  1. Hi Camillo, Ta for the advice, i'm used to Cubase SX which lets you slice and move in it's sample editor so yeah will use strip silence and the event editor. As for the undos, still not sure as it is in the sample editor i've upped the undos. Will just have to experiment with different settings. Cheers!!!
  2. Hello good Logic folk, Tried looking for this on the forum but gave up after going through dozens of posts. Firstly when correcting the timing of a live drum part i found the audio quantize useful but at times undesirable. I can cut a slice of the audio and move it in a zoomed in part in the arrange page but in the sample editor i can't seem to do it. You can cut, copy and paste a selected part of a region but it would be good to hightlight a section and move it or at least slice it and then move, any ideas??? Secondly, in reference to the audio quantise; i found if i got a bad result there were times after i listened to it in the arrange page that it wouldn't let me undo what i had done so i was left with a destructive edit. Am i missing something here?? I have multiplle undos checked in the sample editor preferences. Thanks, Druw
  3. Hi folks you may already know this but through trial and error i've learnt a few tips regarding soloing and muting in Logic pro 7.2. Firstly selecting a region and either pressing 'S' or 'M' solos or mutes it respectively. When a region is soloed in the above way if you then drag a box around other regions they are then soloed; this is great for isolating neighbouring backing vocals, horn lines etc without having to click on the individual tracks in the arrange or track mixer windows. Lastly as David pointed out to me, if you want to solo or mute tracks in real time whilst a song is playing, do it in the track mixer you get an instant response whilst in the tracks in the arrange window you get a slight delay which can miss the desired effect. Cheers, Druw.
  4. Yeah thanks it's much quicker on the channel, shame it's not as quick on the arrange page; more convienient that way. I'll have a look at the buffering as well. Onwards and upwards!!
  5. Hello Peeps!! I used to use Cubase SX and when you soloed or muted a track in that programme it happened instantly. On my Logic pro 7.2 i have a second or so delay which is a bit annoying if you want to knock out sounds on the fly. Are there any setting i can change to alleviate this?? I know you have an on the fly punching in and out setting but is there one for soloing and muting?? Druw
  6. Great!! i think that clears it up for me, for everything to match up and all run smoothly i'll assign objects one of your ways and as for the Bus channels i'll add more in my environment in my autoload song. Big thanks from across the pond!!
  7. Hello all, Maybe i missed a bit in the manual but i'm a little confused. I use Logic 7.2 and i get caught out sometimes because i can choose the track type (say audio track 6) in the left channel strip view and then go into the track on the arrange page and change the channel on the dropdown box there (say audio track 7) but the track stays the same in the left channel; now the track has 2 audio tracks assigned to it!! Is this a bug and which has the priority? Also if i wanted to make the the track a Bus channel in the left strip i can choose any of the 64 i have available but in the arrange channel box i only have 8 available, if i want more i have to add them in the environment. Is the moral of the story to only use the lefthand channel box?? If so why be able to do it 2 ways which confuses things as they don't change together?? Am i being an idiot?? Am i fussing over nothing??
  8. Cheers guys!! i think my problem is different to the one above as the 828 mk 2 is very stable and i've got the latest driver, Apple reckon it's the memory so i have to go through the long and painful process of trying different ram chip configurations to islolate the problem
  9. Hello, i'm new to Macs, was for years a pc man, how do i do a hardware test??
  10. Yeah i'm using Battery 3 which is Universal binary, i think basically there is something up with the hardware, just my luck.
  11. Help!!! i'm using Logic 7.2.3 with a dual 2.66ghz Intel Mac Pro G5, 2gb RAM, i use Battery 3 for drums and my soundcard is a MOTU 828mk 2. The problem i have is that every so often Logic quits suddenly or even worse the whole computer crashes and i have to reboot. The people at Apple help have suggested it's a soundcard problem, I've the latest driver for the MOTU but it's hard to test as the crashes are intermittent. Could it have something to do with Battery, my Logic/OS X settings?? Everything else works fine but this is really getting me down.
