  1. I've had my Studio Display for two weeks now and I love it! No issues whatsoever.
  2. Hey @StudioQ1. Thanks for the monitor arm suggestion and link. I will consider that. All the reviews I’d seen on this display were from people doing photo or video work, so it’s good to hear from someone using it in a recording setup and I appreciate your feedback on it.
  3. @StudioQ1 Thanks for sharing your experience with the display! My question pertained to any kind of noise because I’ve seen complaints about all of those. It’s great to hear you found the fans aren’t audible and you don’t have either of those other issues. In some cases people reported a buzzing sound which they weren’t able to solve. Others reported ground loop hum which was solved by using a ground lift adapter on the display or plugging their audio interface into the display rather than into the Mac. I was thinking of getting the tilt and height version like you did. Do you know which arm you’d use if you had gotten the VESA mount version? I also know I’d get the standard glossy version as it looks sharper and is easier to clean that the nano texture. You’re right there are much cheaper alternatives, but I was thinking of splurging on this for a couple of reasons. I thought it would be nice to experience 5k resolution for the sharpness. And the built in webcam, mic and speakers would be nice for video calls, especially having the call audio coming out of the display separate from my studio monitors. I’ve seen the webcam complaints and Continuity Camera is an option if that’s an issue. Overall it would be a big upgrade from the 23” 1080p display I’ve been using for a long time.
  4. Greetings All, I’m running Logic on a Mac mini M2 Pro and I’m considering getting a Studio Display to replace my current display. Is anyone here using it with their Logic setup? I record vocals and acoustic guitar with a mic positioned a few feet from my computer, so I’m curious to know if there are any issues with buzz, hum, or fan noise coming from the display. I’ve read about some issues but I don’t know how common they are. I appreciate any info on this, as well as general comments on how people like using this display with their Logic setups. Thanks!
  5. I used the Amp Designer and Pedalboard plugins with good results when Logic Pro X first came out. But I think the newer generations of amp modeling plugins have surpassed Logic's amps in terms of realism. I still use some of the Pedalboard effects in combination with other amp plugins. I recommend S-Gear if you’re willing to try a 3rd party plugin as it’s reasonably priced, easy to use, and has great sounding presets.
  6. I mostly use Scuffham Amps S-Gear and Line 6 Helix Native. I also sometimes use Guitar Rig, Amplitube, and Bias Amp. S-Gear has great amp sounds and a dynamic feel when playing through it. Helix Native also sounds great and has an incredible selection of amps and pedal effects.
  7. Update: I left it alone and noticed it resolved itself in two stages this morning. First the used space number lowered to indicate what it should be without a duplicate library, though the purgeable number was still inflated. Then after a reboot and giving it some more time the purgeable number reduced to what it was before I started this process.
  8. Thanks sunbrother. That's interesting it happened to you too. Did you just delete content in the folder "Library/Application Support/Logic?" or was there another location too? I was thinking I'd have to delete the library as you suggested, but I just noticed something interesting. The available space went back to where it should be on its own, without me doing anything. The used space is still inflated though, and the extra space that was unavailable is now "purgeable." Does anyone know how to purge the extra space, or will that resolve on its own too?
  9. I previously downloaded all available sounds and was using sounds such as Drum Kits in my projects. I opened SLM to see if there were any new sounds to be downloaded, and "Select All Uninstalled" selected almost all of the content even though it was already there. I've read this has something to do with SLM not seeing receipts for the content. I thought the solution would be to "Download All Available Sounds," which would reinstall sounds that were already there. Now SLM sees the content, but my hard drive has around 70GB less space than before. It's as if the library exists in two locations on my Mac. The size of the "Library/Application Support/Logic" folder is 58GB, around the same as before. I'd like to reclaim the extra space. Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks in advance for any help.
  10. Atlas007, thanks for your input. I ended up redoing my work in a new copy of the original, and so far there are none of those issues. I don't know how or why, but it seems the issues are tied to just that version. If I encounter it again I'll trash the prefs and proceed as you suggested. Strange, huh?
  11. I'm working on a project and I did a "Save As" so I could experiment with a new version. I like the new version and want to continue with it but a couple of problems have cropped up. The main problem is the kick drum went missing. When I was working on it last night, I noticed that DKD wouldn't let me choose a different kick drum. It showed two blank squares where the options would normally be, although the kick I was using was still there. Today when I opened the project, the kick is missing completely. The sound is missing as well as the graphic from DKD. The second problem is that when opening this new version I get the message "Some additional content is needed for this project." The original version of the project doesn't have either of these issues. DKD works as normal and I don't get the message when opening. Also, Sound Library Manager shows I have all the drum content downloaded. Because the original is fine, it seems like something got corrupted with the new version of the project file. Has anyone experienced these issues, and is there a way to fix the new version so I don't have to redo the work I did in it? Thanks in advance.
  12. I installed the Jam Pack Instruments. It turns out some of my older projects used some of those EXS sounds. I'll bounce those tracks and decide whether or not to keep these instruments after exploring them some more. There's no harm in keeping them on my drive apart from taking up more space. For me it's a question of whether they offer interesting alternatives to the newer Logic sounds or third party libraries such as Native Instruments. I'm curious to know whether any users here have opinions on that. I didn't install the Jam Pack Apple Loops. I found those on an older drive, and I'm keeping those on my external samples drive in case I ever need them.
  13. pranaearth, thanks for sharing your insight and workflow with regard to the Jam Pack loops. It looks like I already have the Apple Loops from the Jam Packs. Any comment specifically on the Instruments? I assume those will be EXS24?
  14. Any thoughts on whether this legacy content is useful? I downloaded all the additional content the Sound Library Manager installs by default, but it shows that these Jam Pack Instruments are incomplete and that it would take about 3 GB of space to install. I would assume this content is redundant or superseded by newer content, but I haven't found a list or any details on these instruments.
