  1. I just bought a 43" screen and the only thing holding me back from full resolution is I can't read the small text. You have it for safari and mail....pretty Please with cherry on top.🙂
  2. I just got a refurbished 2017 imac(apple unwittingly gave me 16gb RAM when I paid for 8!), specs should be in signature. I'm using a Motu 828mk3 (firewire only) with thunderbolt3>thunderbolt to firewire. That's 2 adapters and cost around $80 together. It's been a couple of weeks and interface is working good. The computer is handling projects far better than my previous 2009 imac 2.8, i7, 7200rpm hdd 8gb ram. I can record at a 32buffer with 44.1k without pop's. I didn't know if the motu would work and there isn't much positive info on the web regarding firewire into the new thunderbolt3, so I took a chance and figured I could send the adapters back if nothing else. Unless someone here has that interface and chimes in I don't think you'll find out if it will work. USB 2 is faster than it was, but I was looking at the roundtrip latency of different interfaces being suprised that they haven't made progress like I would expect. I'm thrilled with my new computer! even though it's a 21.5"
  3. Thanks for the input, I'm gonna play it safe and download to internal then external.
  4. I’m downloading some superior drummer 2 expansion packs to my new iMac (High Sierra). I know after it’s downloaded (in about 7 hrs) I’ll have a choice to install it to an external. Should I download them directly to external? And if so how do I do it? Thanks
  5. I don't know why your audio files look like they do (initially). I would focus on figuring out why they don't look more like your second picture and go from there.
  6. This might not be the answer your looking for but, Send them all to AUX track then automate that Aux track I think the + and - keys on a numeric keyboard will move your fader plus or minus 1
  7. I don't know about how you have your Outputs configured. But sounds like you need to mute the out in mix control (so your not direct monitoring)
  8. Sounds like you could have direct monitoring on...through your interface software.
  9. you could try unchecking put hard drive to sleep when possible under preferences/energy saver. I have mine checked but I'm usually dealing with small projects and when I hit record I do get a beach ball followed by a long pause waiting for the external hard drive to spin up to speed.(the HD meter spikes too) but I don't have a problem with overload messages and recording is just on hold for a minute.
  10. If mavericks changes the cpu spikes for anyone, please post. I got too much time in trying to fix this.
  11. I don't "think" it has anything to do with new imac's, I was fine on snow leopard and L9. Now 1 simple software instrument is giving me clicks and pops or CPU spikes. I hope a software update in the near future fixes this! I've wasted a ton of time on this already.
  12. I was recording one software inst. and thought I would stop inputting midi (playing keyboard) watched the meter and it would still spike randomly. I'm thankful that logic9 is working for me. But this sucks iMac i7 2.8 with 4 gigs....I know that's not much ram these days, but come on 1 instrument (from logic)
