  1. I have a Fostex VM200 digital mixer going (in and out) into logic via the midi ports on my usb interface. Using the learn mode in the expert view (which is a laughable name considering the user here ) of control surface assignments window, I have gotten to the point of being able to get the faders on the fostex to send data to the faders in logic, but when i move the faders in logic the motorized fostex faders sit still. I have attempted to install a mackie control mixer into my controller surfaces setup, and then just remapping the input value and touch/release value, which has only gotten me as far as the "out" light on my interface turning on, which i couldn't get it to do before, but still no physical hardware movement. I admit i'm pretty baffled at how the input value and touch/release values work, as well as if setting a touch/release value is completely necessary. Any advice? thanks!!
  2. Awesome, triplets! as it happens, today i worked with only lpx open, no other windows and it still got sluggish extremely fast and stayed there persistently, i've also reset the pram multiple times. not say though that that's not the problem. i looked in my console and that specific message occurs often. so it's definitely a thing. I will try the safe boot and permission repair. I havent done that in a good while. thank ye sir!
  3. Thank Atlas! my most recent upgrade was RAM so I wasn't really considering, also apple says my machine can't take more than 8gb of RAM. however I read somewhere in an end-user document for my machine that regardless of what apple says, the machine will take 16gb of RAM. however I would imagine that would end up making things harder elsewhere in the components; or it wouldn't flow well with the res of the machine. So i'm on the fence about upgrading RAM. it probably won't happen before I get an new HD though haha
  4. In project settings I've seen that there's supposed to be a check box marked "scrubbing with audio in tracks" i added an image i found on google of where it's supposed to be. Apparently its there so you can hear audio when scrubbing and not just midi. any who mine aint there (the second image is what shows up in my project settings, where the box is missing). I've opened past projects and new projects and it's not where its supposed to be. Any ideas why?
  5. Hi all. I have a MacBook Pro 15 with a 2.2ghz intel core i7 and 8gb of ddr3 1333mhz ram. I'm running logic on a 1tb internal spinny hard drive. All my projects keep the audio I record in project files on the same 1tb drive. Also all my plugins, samples, loops, and all other sounds are on the internal spinny drive. I only have the one drive internally and it's all running from there. If I were to install an ssd in the place where the super drive is would I experience a decent performance increase and with what configuration as far as file placement goes? And also would I experience another significant performance increase in logic If I swapped out the spinny drive with an ssd as well? Or would a single ssd in the place of the super drive in conjunction with the spinny drive give me the only significant performance increase I need. Orrrrrr what do you guys think. I get sluggish performance at odd frequent times. Often with the exs24 sampler editor. I can also barely handle 48khz projects with more than like 10 audio tracks and one or two software instruments. At 44.1 kHz I get bogged down the longer I work in a Project. Logics often crashes when I'm creating patches in succession, and the most consistent overload creator is from flex pitch on more than one tracks. As well, Is it possible my processor is to blame? I just feel I'm not getting the performance overall that seems normal and don't think I can consider getting a new machine with a new processor any time soon, but I can however consider hard drive options.
  6. I've never needed it in any project, but i've played with it before, and wouldn't doubt i've played with it on projects that the issue happened on as well. maybe its just behavior coming from a hard working cpu.
  7. Absolutely no recreations. i suppose it was a gremlin. i'll pay much closer attention if it ever shows up again
  8. well i haven't been able to recreate the problem again in the past week but i specifically remember the volume fader not moving but i can't speak to the meter changing. i'll give recreating it another crack and see if i can confirm or deny. Thanks David
  9. This is odd but kinda cool for the past year I can recall several times noticing that my mixes randomly and been ruined by an odd instance of a single track being MUCH louder than i remember mixing, and for no definable reason. This would happen on and off and I would always manage to be too into the creative process that I was just trying to make it all work, and I never got to the bottom of what was happening. Well I did end ups lowing down this last time it happened to notice that it seemed like some sort of odd AUDIBLE track zoom sort of feature. Does anyone know about this being a thing? All that it does is when I have a track selected, or a track stack, the audio from the focused track/tracks is considerably louder than the rest of the project. It seems to have stopped about a week ago, but I've been trying to google what it was that caused that phenomenon because as I've been thinking about it, and had it in my consciousness I've noticed times where i had wished I could turn it on and use it as a feature, rather than a gremlin. Any clues as to how to uncover this mystery? Thanks folks. Y'all are ace.
  10. I am making a new gui for my exs24 II and i would like to change the font of things like the instrument selection (see picture attached) and also the sliders found in the router section of the plugin (picture attached as well). i have perused the maresourcesmapping.plist and the loose files in the exs24 resources folder and also similar resource folders to no avail. i cannot find how to alter that font or the sliders. Any ideas on their location?
  11. Yeah two or three software tracks. If i need to edit smallish portions of audio It's doable but I find it's a huge workflow killer to have to stop as frequently as I when using software instruments.
  12. oops, i just realized in my initial post I gave the impression that I had a 600gb hard drive. I apologize, It's 1 TB and I have over 600gb available
