  1. Hi J, thanks so much for your reply. Really appreciate it. I spent all afternoon messing around with it, and funnily enough I JUST figured it out by accident. I am attaching a PDF to show the before and after to display the issue since it might be interesting to anyone else with this issue.. Not sure if this is a "bug" per se, but it made no sense seeing the error if the output was disabled. Thanks again, Cheers, Marcus
  2. Merry Christmas Everyone! I have a weird issue with some older sessions that have plugins I don't use anymore. On opening, I get the prompt that a plugin can't be found on the system. The thing is, the plugin in question is not on any of the channel strips in the session, at least not in any of the ones visible in the mixer or the environment. It's almost like the plugin is on a previously deleted, or reassigned channel strip or instrument. Is there a way to make all channel settings visible, even the ones not assigned to any active ones in the session? Any help is appreciated 🙂
  3. >> this happens for all projects, I already tried. seems to be a new behavior in 10.7.8 or so. Darn that sucks! I left a bug report with Apple. Will have to look into making monitoring only duplicates of everything before routing them to stems I suppose. Thanks again for checking this.
  4. >>Quite an understatement 🙂 had to note that down myself to understand it: Alchemy -> Bus 1 -> Bus 105 (via Send for whatever reason) -> Bus 126 (again via Send) -> Bus 129 -> Bus 130 -> Bus 254 -> Bus 132 (and 131 via Send) -> Stereo Out HAHA! Yup, it's kinda like top-down mixing: WW/BR/STR/PERC Instrument -> Submix Stem (Film stem, or naked stem without reverb for mixing engineer) + Reverb -> WWs (TV stems with Reverb mixed in, for when less delivery stems are requested) -> Orchestra subgroup stem (for striped recording or when orchestrators need orchestra parts without Synth mixed in) -> SUM for mastering and printing of stereo demo -> stereo out. The bus send option doesn't seem to make a difference though. In my first version I did the same thing by routing the bus through the output >> Ah! Found it! The issue is the number of simultaneously Input-Monitoring enabled tracks. Seems like Logic cannot input monitor more than 31 audio tracks and have a software instrument track in live mode for whatever reason (this might be a bug so I recommend to report it to Apple). WOW! That's amazing that you were able to pin it down to that. It is a bit surprising though. In my last template on my Intel Mac and LPX 10.7 I was able to have 94 tracks in input monitoring with a similar layout and no such problem... Can anyone confirm this happening on your system as well, or is this a corrupted file? My plan is to start another template from scratch and see if I run into the same problem again.
  5. Thanks for your engagement >> In your Environment's Physical Input object, what is Logic Pro Virtual? This was created automatically by Logic. >> I watched the video, I wish we could see your inspector, but in the inspector it doesn't look like there's an instrument routed to Stereo Out or a bus ...? The stems are connected to sub-mix stems, but arrive in the main SUM, and eventually Stereo OUT The issue still occurs, even if the instrument track is routed directly to the Stereo OUT. >> Does the Roland have a device driver or is it class compliant? If its the former is it updated for Ventura? The Roland is connected to a mio MIDI box which is up to date. >> Can you post an example project in which this happens? Or at least not crop the video so that all interesting information is invisible 😉? Yes. Here is the Dropbox link to the project: https://www.dropbox.com/t/5E1rqsdUaLBSffqY The Alchemy instrument is routed to Stereo Out. I can't hear anything when I play UNLESS I erase some AUDIO tracks up top. (STEM TRACKS 1-15)
  6. THanks for your reply. >>Make sure that MIDI Channel and port correspond between your keyboard and your plugin. They do >>Could you specify which virtual instrument is causing issue? Any VI (Logic's Synths, Kontakt etc.) >>If that is a 3rd party plugin, did you register it with the vendor since you are using it in your new Mac? All registered and working. The issue is hard to explain, so here is a DropBox link to a screen recording I made: https://www.dropbox.com/t/NLLqCnO3MGSAXKlA
  7. Just got a new M2 Mac Pro (Ventura) with the latest version of LPX and I am setting up my new template. Logic is receiving MIDI via my Roland keyboard, all fine and dandy. And out of nowhere virtual instruments don't receive MIDI anymore. I can see and confirm that MIDI is coming into LPX (Transport shows incoming MIDI as expected), and I can still record/performance-capture just fine, and playback of the recorded/captured regions also work as expected, but direct MIDI input via keyboard is met with silence. I tried backtracking to find a bug, or wrong routing/setting. I ended up erasing a bunch of random tracks and folders and that solved it twice now... until it happened again. Saved files are just corrupted to the point where I just had to start over. Any help would be appreciated
  8. Thanks for your response. I also reached out to Inertia Sound Systems to get their take on it. It might be a plugin specific compatibility issue. If you move the first automation point to another location, can you check that Logic effectively spikes the cores and throws the MIDI Sync error at the new first automation point location? Yes, this happens. No matter where I move the first data point, as soon as the playhead passes over it, the CPU meter goes haywire and spikes a few cores, resulting in a Midi Sync error. If you create a new track, insert the same plug-in and create automation on that new track, can you reproduce the same issue? Yes, this happens no matter where the plug resides. I also put it on an instrument track, bus, aux... no difference. If you create a new Logic project, only one track, can you reproduce the same issue? I did that for Inertia to show the error. I also recorded a video showing the problem in action. which I'd be happy to dm you if you're interested.
  9. I couldn't find a post covering this, so here goes nothing: I'm on LP 10.6.3 on Catalina. I use the distortion plugin INSTINCT from Inertia Sound Systems in which I automate the GAIN knob. It's on an audio track and I put it in TOUCH mode to write automation. All fine and dandy. However, once I playback the session and Logic encounters the first data point of the written automation it immediately spikes 2 cores, throws a MIDI sync error at me, and pretty much goes into a crackly death spiral. I doubt it's a CPU issue, since my current "workaround" is to basically mimic the disabled automation curve live while recording audio, and the CPU meter stays low and barely moves at all. It's only once the automation exists as data points and Logic plays through them it throws a tantrum Has anyone had this issue?
  10. I have a question regarding OSC controller assignments and the associated device. I run into an issue where every now and then when I open Logic, my iPad is not recognized any more and has to be re-scanned and added as a new device again. Unfortunately OSC messages don't seem to work unless I delete the previous device in the list - which in my case is the exact same iPad, but with an (!) in the corner... Here is the sticky wicket: By deleting said device, all the controller assignments are then deleted along with it. When I revert to the previous .cs file which has the controller assignments in it, the device it was associated with appears again when I open Logic the next time, hence the newly added device does not work again... I feel like I am playing 'catch 22' here and was wondering if anyone knew of a method to create a .plist file with one's OSC specific controller assignments that then could be scanned and added as a new control surface from within the controller surface setup. I have seen custom .plist files for other surfaces, but no way or tutorial on how to package that for your device. Any help or tip would be greatly appreciated. Best, Mcs
  11. When copying an object by holding option, upon releasing the mouse button, the copied object is being placed a number of beats/bars to the right of where the object is being placed. Is there a setting I am missing, or a key binding that usually does this sorta thing? Or could it be a bug? This only occurred as of v.10.3 Any input is appreciated.
