the "Length/Info" box. If anyone has come across other ways to use/edit this plugin, or is looking for some deep procrastination, I'd love any input. It would be great to be able to actually make some edits using tracks from GarageBand that use this plugin. Thanks. PS - There's one other topic here (/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=140004) that brings up this plugin.
