  1. gosh, I feel like a dope. I wasn't adjusting the second decimal in minimum time to accept as silence. Maybe I just hadn't worked at this tempo before. Thanks for you patience and just reminding me to go through all the options. Sorry. Thanks, as usual, David
  2. Hi everyone, I'm doing something I've done many times, albeit, I haven't done in a while. I'm using 'remove silence' as the first step in cleaning up drum parts. In this case, specifically a kick drum. In the screenshot, you can see that the kick transients are very much different from snare, and I want to remove all the snare (and lower amplitude noise) in a region. Then I have all my kicks cut up, and can manually fine tune on certain regions that needed a little finesse. But I can't seem to adjust the settings so that only the kicks remain. I'm positive I've done this before. Am I sleeping? Did my brains cells go on vacation? Or did something in the strip silence -> remove silence change how the function works? Thanks so much.
  3. That’s a great trick, thanks so much. I hadn’t thought of that function. I’ve never used before. Will see what happens. With midi, in these sort of experiments, for sure always smpte lock. It can get messy. I’ve been doing stuff like this for a while with midi. As I’m typing this, i think the easiest solution just popped into my head. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this. 😆 I’ll just make my own click in the score editor. 🤦🏽‍♂️
  4. Hi all, alot of my compositon involves poly-metric stuff. Poly-metric in the sense of: two meteres at the same time. For instance, 4/4 and 7/4 whereas a measure in each meter begins and ends at the same time. (i just give this explanation because there are varying interpretations of poly-metric) I asked a few years ago on this forum how to do it with midi notes, and got given a great solution. I now want to record some guitar stuff myself, and my articulation isn’t quite up to the task of nailing it. So, say I record a bar in 4/4 to click. Then I want to record a part on top of that in 7, with the click in 7. The exact same duration as the bar in 4/4. Is there a way to do this, realtivley easily? I mean, i of course could do the math by myslef, and find the exact tempo of the 2nd meter, but i feel that’s goign to get painful when i start adding up time sigs. Plus my math is the pits. cheers A
  5. Hanoi, Montreal or Sicily! Meet me there, beer on me!
  6. insane. I don't know how in the hell, I never knew this. After-fact-take-folder. Holy moly. Mind blown. Brilliant. Thanks so much. * I owe you a beer. A
  7. Hi Atlas, thanks for the reply man. I didn't know you could set it up with a bunch of audio files after-the fact. That's so cool. I mostly just use comping on vocal takes when a singer is doing a verse, or guitar solos etc. How would I set that up? Thanks!
  8. Hey everyone, the last few projects I did were some larger, and longer form, chamber music things. Where on multiple sessions, the performers decided to go 'section-by-section' doing multiple takes of each section of a piece, before moving on to the next. And then in some instances, even going back and doing an earlier section, because they had warmed up or whatever. As I came to edit the piece, I do my usual; I select the each take, and delete the others and line everything up. But in this choir piece that I've screenshot below, it my methods felt clumsy, and I thought there must be a smoother way. This piece has tons of takes of each section (or phrase) Each phrase is 10-30 seconds long. Most of the phrases are nearly identically performed, and there are many options for the 'good take'. Take 3 of phrase 2 might sound great with take 6 of phrase 3, but that doesn't go well with take one of phrase 4 etc etc. Just wondering if anyone has a neat workflow or method, or does logic have some snazzy tech that allows quick switching? Anyway, just trying to speed up the workflow. Maybe there's no shortcut.😁 A

Hi edurbrow, what instrument are you using? Strange that it would work, but it won’t work a few measures before. Have made sure there’s no hidden automation tracks accidentally causing trouble?

  11. All that tells us is that Neutron does not seem to be the culprit. Are there other AU plug-ins used in the crashing/hanging songs? Also it's kind of weird that Logic displays the Neutron instances in your "hanging" song dimmed with exclamation marks as this usually means the plug-in is not available. Is that song using an older version of Neutron maybe? Well, in the important projects that Ive been trying to recover, no, there was just Neutron inserted on audio tracks. But as Crabbi mentioned in one of his posts, it seems to be a bit random, in that, some older projects, certainly with other plugs, would sometimes hang as well. BUT, this just happened: I was looking at Console, as I started one of the projects prone to hanging, and as it hung, I saw a remark in console about “Maschine” and “Komplete Control” (from native instruments.). Although they are not used in the project, and they have passed AU verification, I decided to uncheck them from plugin manager, and now I have opened that specific project 3 times in a row. I will try to hang again to verify those plugs. But it doesnt make sense does it? They aren’t used in the project. (EDIT: no these plugs were not the problem. I just opened the project that I opened 15 minutes ago, and now it is hanging again thx for your sparing some of your time Polanoid to help me. A
  12. That's not a crash at all, that's a hang. No crash log here Oh jeez, after all these years I’ve always incorrectly called it a crash. thanks for straightening that out. I suspect it is not the plugins, as I just opened another project with 8 instances of of Neutron, and things were running smoothly.
  13. If I am to guess, it seems that it is not a plugin causing the trouble. As, different projects, that don't use the same plugins, both won't open. Now, after starting up logic without the driver, then opening one of the problem-projects, then going to apply the driver again, it crashes the moment I click "apply" in the preferences>audio menu. Hey Crabbi, I hope I haven't hijacked your thread. Sorry man. You resolved your problem? You found the plug that was the offender right? thx A
  14. Hey Polanoid, thanks for your reply. Weird situation here: 1. I just turned my audio on, for the project that loaded after using 'control' at start up, and everything works normal. 2 I just tried to do it again, enabled the driver, and Izotope Neutron (many instances on guitars and busses) is dimmed with exclamation marks. When I click neutron, Logic crashes. I don't get a dialog box, just a spinning beach ball and have to force quit. I will try to remove Neutron and see if that helps. (edit: I just removed Neutron from the plugin manager, and things are still broken) sorry for my ignorance, where can dig up the crash log for this? A
  15. Hi everyone, crabbi, did you figure out your problem yet? I have the exact same problem, and like you, I had my projects on an external disk. Now everything is messed up, and some projects open sometimes and sometimes no. Des99, I just did the 'hold control' trick when logic was booting up, and the project launched. I tried it on some others, and they launched too. So im relieved to know that they aren't corrupted. Thanks so much for that. Took so much weight off my shoulders. What is my next step in diagnosing the problem? Crabbi, what did you do next? thanks everyone. I'min a real tense situation with a 3 recording session coming up in on the weekend, and this Logic sickeness is giving me nightmares. !! Thanks A
