  1. Awesome! I somehow missed that and it worked!!! What a project thx so much
  2. I checked out that other thread, and I also took the time to upgrade to Catalina (can't do Big Sur on my setup, although I swear my hardware could handle it...) and I installed Logic 10.6.2 AND after much time spent cleaning out older plug ins, and getting ready for the next production push, I noticed some important plug ins (including software instruments) showed up as being validated in the manager window but don't show up in the drop down. If i drag the successfully validated plug in to a category on the side panel it shows up and works fine. This is really crazy! Thx so much for the help, any ideas?
  3. It's not showing up there either, sorry for the confusion if I had the category wrong in the menu and I can't find it in any of the categories.
  4. Hi, I'm running Logic Pro X 10.5.1 on Mac OS X Mojave 10.14.6 and everything has been working for a long time. Yesterday I noticed I could not find the BPM Counter plug in under the "metering" category. I found this to be very strange because it's a plug in native to Logic. I've been using the following "favorites" plug in folder trick for a while now, and was able to go in and add the BPM Counter to it, and then it showed up in the favorites folder menu, but it won't pop up where it belongs in Metering. I have no idea how many plug ins might be misbehaving this way, but I tried a fresh install of Logic Pro 10.5.1 and am at a loss. I am wondering, after checking how many 32 bit plug ins I am using, if I should focus on installing Catalina and Logic 10.6.2 and see if that works? Or if this is a fixable situation with my current set up. I also tried re-validating the BPM Counter plug in and everything shows up as working but doesn't work properly. I am also having an issue where a plug in I use in Ableton Live 11.0.2 isn't passing validation in Logic Pro X 10.5.1 which has never happened before. Not sure if that's useful information here in general or a separate issue. Thanks!
  5. Turns out I'm still having problems, the playhead isn't necessarily moving, but the screen is flashing sometimes (like some phantom input is happening), and also, my test loop started turning on and off (the yellow bar at the top that creates the parameters of the loop). I may have to get a new midi keyboard, but, I'm wondering if there is something I could possibly reset? I have already re-set the axiom 49, but, is there another option before I buy new gear?
  6. Actually I figured it out. I realized that the playhead was moving in small multiples of 1 bar in a random direction. Which lead me to believe some transport messages were getting at logic somehow. And since there's only a few ways logic can receive transport control messages (keyboard mouse & midi controller) and i already tested my keyboard and mouse I should test the midi controller. So I turned off my axiom 49 and did a factory reset and all seems well! Thanks for your help!
  7. I was actually able to take the time to test this just now, unfortunately the playhead still moves around randomly all over the session or sometimes by a bar or two while listening, or even when I'm not using playback, also, I see the screen flash if Logic is open and there isn't even a session loaded, some kind of input seems to be happening to Logic but only Logic, nothing else on my computer is affected. All other programs were closed. I disabled bluetooth entirely and this still happened so it's not phantom hardware inputs from keyboard or mouse. I also disable all 3rd party plug ins. I tried starting a new session, I can't imagine what else I should try. Any help would be great, I am starting to have no idea what to do. Thanks! The only other thing I can think of (which I can't do until this evening) is restart my computer, make sure no other apps are open, open Logic and try to start producing something from scratch.
  8. I usually am not running any other software while running Logic, but, I will specifically text it today while being sure to only have Logic running. I do however use a ton of 3rd party plug-ins (eek), but I will try running a session later tonight that only uses Logic's plug ins. Have you ever heard of this happening to anyone before?
  9. Over the past week I've experienced the playhead "glitching" during playback, recording, editing, anything. I first noticed this in 10.2.4, I moved back to 10.2.2 (last stable release for me, 10.2.3 had a huge multi-out problem for projects in previous versions as y'all probably know). Anyways, changing versions of logic didn't fix it, I made sure the "movement" was only in Logic and not a problem with my bluetooth mouse etc, and everything did work just fine, except in Logic. I've changed buffer size, tried low latency mode, all the bag of tricks I can think of. This is becoming a serious problem for me and any insight would be great! I'm concerned that I'm going to have to cancel some upcoming sessions
  10. Is there an easier way to select all midi notes in a region, then change their velocity to fixed and their note length to fixed besides using the laborious drop down menu two times per region? If I am working on a pop song where everything is snapped to the grid and I also need all velocities and note lengths to be the same this takes forever!
  11. I will check soon! This community is great. I am going on a vacation for 2.5 weeks and will start to follow up with this, thanks.
  12. I did try audio file - delete file(s). They do get removed from the list of audio files, but, they don't go to the trash where I can delete them from the session folder.
  13. I used to be able to go to the sidebar, select unused audio files, then when I went to delete a pop up would prompt me asking if I was sure I wanted to delete the files. After clicking OK these audio files would be moved from the session audio file's folder (I don't use the package feature), and into my trash where I could then empty them. I don't know if I've accidentally changed something or not, but, when I do this process now I hit delete and the files get removed from the list on the side bar but I am not prompted to delete them from the audio files folder and they also do not move from the audio files folder to the trash. Anyone know if I've accidentally changed a setting in Logic, or, anyone else have this issue?
  14. Sorry for the delay, been busy, thanks for the reply! I haven't tried running activity monitor during that time, I'll have to give it a try. It is very possible that I'm hoping to do more with my current processor than is allowed. As I mentioned in my first post, my set up is quite stable, I'm just trying to make the most out of what I have without totally upgrading entire components by replacing them (for example, getting a new comp). Overall things work well. I've done some research and I'm curious, besides just the DAW, could there potentially be any benefits to going from 8GB ram to 16GB? I may find a place with a return policy, buy the new ram, and give it a test drive.
  15. Yeah, I don't think I'll be moving to a SSD drive right away. I certainly do bounce tracks in place sometimes, or freeze them if I still need the MIDI data to edit down the line while producing a giant of a session in progress. You mention that you think I'd be able "to load more virtual instruments/samples but it will not make things faster". Do you mean I'd be able to work with more of those things, but, would still encounter the system overload error? A bit confused on that point... but thanks for the suggestions!
