  1. Asking here, couldnt figure out how to do this via Spitfire's site info. Downloaded a fancy template for orchestral style music production. Many many tracks. Downloaded a bunch of sounds from them, how does one connect those sounds to the instrument tracks? Assume this very different then bringing in audio files alone...
  2. Hi des99, appreciate your expertise here. I tried that early in the search as well, not found on my setup
  3. Your goal is to add Bösendofer piano to one of your tracks in you project. You dont recall where Apple located this sound. Steps that lead to issue: 1. launch Logic Pro v10.7.8 2. add a software instrument 3. click on Apple loops 4. type in "Bösendorfer" or "Bosendorfer" in the Apple Loops search field 5. no results 6. use any Mac search app to find either string in a filename anywhere on your Mac or external drives - ie, do you have this sound at all? 7. You have Bösendorfer named files on board on external disk (.caf files). These were part of "Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro" when you had FCS 6 - back in the day 8. drag all these .caf files into Apple Loop browser 9. wait ten minutes for indexing to finish, then attempt to search - leads to nothing found 10. note that "80s Craze bass" is found, it too is a .caf file... and the externally based Bösendorfer .caf files play if previewed. String searches like "acid" and "amped" work fine, Apple Loops seems to be working normally 11. how to get Apple Loops to recognize files on an external drive?
  4. cant remember ever having to modify my account type to use an Apple capable app. But - apparently the rationale is that now user's are expected to upgrade their accounts from standard to Admin - in order to use an app. Unbelievable, and a gross security concern. Why they didn't code a temp pop up, as we have seen for decades on Windows and Mac computers, is mind boggling. Be that as it may, after I upgraded my standard account to admin, I was then able to see the other Sound Library menu options, and relocate my Sound Library as before to external hardware. Issue resolved for now. HTH anybody wading thru this...
  5. background: my music Mac was working fine for months on Big Sur / Monterey and associated Logic versions. Fast forward to present: now on macOS Ventura 13.0.1 running Logic 10.7.5, app crashing on launch... T/shooting: a. removed all plugins b. deleted Logic pref files c. no wireless anything d. no dock, no external monitors. Reduced to 99% Apple tech only. e. launches in Safe Mode - a place to start g. left the external drive connected - where I housed my Logic Sound Library - h. determined it is in series with the issue as in, if I remove the drive, suddenly 10.7.5 launches Now Im trying to recreate my Sound Library setup and the 10.7.5 app dialogs point to a "reset" function that should lead to ability to launch with the ext drive connected. But app wont launch. So Ive left the ext drive disconnected and hope to use the Sound Library menu function(s) to recover, I have another external drive that has never been used before w Logic. As I understand the "reinstall sound library" option - this should be coded to install only to the Mac itself. Ok, fair enough. Sadly, if it's working, it provides no visual feedback, ie, progress bar, or even dialogs. Couldn't corroborate this on internet, perhaps your setup does provide installation feedback as most Apple apps, processes normally do. If I leave it on and connected to Gigabit ethernet (974Mbps) it still refuses to tell me if it's done. In any case, if it were done, coding should be such that, once complete in downloading the Sound Library, it should present new menu options, especially the one to relocate to an external drive. But it never does.... So I tried to reinstall Logic Pro and this changed nothing. I just got commissioned to write music for two new songs, need this setup working again asap, what am I missing?
  6. thanks for your quick reply. Perhaps I need to change my question. I dont need to save a preset, I merely need to display and audition it, and I expect the track to mirror what Ive chosen in the vst, just like Alchemy does. Like many vst's these does, there are hundreds of presets, there must be a way to have Logic read a vst synth's internal presets on demand, display it in the track quickly. Thus when I save my project, I wont have generic named tracks, but ones that actually reflect my choices.
  7. just bought Pigments vst synth, but I dont see a way to save the patch so that it displays in the track listing, like for example Alchemy does. When I quit and restart Logic, my (midi data) recording is still there, but the track name is seemingly stuck on "Inst 1". How to fix this? Please see attached pic - thanks in advance!
  8. 1. record some audio, eg a few sentences of human read words 2. use strip silence to remove silence 3. edit audio regions as is customarily done for this genre, and with our case, with duet narration, edit characters into their own tracks 4. eventually make a mistake and accidentally drag an audio region from one track to another a. desired behavior - audio regions in the nearby track do not allow themselves to be modified. An accidentally moved audio region put on top of another, creates a warning, or at least does not allow this. "Are you sure you want to overlay char A over char B" (or if you are making music, eg, overlay drums on top of lead vocals)? b. current behavior - audio regions, sometimes hundreds of them in our case (audiobooks) - when accidentally dragged to any other track (character) - cause unwanted edits to the nearby track's audio regions, creating an editing nitemare. Because the select all following motif is in constant use in LP, sometimes this mistake is not immediately noticed. Only way to undo - is to undo - sometimes many times - losing work and effort along the way. This gets more complicated when 2-5 characters are having a group discussion / scene. It becomes even easier to accidentally move lines from one char to another's track by accident. Since we use unique color coding for all chars, its at least visually obvious that a mistake has occured. Without turning on the "lock track" function, is it still possible to keep audio regions on one track - no matter what?
  9. No - I couldn’t get a snapshot any other way then to capture the image in real time. Notice how the red of the recording track doesn’t go all the ways to the top of the track... if I try to record on any other track - the record area will go to the top of the track. Is this a glitch?
  10. see pic for better explanation. Never seen this from Logic before in many years of use. Notice the recording playback - which normally appears full track height, is something less than that now. How do we get back to normal? Is is still safe to record on this track? How do we avoid this phenomena in the future? Our VO board op today fat fingered something - as you can see with the take regions (which we never use), could this be related?
  11. anyone know what the key command is that causes LPX to do something called "analyzing transients"? What ever this is = surely don't need! Now I cant get the project to open anymore without waiting 15mins for it to stop "analyzing transients"... I searched the Keyboard shortcuts matrix and removed all references to transients, but the project STILL persists... TIA
  12. "disable flex on the recording track" - this does nothing to resolve the issue - if you fat finger some keys in LPX v 10.5 - it can lead to you waiting AWHILE to even open a project. The fat finger while the project was open evidently led to the need for Logic to perform "analyzing transients" without asking first "are you sure you want to do this". Flawed coding by any measure.
  13. had to open a project from 2017, to my surprise the usual: 1. select audio region 2. apply gain change (via upper left Region menu options) Doesn't work as expected. What does happen instead is this: When mouse click-dragging the Region / Gain field (upper right of screen) - the region's waveform is seen to get smaller and bigger. It does not however get louder or softer. Bummer! 10.5 bug?
  14. Ive reset to factory defaults and one would think their base offering would allow simple two mic recording by default. Please see attachment of their MixControl panel. Recall that playback works fine, talent and producer hear each other ok. It is in recording where the cans are not heard for either. I don't know if the issue is with LPX or the SFP40... thanks for your help here all!
