  1. I just realized Paul Davids is using Ableton. I saw it in this video 10 seconds in: He keeps building what he's doing by hitting different preset triggers on the fly. I've been using Loopback to do similar stuff in my guitar lesson videos, but it's limiting compared to what he's doing. Does anyone know how to achieve this while still being able to use Logic? I have a midi keyboard but if there's a better device, I'll get it. I'm looking to be able to record a guitar track & vocal track while at the same time being able to trigger different tracks (like backing tracks to play examples over). Seeing Paul Davids, I know it's possible. I'm just not sure if that's only possible while using Ableton as a DAW. Thing is I'm definitely not gonna stop using Logic with my Apollo interface. Anyways, if anyone has any insight into this let me know Thanks.
  2. Wow, just wow! That is exactly what I was looking for. It's such a hard thing to describe I couldn't find any software like it. It's so easy to use and will really open up my videos. Thank you sooo much!
  3. Hi, I make guitar lessons on YouTube/courses and am stumped on how to play over a backing track in the middle of a lesson. The best way for me to explain it is with examples. Starting around 1:25 you can here this guy talking, then starts playing over a track. Same thing here around 8:30 I'm just stumped as to how they're pulling this off. Are they recording they're voice and guitar to another computer? I tried doing this myself and all I could come up with playing the track quietly on my laptop, which my vocal mic picks up and then syncing it in Final Cut Pro on my iMac afterwards. It works but was a pain because I had to manually do it and it was tricky to get it perfectly in time and was time consuming. Currently I record playing over tracks ahead of filming my talking points and edit them in later. Being able to do it on the fly AND talk while playing over a track would open up my videos soooo much. Anyways, if anyone has any ideas on how these guys are doing it, let me know. Thanks
  4. I use Logic Pro X on a mid 2014 Macbook Retina with a UA Apollo Twin and 8p. My problem is when I record a bunch of tracks with the 8p and then switch to the Twin (usually when I'm mixing or doing overdubs) there's a loud high pitched noise every time I start logic up. I know it's because the Twin only has 2 inputs and when I have tracks that are assigned beyond that (the 8p has 8 inputs), Logic freaks out. I have to mute my monitors and reassign all the inputs to 1 or 2 and the buzz goes away. I have used many other interfaces in the past and never had this problem. The inputs would automatically switch the 1 or 2. Does anyone know of a way so I can switch between interfaces without have to remember to mute the monitors and then manually change the inputs. I can't seem to figure it out, but it would save me a lot of time and my hearing! Thanks!
  5. I'm looking do some multitrack recording of some gigs with Logic Pro X on my Macbook Pro through a live mixer. Never attempted this before, so I have no idea how to do it. I don't have access to the mixer right now, but it's a Behringer pmp 4000 euro power 22 Channel: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/PMP4000.aspx I also have the previous version of this tascam interface which is basically the same: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/US16x08 I'm not looking to just get a stereo mix, but a full multitrack mix into Logic that I can mix later. Does anyone know if that's possible from just the Behringer or do I need to get the Tascam interface involved too? Thanks, Jeff
  6. I'm just about to order some JBL studio monitors and am clueless as to the best cables to get for them. I have 1/4" monitor outputs (balanced) on my Tascam US-1800 audio interface. The monitors will have XLR and 1/4" inputs. Is there a difference between TRS to TRS or TRS to XLR?
  7. Thanks. I'll have to see what I can do to get the JBL's and also some speaker stands. What's line calibration all about?
  8. I'm looking to get some studio monitors (have been using Bose bookshelf speakers, I know, it's aweful!) and have no idea what to get. My budget right now is $300 or ideally less. The only thing I know is that I'm looking to get active monitors. Should I avoid used? How about these new JBL's? http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LSR305 Are these M-Audio decent enough? http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AV40
  9. How do I record the main mix out a mixer? I tried to the other night and couldn't figure it out. It was just a basic 8 track live mixer. I tried running a 1/4 instrument cable into my audio interface coming out of the mixers headphone output and control room. Both which had single outputs. I didn't have time to try other things, but neither worked. Do I need to use a speaker cable? Or do I need to 2 cables coming out of one of the stereo outputs?
  10. Thanks. That does the trick even if I have all those other plugins on.
  11. I just tried taking off all the plugins I had on the output (modern rock preset, so about 6 plugins) and the latency went away. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, but at least now I've realized plugins can cause it. Probably a no brainer for you pros!
  12. I bought a Tascam audio interface recently ( http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/US1800 ), which has been great except that lately it will occasionally have some bad latency. When I plug it in to Logic it will ask if I want to use the Tascam and it will be labeled (Bit Accurate). Lately it doesn't always ask, so I've manually done it under the audio preferences. There's also an option that says (Core Audio). I've tried both of them, but there's a delay with the monitoring with each. It says there's a 13.3ms latency
  13. Just ordered it. Hopefully this will take care of the problem. Thanks for the help.
