  1. It really is great fun! I'm messing about trying to get faders to do something different without flipping them - control EQ Band Gain (whilst putting the frequency on to the VPot). I can get the fader to adjust the gain and it even changes the value as desired after setting mode and multiply values accordingly. But as soon as I take my finger off it jumps back to bottom of its travel. If I move the EQ Gain on screen the fader stays stationary but the display above it moves accordingly. Any suggestions how to get data to move the fader?
  2. Thanks - I think I have got my head around zones and modes. One question though - if I create a new mode or zone using the '+' button it seems to (sometimes but not always) mess up the indexing? For example if I had Mode Change to something like EQOn and it was working fine if I then inserted a new mode above EQOn for example 'Sends', any mode change that was previously pointing to EQOn is now pointing to Sends? This would appear to indicate that these are refined using their location index and not explicating typed names? Is that correct? Also is there any better way of saving copies of my assignments rather than keep copying the preferences file?
  3. Hey - thanks for you detailed response. I have already discovered that none of the controller assignment stuff is trivial and that even making a small change can break a load of other stuff. But I do like a challenge - the other hat I wear is that of software developer so none of what you said puts me off, although it would be good to know what is possible and what is not possible before spending hours attempting it! Is there any documentation that covers this in a detailed fashion?
  4. I'm using a SSL UF8 control surface along with Logic. Whilst I am very happy with this I feel things could be better, or at least suit my way of working better. I appreciate the the SSL UF8 is limited to working with the Mackie control interface and as such may have certain restrictions imposed as a result of that. I am using controller assignments in Logic to set things up as I would like and have made quite a few changes that really work for me (essentially I'm trying to get as close to a real mixing console as I can). Whilst playing about with the EQ it got me thinking that what would be quite nice would be to assign EQ frequency to each of the VPots and the gain to the fader. However whilst it's relatively straightforward to map the VPots to EQ frequency. It seems impossible to map the faders to the gain settings whilst in Channel View EQ Mode and then return them back to faders when exiting EQ Mode. Has anybody else played around with this type of thing with either the SSL or the Mackie and had any success?
  5. Hi all! Hoping someone can help me with an issue I have! I am editing some audio (flex pitch / time) in conjunction with a midi channel. What I would like to do is to be able to view the midi channel data full screen on one monitor as score (piano roll will suffice if not) whilst on my other monitor I would like to view the audio channel flex pitch data full screen. Try as I may I can not find a way of doing this. It gets frustrtaing clicking back and forth between the two to check the are both as required at the same point in time, also the zoom settigs seem to randomly change everytime I click away from one track to another and then back which makes finding the exact note I'm looking for more time consuming. Thanks!
  6. I am thinking of buying one of the new Mac Mini M1s as a secondary system - I can not justify the Aprice to spec up the hard drive, so my question is, if I but the 256GB model and use a 1TB External SSD drive can I record and mix large projects to it? Is it going to be as good as an internal drive - I produce varied stuff. From recording live bands to 24 inputs over a long period of time (1 + hour) to long classical recordings at 192 or 96K.
  7. I have a completed mix - most tracks are quite heavily automated. Lets assume I want to bring the overall level of a track down by a few db whilst listening to the mix, is there a way I can just grab the fader and pull the whole track down including the automation moves?
  8. I have a audio vocal track which I want to correct / fix using flex pitch - this is quite a tedious process and as I have played the melody as a midi track (so I can manually cross reference pitch) I was wandering if I could get it to automatically adjust the pitch of each note in the flex pitch editor - much like I would using an external keyboard.
  9. Turns out this was caused becuase I had a couple of files on a different hard drive. Consolidating everything to one location fixed it.
  10. I am working on a flex pitch adjustment in the editor I have the zoom set how I need it and all is well. I then click on a midi track (that contains the melody) to check some pitch values. When I click back to the part I was adjust flex pitch on it has zoomed out to maximum. This is getting very annoying how can I get the zoom position to stay the same across views / editors?
  11. While on the subject of automation - is it possible to type in the gain level rather than keep dragging the point to the desired level? Thanks
  12. I had done that... but I have now found them - for some reason they have ended up in a Vocal track stack I had created right at the bottom of the project. Thanks for your help!
  13. I have studio kit as the track with corresponding midi track / data - I can't split it out into individual tracks in the track view (or can I ?)
  14. I am using a producer drum kit on a project - split out into all of the individual outputs. I would like to automate some of the fader levels. (Kick In and Snare Top), I have been able to do this from the mixer but I would like to go in and specifically edit the automation curve in the project time line (as I can with say the vocal audio channel). However when I show automation I can not see / find the automation data for these items. I can find a smart control for kick & Snare but editing these, whilst the do adjust the respective levels, the changes are not reflected on the mix console. Thanks!
