  1. Hi Des99, I am, but I get this effect when just soling the drum also... I should say I am getting these sounds from Splice, which I have only just started using. If I use the stock Logic kits I don't get these issues. Many thanks, L
  2. Hi all, Long time no post... I was wondering whether anyone else has experienced this when loading samples into drum machine designer the samples seem to phase. I've set all the velocities for my kick drum to the same, all samples on one-shot so should be playing all the way through, but when I play a loop back with the kick sampled I can hear this odd phasing going on. Same for other pieces of kit as well - I can hear it on snares, hi hats and claps. It's sending me mad! Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance!
  3. Hi Eric, Thanks very much for your thoughts - I have downloaded the whole content again, but no luck. Very strange indeed...
  4. Hello all, I wonder whether anyone else has had the same issue - for some reason my Producer Kits have disappeared from the library menu. This follows upgrading to my new computer from Time Machine, upgrading Logic to 10.2 and running 10.10.5. I used to see them on my old computer but no more, and I have no idea how to access them other than through the library channel strips. Does anyone have an idea of how to get them back? Thanks very much in advance!
  5. Logic 8 does have screensets, and they work in exactly the same way as 7
  6. Have you tried setting your track automation mode to write and doing a pass of the track?
  7. You cannot do this in Logic in the same way. There are other suggestions though... You could use the enhance timing plugin, but I'm not sure how great that is or if it works well, but worth a shot. You could also slice up your audio files on the transients and at the end of the hits, quantise the positioning of the regions and then pull back the start of the hit to reveal the audio before. This is something I will do for example when a drummer is just hitting the kick drum in a four to the floor rhythm and it works really well. A little trick for the above tip to make the process easier is to beat map the region you want to adjust, and then just change the start of the region to where Logic analyses the beat. Not 100% efficient, but it will get you most of the way. Or you could get them to play the part again. You say that you can't be bothered with chopping up the audio files, but have you looked at the relevant key commands? You could make this process very snappy. Logic's attitude I think is rather than map audio to beats, map beats to audio in beat mapping style. More musical I think the manual says. They seem to have disdain for Beat Detective and all the others out there...
  8. This is the way I'm going to go now. Leave all my Logic 7 projects to Logic 7. Got an evening in tonight with a drummer friend of mine and we're going to nail v 8 (and some wine probably!) Another problem is that I'm on a small screen, and would really appreciate some more real estate. I have to say that I still (currently) prefer the way v 7 looked, but that might just be because I haven't given it enough time. I'll report more when I've finished vegging over the next couple of days
  9. So I got in last night and bit the bullet - I installed v.8. I had had it for a few days, but didn't want to mess up some projects I was on. I decided just to install Logic and the Jam Packs. 1st thing I noticed is that the stock samples have changed location or name or something, and I had to go in and find them. Quite annoying, but not the end of the world. It's very grey! I really liked the colours of Logic 7, and found the new interface to be quite alien. It's going to take a while to get used to I imagine, and I keep trying to click on things where they used to be and not getting anywhere. Again, it's a matter of time I guess, but it doesn't stop me from feeling rather nostalgic. The new audio engine is awesome. In some of my mixes I really noticed much more clarity. Whether this is because of the improved effects or the engine itself, it makes a noticeable difference, and I was surprised at how clear things were. Really, really lovely sound. Some of my MIDI notes have moved. Only slightly, but I can notice it when listening back, although obviously in the matrix they are still in the same place. I guess this is the new timing engine. This has also played around with some of my fades - some very fast fades are now choppy rather than smooth. Anyway, I thought I might share my experiences. On one hand, I really like the new sound I get from Logic. On the other hand, I do find the interface a little confusing, and the upgrade hasn't been completely smooth in terms of carrying projects over. Time and patience is the key I'm sure. Over and out, L P.S. Has anyone managed to get any decent psychoacoustic effects from the binaural panner?
  10. Sounds to me like your pan aw might be set to -3db compensated?
  11. Just as a thought, if you have a song like that, save it as a template, you would surely have it like that for new songs?
  12. Wow. I have never, ever seen that, nor heard of it. I don't see why this wouldn't be possible, if some songs aren't translated to the new view. Maybe even it could be possible to switch to Logic's latest Channel EQ. Could this be something that someone needs to stumble across like the automation arrange?
  13. No, you need to have the eq open. It's meant more as a reference tool that something editable. With it's size, it ould be near on impossible to get decent changes...
  14. For me it's probably Dylan - John Wesley Harding. Awesome, awesome album with some of the most amazing lyrics. Check out The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest. And yes, TOTO are heroes. Hold the line is amazing, for all the reasons mentioned. I would also say Africa, but I just can't help laughing at the lyrics... Oh, and have you seen that video!!!???
  15. I don't want to fuel this debate in in the wrong way, but everything about that screenshot makes me sick. As David asks, what ar those girls doing? And why on earth can't a Zune connect to Vista? Those sorts of grahics confirms to me one of the major differences between OSX and Windows - Windows needs all these bells and whistles to make it look attractive, fun, cool etc, whereas OSX does what you want it to, when you want it to ... ok, most of the time Having pictures like that appear every time I plug my iPod in would really p me off!
