  1. @NewLogic: thanks for the crit !... getting the low end to sit right was a challenge. I had used harmonic saturation in the 50hz(kick) and the 80hz( bass) to thicken it. there were only 2 guitar tracks... both were panned extreme left and right...but i guess my eq choices, could have made it seem further apart. @Logiquement : thanks brother for the kind words..
  2. Thanks for checking it out !!. I agree ,with the mud part!... balancing the mids with the low end, was a challenge . What is your opinion of the low end..? is it 'tight' ? Feel free to check out my soundcloud page, for music in this genre !! dinesh
  3. Happy new year !! This is a song, i just finished mixing. The guitars were played by me, while the bass and drums were programmed. Guitars were double tracked, DI. Then ReAmped through the AxeFx. would love to get your feedback on the mix! dinesh
  4. Hi Eric...long time !! Thanks for the reply. I however get a grey screen with a circle and a line across it. The OS in my MacAir is Sierra, while that on my external drive is OS Mavericks Is that the reason? is there a workaround for this? The MacAir recognises the drive ,as it is seen in the finder. dinesh
  5. Friends, Seasons greetings ! Hope all is well. A couple of weeks back, i had posted about how my MacPro (5,1) was damaged in lightening and the motherboard is now being repaired. I have since removed the ssd as well as the hdd of the MacPro 5,1 ..and they are now with me now. I intend to use the ssd/hdd (via an external usb3 cable) as an external hard-drive. The external ssd' have all my application program' like Logic Pro, and VMWare. Most importantly, i have a lot of third party plugins which require ilok activation. My query is this: a) how do i launch logic pro from the external ssd.? the thing is ,when i launch it from the external ssd... it launch' the logic pro which has been installed on the mac -air. I do not have access to any of my third party plugins, nor access to any of the MIDI software...(though i can see the files on my external hard drive) b) i intend to use the external hard drive as a drive for all my 'non-essential' applications (logic pro, final cut pro etc)..thus freeing up disc space on my mac-air...how do i go about doing that... meaning how do i get the mac-air to recognise the application folder of my external ssd and use that, instead of the mac-air' default folder? ( i am aware that the au/vst plugins are all stored in the library folder) could the members of this forum, share they're experiences? thanks and regards dinesh
  6. Thomas, Thanks for your reply. As i had mentioned earlier, the i7 Imac is not available in India does anyone have any experience with the i5 Imac? dinesh
  7. Friends, Hope all is well. A few weeks back, following heavy thunderstorms and lightening, the motherboard of my Mac Pro 5,1, got fried, and the good folks over at Apple tell me that it is beyond repair. Now i am on the look out for a Mac that can replace it. The QuadCore i7 Imac, is unfortunately not available in India. Which of the Quad core i5' would be the best option for me? Or should i purchase a refurbished quad core MacPro 6,1 ? I intend to use the hard-drive of my MacPro 5,1 as an external hard-drive connected via usb3.0 ( i have around 1TB of samples) I am primarily a solo musician , who mixes and produces by own music...however i use a lot of samples (Superior Drummer, Trillian, along with many third party samples) I also do a lot of sound-design stuff. I also use plugins that require Ilok...lots of them. On an average, i have around 30-45 tracks... on the sound design stuff..it can reach upto 80-90 tracks of midi instruments and loops. would be obliged,if you guys could share your experiences. dinesh dinesh
  8. Thanks friends for the kind words! The guitar tracks were re-amped without a noise gate... which resulted in a lot of hiss ( which was not evident on the DI') i used strip silence to truncate the unwanted noise, but it cut away some of the tail end of the notes ! I did not have the time to re-do it again, as i had set myself a deadline !! dinesh
  9. Triplets: It is still under negotiation. will definitely let the forum know, before i pull the trigger. The definite advantage is the thunderbolt and and the fact that i am future proofing myself. but i am wary of shifting to LogicProX and the new MacOS. dinesh
  10. Triplets: I intend to opt for the base model, which has 16 gb of ram and 256 GB of HD... i'm aware that i'll have to up the storage capacity Do you think that an upgrade is warranted? dinesh
  11. Friends, Hope all is well. The local Apple store in my area has an exchange offer, where in they will take my MacPro5,1 and give me a MacPro6,1 in exchange.( with some cash from my end) I currently use Apogee ONE as my interface, and though its performance is stellar, Reamping and DI via my LittleLabs REdEyE is a pain. I am currently on the look out for an interface, and since firewire is on the decline, i think that thunderbolt is the way to go.( i also intend to purchase monitors later this year) I am primarily a solo act, who composes music at home and as such i do not need multiple ins and outs. With that in mind, should i make the switch? I have a PCIe SSD installed on my MacPro 5,1... dinesh
  12. Friends, This is a song, i've composed. the guitars have been played by me, while the drums, bass and synths are programmed. I'd love to hear your thoughts. dinesh
  13. Friends I solved it !!.. My output of the DI track was going to the stereo out...i changed it to mono output...and it worked !! however the reamped track , i placed it in a 'stereo' track with its output to the stereo out. thanks !!
  14. Friends, I recently purchased a LittleLabs RedEye 3D reamp box. I recorded my guitar DI...and after editing , i tried to re-amp it. However, logic keeps giving inconsistent results...at times it reamps it correctly... sometimes nothing...all i hear is a weak and feeble re-amped tone I have found that if i toggle the mono to stereo button , while it is reamping..it causes this swtich to occur. Then i have to quit Logic, restart the session...and then everything is back to normal. If i copy the DI' to another session...again..i keep getting inconsistent results I record at 48Khz I use an Apogee One interface, with an AxeFx standard. for recording DI'..i have no issues...however, reamping is the issue. For ReAmping, i have set the output of the Apogee into the reamp box > into AxeFx > into Apogee one instrument intput. any help would be appreciated !! dinesh
