  1. Hmmm, that setting was already set correctly. But now after a computer reboot, Logic is working as expected. Seems finicky. But thank you! Now I know there is a setting about take folders.
  2. All of a sudden, when I record twice on the same track, the 2nd recording just overlaps the 1st one instead of creating multiple takes that I can work with. I can click one or the other region and it seems to make it "primary" ? But I don't want that. I just want multiple takes in a take folder like normal. The weirdest part is that in the same file just minutes before, it DID create multiple takes on a different track. Also - it looks weird in the Flex mode editor, too. Like you can see both versions overlapping each other there. ???
  3. I want to quantize only selected portions of my MIDI track, but Logic keeps quantizing the entire track. I even tried cutting it up into regions AND moved some of the regions to a different track altogether. Even then, quantize affects every single note that was in the original file. Please see screenshot. Note that it says "All regions selected (8)" when I quantize, but it changes all 16 of my regions across both tracks (including the track that isn't even selected).
  4. Sometimes when I turn on Flex for a track, Logic seems to alter and screw up the entire track, and I can't figure out how to undo it (other than turn off Flex altogether). All I want to do is manually move a couple of notes on a vocal track. So there are 2 problems I'd like to solve: 1. Can I make it stop doing all these automatic edits that are counterproductive and, instead, ONLY add manual timing edits? 2. If no to #1, how do I get rid of everything it's doing and start fresh? In this forum, I read people recommending that you use the eraser tool to get rid of the automatic edits. It doesn't work for me. When I use the eraser tool on my track, nothing happens. I've attached a video. Thanks!
  5. I've got a track from a singer using Apple earbuds to record. The earbuds repeatedly hit against his neck as he was singing, and it made a distracting noise on his recording. Is there an easy way in Logic to remove or reduce this noise? When I looked up noise removal on Google, the results seemed to be about removing more consistent noises like a fan, hum, etc.
  6. Thank you, fuzz! I did not know about the beat mapping. Very helpful.
  7. I have a guitar track where the tempo varies a bit here and there. I want to use it as the basis for the tempo in my project because all of my vocalists listened to this track when they recorded. The vocal tracks will need to be modified a bit (flex time) because people were too late on some of their pick ups. Can I use the ADAPT or AUTO tempo setting, but have it based ONLY on the guitar track? I do not want any **automated** alterations to the tempo of vocal tracks that I import. I want to manually edit them as needed. It seems like when I try both ADAPT and AUTO, Logic makes changes to the vocal tracks that I didn't ask for. Example: I made a bunch of flex edits to vocal track 1 to match the guitar, and I was happy with it. Then I added another vocal track and made manual flex edits to it (tempo edits). When I went back to vocal track 1, it had been altered MORE (automatically) - and it didn't properly line up with anything anymore. Should I just stick with KEEP, or is there a way to make ADAPT/AUTO work?
  8. I am making part-specific learning tracks (4 parts). I'd like to save the volume level *combinations* that I'm using for each version, without making 4 different projects. As a hypothetical example: 1. Tenor missing track: Want the bass to be +3, baritone and lead to be 0.0 2. Bass missing track: Want the lead to be +2, bari to be 0, and tenor to be -2 Is there a way to save different volume combinations all within the same project, so that I could activate "Tenor missing volume levels" and later activate "Bass missing volume levels"? I want a way to remember exactly what I did w/ volume levels for each version in case I have to come back later and tweak something. But I am hoping to avoid creating 4 different projects, because they are all using the same source files.
  9. I am having the same problem as jbilman... anyone have answers? If I bounce a track, the flex pitch adjustments are not applied to the new track. If Track A is my original track, I would like to create a new track based on it that applies the flex pitch adjustments --- in a way that I cannot revert back to the original audio.
  10. I've got a voice track that I want to bounce in place. Apple's website says (https://support.apple.com/kb/PH12954?locale=en_US): 1. Select the track 2. Choose File > Bounce > Track in Place (or use the Bounce Track in Place key command). In the File menu, instead of Bounce, I have "Bounce Project or Section." None of the options in the resulting dialog seem to be the same as bounce in place best I can tell. I am using Logic 10.1.1
  11. OK, this is very very weird. I tried several times to do what you said, Eric. No cursor change. So then I did "bounce in place" on the entire comp. When I went BACK to the comp and take 5, it let me click drag as you suggested. Seems buggy to me.
  12. I can't. The cursor doesn't change when I hover where the blue meets the grey. I think that I had take 6 in those measures and then I deleted that portion of take 6. A bug maybe?
  13. There's a part of my song where there is silence, and I want to replace it with what's in take 5. When I click the greyed area of take 5 that I want to add, nothing happens. I am in Quick Swipe Comping mode. Logic Pro X. screenshot
  14. I imported a MIDI file that was created with Finale 2012 for Mac. I can see all of the note data in the piano roll, but no sound will play. See attached screenshot. Please keep in mind, I am a relative novice at Logic Pro X. Thanks!
