  1. [soundcloud] [/soundcloud] A fun vocal-driven electronic rock song. Synth: - TyrellN6 (freeware) Synth FX: Acon "Multiply" (for extra fatness) Organ: LPX preset "Rhythm Organ" Organ FX: Soundtoys DevilLoc (for heavy squash/distortion). Drummer track: Nikki - "Drop the Beat" (with some tweaks) Vocals: - Cad M179 LDC - Cytomic "the glue" compressor - Waves VEQ-3 (equalizer) Vocal Bus: - Space Designer (Preset: 1.6s short vocal hall)
  2. I feel like I mix really muddy, but can't figure out how to get the clean. crisp sound that mainstream music has. It's like I want something that reverb and lots of compression gives me without the muddiness that comes with it. Does that make sense? Anyway, the bass needs to be retracked by someone who can play a bass really well (aka: not me). Any and all thoughts greatly appreciated. 3. screen cap: http://www.cockos.com/licecap/ set the frame rate higher to capture what's going on (at least 16fps I'd say). So I closed all the apps in my menu bar, and that seems to have fixed it. I tried reopening them one by one and checking the cursor in-between each one, but I have them all back up and running with no issue in LPX anymore. This has been an issue for weeks though. I I guess the fix is to just close out of everything in menubar and reopen anything might want. Works for now anyway. I have actually been staying away from recording because of this issue. Editing has been really really annoying. Glad I figured something out.
  4. my screen cap software makes it look like it's a lot slower, but basically the cursor icons only change while the mouse is moving and keep going back to the default cursor when stationary. This is especially frustrating because I don't know when to click to engage certain functions like looping and such. Anyone experience this or know what one might do to fix it? http://f.cl.ly/items/2F311G3u0q2u1B38043U/blinkyblinkenstein.gif
  5. The kick and snare change, but not the hi hat. I need it all to change.
  6. I have a good song going and all tracked out, but I realize now that I want the drummer track to play like it's 60bpm instead of 120. So I guess I need to cut the tempo of the whole song without the tracks shrinking in half (how do I do that?) or I need to find a way for the drums to do cut time. I noticed a little cut "1/2" text when I hover over "kick & snare" but it doesn't appear to be something I can click, and the hi-hat needs to be half time as well. I could go in and edit it, but I really want to get all the grooves as close as possible before I covert it to midi. Probably needless info and details but I'm using Adrian on the "prospect park" preset at 120bpm. Here's what it sounds like with the drummer at 120: http://cl.ly/1T1T2c2A2046
  7. problem.mp3.zip take a listen to that. I'm doing slow smooth sirens and then counting to 20. Focusrite Forte on OSX 10.9.2 I tried changing my buffer, it did not work. I tried restarting and unplugging my interface then plugging it back. Nothing has solved it. I thought maybe a really really smart person could tell what's happening from the affected (infected?) audio file. I'm going to contact focusrite, but their support isn't always the fastest or the greatest.
  8. I had it happen again and unplugging all midi devices didn't fix it. unplugging my interface and plugging it back it in did though. Oddly my interface has no midi features. Even though the error mentions midi for me.
  9. Oh shoot! I should've known to look there. Thanks for finding that and not even being condescending about it, ha! It didn't even cross my mind that there'd be a DAW control manual.
  10. can it get zoomier from that shortcut? (I'm mapping control surface functions) EDIT It does. It's as zoomed as much as you resize the track.
  11. Sorry, I don't think I know the right lingo to search properly for this. Is there a keyboard shortcut to set the track height for a single track? If not, can it be done?
  12. You can put the Focusrite Forte into "daw control" mode so the knob controls certain functions in logic. I can press the knob to play/stop, but it's also set to zoom when I move the wheel left and right. When I do that though, the screen just flashes white for a second. Does this mean it's attempting to use a shortcut or command that isn't mapped? The forte is preconfigured (it even shows the LP icon on the screen) and it lists the functions it can send to logic. Is there a way to manually set whatever signal is happening to zoom?
  13. If there is a way to get a brush kit (drums) going with the default drum libraries, let me know. I was thinking maybe there is a change sticks setting or something I am not aware of or a brush kit buried somewhere in the library under an unobvious name. If not, is there are good library that someone could recommend that will work with logic out of the box? I don't want to get a 3rd party drum plugin. thanks so much in advance!
  14. I unplugged my LPD8 and it started up again with no errors. Could it have something to do with having two midi devices on separate midi busses? IE: my Akai LPD8 and Cakewalk UM-3G
  15. I got this, and now I can't open my session, it just crashes right away. Specs in sig.
