Hi, Im trying to integrate an external hardware effect via Logic's I/O plug-in but I've reached a dead end... I have an Fireface UFX interface with an Octopre MK2 Dynamic connected via ADAT (both ADAT in and ADAT out are cabled between the two devices) The effect (Alesis Quadraverb) has its input (ADAT 15/16) and output (ADAT 9/10) cables going into the Octopre MK2 Dynamic. When I press a key I can see in TotalMix that there is an output signal but no input signal (screen shot attached). If I connect the effect to a stereo in and stereo out of the UFX the effect works perfectly. One thing ive noticed though, it if I turn the Quadraverb on and of I can see a signal briefly jump into the 9/10 input. I can also use synths via the Dynamic fine. Im wondering if its an ADAT issue, a problem with the I/O or the routing in TotalMix Any help would be gratefully accepted as it draining me a bit nuts. Fireface settings also attached. * I also have a Focusrite OctoPre connected to the UFX running at couple of synths: connected via ADAT and Word Clock. Ive tried unplugging this from the UFX but still have the same issue.

I was wondering what the mid/side button on the I/O plug in in Logic does. I can't see any mention of it in the manual. Thanks : )

Hi, Im having problems with the sequencer on a SEM Two Voice when used in Logic- whenever I switch tracks the sequencer starts to control the new track with the sequencer's midi. An external instrument is used for the SEM on midi channel 1. Ive tried auto demix by channel and the modifier plug in with no luck Any help would be apprecited

Thanks for the reply. Ive since bought a new interface and I'm running effects through that with no problem. Never got the bottom of the above issue though. was using unbalanced instrument cables for what its worth.

Hi Eric, Wonder i you could take a look at another I/O problem Im having. Im trying integrate a Strymon Big Sky via the I/O plug and total mix, but I can't for the life of me get it to affect the signal. I think Ive set it up exactly the same way as the other three effects Im using in the same way ( all three work perfectly). Ive not tried to integrate an effect since last time we spoke, so Im thinking Ive missing something really obvious. Ive attached three screen grabs with a note on. all I'm getting is the dry signal, no effect at all. Thanks in advance

That's got it working properly. Ive been trying to get my head around Total Mix for the last day or so, what you've just said has finally made it click. Thanks so much for your quick response and help.

Hi Im trying to use a Sherman Filterbank with the I/O plug-in in Logic but all I'm getting from the signal is a low level distortion. Ive also switched out the Filterbank for a Stymon Deco pedal and I'm getting the same problem (more silence though, with the occasional low level noise). Ive connected the input and output through a Fireface UFX and Im using unbalanced cables. Sherman I/O is Input 11 Output 3. I have two other bits of hardware connected (stereo) using the I/O and they work fine. Couple of screen shots attached. Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

thanks for that, ill check it out when i get a spare moment, which is prob the reason I've never given automap the time it deserves, as there's always something else to do what do you mean by this?

great thanks for that, the mention of automap made me think that could be the issue, and it was. for some reason automap decided to create another 'mixer' in logic's control surface setup, pointing to port 1 of my midi interface. this was also having the knock on effect of logic not recognising any of my hardware synths on start up (was having to do a rescan in midi setup for anything to work) and was even messing with my fireface total mix settings. Crazy. I hate automap as I've always had issues with it.

Im having some weird midi issues with Logic and would love to get someones opinion of what might be problem. When i switch tracks Logic sends out midi data to port 1 of my midi interface (M8UXL), even though port 1 has nothing connected to it, and causes the audio of the track I've switch from to stutter. As a test I disconnected everything from my mac except for the M8UXL's USB lead. I then created an 'external instrument' track with nothing in the arrange area. This is where is gets weird, whenever i solo the track, port 1 of the M8UXL starts flashing in a regular way. The midi out info in the transport bar also starts changing in the same way and gives out a 'x 1 0 0' reading. Im completely lost to whats going on and any help would be most welcomed.

yeah the DSI Pro 2. I think I've figured out what the issue was. The Pro 2 (coming into Logic via an External Instrument') was cabled to Port 1 on my ESI midi interface, but for some reason Logic stopped recognising these ports and chose a different synths ports for the Pro2's 'Midi Destination' in the 'External Instrument'. I switched the Pro 2 to my Fireface midi inputs and it now works fine. Although I guess the issue now is why Logic isn't recognising the ESI ports the Pro 2 was connected to. Ive tried rescanning midi in the 'Audio Midi Setup' but Port 1 still isn't showing up as an option in the 'Midi Destination' drop down in the 'External Instrument'.

When a sequence is running on the Pro 2 and I switch tracks in Logic it causes the sequence to stutter, the same behaviour is happening when i click on any object in the environment. Could anyone shed any light on why this would be happening? thanks in advance.
