  1. Is there a way to add a group of saved instruments, rather than adding each one individually? For example, I want to add 5 instruments for my string section - Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Basses. Rather than load each instrument individually, I'm hoping there is a way I can save these channel strips/instrument instances as a group, so I can just click and have 5 instruments added instantly. I can certainly set up a Project template with them already loaded in, but sometimes I like to start fresh on new tracks and then add as I go. Thanks
  2. I've got a Roland GR-55 pedal and just successfully connected it to my Mac on 10.8.5 to Logic Pro X 10.0.7. I am getting MIDI notes recorded in Logic controlled from a new prototype MIDI compatible bass with a 13-PIN connector. However, while the USB is connected to the GR-55, I don't get any sound output from Logic. I'm new to this sort of MIDI set up (usually just use a controller keyboard). But if I unplug the USB cable, I hear sounds again. Is it sending it back to the pedal somehow? I have a software instrument loaded up, and when the USB isn't connected, I hear the playback from the MIDI notes that the bass triggered. I also have a MIDI cable, but it seemed to work better with just the USB connection, at least for the MIDI tracking. Thanks!
  3. That worked! Thanks so much. It converted it to an AIF, which I guess is normal as the other files in there are AIFs too and were MP3s. Why I couldn't add it by dragging these in remains a mystery but this way works.
  4. I just got all 18 tracks of a filmscore I'm doing back from mixing in mp3, as we're not quite done yet, but I left with mp3s in 16/44.1. I can't import in to Logic Pro X in my build project (that has the entire video and music tracks laid out at the correct spots). I thought perhaps it was because 16/44.1 and my session was in 16/48, but in the past Logic has converted to the right rate with no problem. Then I tried looking at the permissions and my User was set to Read & Write, but everyone else was Read Only. I changed those to Read & Write and it didn't work. I tried starting a new session at 16/44.1 and it still wouldn't work. I tried importing directly in Logic from the Media button on the right and it didn't work (rather than dragging in from iTunes or Finder). I'm at a loss! I can drag any other file from my iTunes in and it imports, but these mp3s will not work. Any ideas? I'm on OSX 10.8.5 with Logic 10.0.7 on a Mac Pro. The mp3s play fine in iTunes. Thanks
  5. Good to know I'm not the only one. I'm going to submit a bug report. I think you can do it here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro.html
  6. OK, really weird glitch, apparently. Here are two screenshots. The first is a project I was in and it had no markers for C4, C3, etc. I closed that project and opened another one, it did have the markers, see screenshot 2. I closed that project and opened the original project and the markers for C3, C4, etc. were BACK! Also, this is in the bottom editor of the main window, so maybe a separate window would fix it too. The initial thought to rectify the issue would be to expand the horizontal slider at the bottom of the keys (the right side of them), in case the C3 markers were being hidden because there wasn't enough space to display them. But I've tried this solution before and it doesn't bring the markers back. I guess I need to close the project and reopen it.. It happens often enough, apparently, that I made this post, so who knows what's going on. Screenshot 2 with markers in a diff project Screenshot 1 with no C3 markers
  7. Why does the piano roll only sometimes show me the C1, C2, C3, etc. in the vertical piano key display to the left of the MIDI edit regions in the Piano Roll? It's helpful to have and I can't figure out why sometimes it doesn't display that information. Thanks Logic Pro 10.0.7 Mac OSX 10.8.5
  8. Thank you! It is, but I'll check on the projects that have had issues.
  9. I don't know what's changed, but usually I drag an audio file in from the desktop or iTunes in to Logic Pro X's Arrange window. It plays fine, etc., I do my thing and close the program. When I reopen it, I find that the audio file has not been transferred to the Project's Audio Folder… Where is the setting to change this so that when I drag a file in, it copies it to the Audio Folder? Thanks Logic Pro X 10.0.7 Mac OSX 10.8.5
  10. OK, this issue is still going on on NEW projects in Logic Pro X. To add to this. If you open your Marker Window and click the Catch Playhead button in the top middle, it will only allow markers to be edited/named in chronological order. Try this. Add a marker at bar 10, then add a marker at bar 1. Go to your Marker Window and double clicker Marker 2, type in JOE - the text automatically changes to Marker 1 and I can never edit the text in Marker 2. That problem is solved. Now, When I have Catch Playhead disabled in the Marker Window, and I try to change the SMPTE start time of the Marker 2, it automatically adds a 02 in the hours field like I mentioned above. So say I say View > Show Event Position and Length as Time and click on the Position to change it to 01:00:30:00.00 - to start the marker at the :30 spot, when I hit enter it changes it to 02:00:30:00.00. GAH! Does this happen with other people? My specs: Logic Pro X 10.0.7 OSX 10.8.5 Mac Pro 2 x 2.4 Quadcore Xeon 8 GB 1066 DDR3 MOTU 828MKII M-Audio Keystation 88es
  11. I read the article on Apple about Saving Projects at: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13433 But, what is the advantage to saving as a Package vs saving as a Folder? They both take up one space in your list view, and it seems they don't have any difference, besides the fact that Folder is easier to get to your subfolders, whereas the Package you have to right click and say Show Package Contents. Thanks
  12. This is killing me and it just recently started. When I place a marker and go to change the time position of it, I click View > Show Event Position and Length as Time in the Marker Window. Say I want the marker to be at 1:00 of the piece in relative time, I click the marker to change the position by SMPTE time and enter as follows: 01:01:00:00, it automatically changes my hours so it looks like this - 02:01:00:00. Which is bar 1700-something at 112 bpm. I've ensured that my synchronization for my project settings is playing bar 1 at 01:00:00:00. The movie start doesn't matter if it's at 00:00:00:00 or 01:00:00:00 - in fact, I'm not even using a movie. What could be going on here?!
  13. Hi I've never had issues with Logic 9 in this, but now with Logic Pro X, when I set my Synchronization under File > Project settings to a time code that is, let's say, at 01:02:05:05.10, and I already have the audio track of a temp audio file in Logic and LOCKED. It starts the movie at the right time for Bar 1, but the audio track does not line up right. It's like there's a "wall" at bar 0 or bar -2 that doesn't let the audio file beginning get pushed back. Hopefully that makes sense. What I've been having to do is trim the audio file down from the left to a second or 2 before my start point that I want at bar 1, but this shouldn't have to be done, IMO. Any suggestions?
  14. Where is the button that makes channels wider? I don't see it. Maybe send a pic? And - I don't see the comments below channels option either. that sounds cool too. Thanks
  15. Wait - is there a way to display both musical grid and time? Like my 2nd pic above from Logic 9? Thanks!
