  1. Hello, I recently bought an Expressive Touche SE - for those who don't know what that is, it's a device that helps automate data in realtime (such as cutoff, reverb, LFO etc) whilst playing the keyboard / a midi controller. Here is an example on YouTube: Now - I bought this for many reasons, but one of the main ones being that it's super handy in automating expression and dynamics on Kontakt String Libraries. Of course, this isn't a problem, as when one hand plays a melodical line, the other automates it live (on the Expressive Touche SE) and it works like a charm! However! It's impossible for me to play string parts that require two hands and have a third hand that automates the data in real time! So my question: Is there a way where I can record a string part with no automation but rerecord the automation data separately using the Expressive Touche SE? Please note that the automation data is recorded under piano roll rather than as actual automation. If you are still a bit confused: 1) I have a string instrument track - all chords but 0 piano roll automation. 2) During playback I am able to achieve piano roll automation (i.e expression / dynamics etc) by playing around with the Expressive Touche SE - however this automation isn't recorded. It's just heard during playback. 4) So how do i store the recorded (piano roll) automation data without overwriting the string part? 5) Is there a way I can record piano roll automation onto an already existing track without deleting its data? I hope that clarifies things up a bit. Thanks in advance!
  2. Hi, I got Monarch Audio to master my track, but I'm having doubts about the quality of the mastering. However, I'm no expert and would like an outside opinion. Maybe I'm wrong. Can anyone download the two versions of the mastered song and give their verdict? In the zip file you will find 2 mastered versions to choose from. Final Master 1 has maximum commercial loudness possible. Final Master 2 has less compression and more dynamics. Link: https://we.tl/ThNy9ahk8I Many thanks, Charlie

  4. So I just started 'remixing' a new song, but I applied a drop from another song to it and it works really well. Can I call that my remix? I've changed everything to the song apart from the vocals, and the drop. Many thanks
  5. I think it works. Maybe reduce the room size a little bit? Having said that I think it works well in the style. Hope I helped x
  6. Hi guys, Im currently 18 and just released my first remix. I have been working on a lot at the same time so there will be more from me in the future. Check it out and tell me what you think. Style: EDM / Dance / Progressive House https://www.spinninrecords.com/talentpool/track/85210-nekro-reload-sebastian-ingrosso-tommy-trash-john-martin-nekro-remix/ Enjoy Thanks <3 <3 <3
  7. Hi, I am currently 18 years old, and looking for a full-time job during my gap year, before I go to university. However, rather than wasting my year working for places like McDonalds or Retail, I was hoping to look for jobs that will aid my future career more. Let me quickly tell you a bit about myself. I live in the UK, so I don't know the American equivalents, but I have just finished my A-levels in Music and Music Tech. I have produced a lot of remixes, edits, and mashups, as well as recorded a load of audio (songs) throughout my past four years - so it is clear that I'm not new to the industry (such as I'm very experienced with mixing desks or using DAWS etc..). Now my question: I want to look for job contacts, preferably in the EDM music sector. I was thinking maybe looking for a Job in a recording studio and starting off there, but what would you suggest? What Job should I apply for? Remember, I don't really have the main qualification as I don't exactly have a degree yet, but I want to start working in the industry ASAP, even if its being a studios 'bitch' e.g. go make the coffee, make sure the cables are plugged in etc... Is working in the studio even the best thing for me, since I want to be a EDM artist? Anyway post your thoughts and I shall get back to every single one individually. Thank you so much
  8. So, for my music tech coursework, I have to remake the 'Monument - Royksopp' Baseline, and I have three main questions about it. Question number uno: 1) The Baseline alternates between 2 octaves. So the pattern roughly looks like this: _____--- _______--- __---___ Just before the baseline goes back down from the note on the higher octave , it sounds like a glide effect or something. I don't really know what it is. Can anyone help me identify whats going on here, and how to replicate that effect? 2) The baseline notes also vary in length, sometimes they gradually get longer, sometimes they gradually get shorter. I tried playing with the sustain in the synth but that isn't working out. Also individually extending note lengths will be long and tedious. Is there a fast way to do this? 3) You don't have to answer this if you don't know this, but any suggestions on a specific bass sound that sounds like this? I have something similar but not exact, and quite frankly, I'm a perfectionist Thank you so much for your help.
  9. Yes i tried that, but the audio quality gets drastically reduced before any difference can be heard from the format shift. Thats why maybe theres a dedicated plug-in for this?
  10. Hmmmm that would be a big problem... Ive tried Logic pro's format shift, but the quality is very crap. Could anyone recommend a good format shift plug in (if it exists)?
  11. So I'm trying to remix Hardwells: Dare You. Now, the acapella sounds slightly deeper than the original (perhaps more manly?) Anyway, heres the link to the acapella: https://demodrop.com/s4nti/dare-you And the original: They sound different, don't they? Any ideas? Ive tried putting the pitch up slightly but it still sounds different. My guess would be format shift. Any Ideas? Thanks
  12. Ok, firstly A MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who tried to help me, for your time and efforts. I really appreciate it. Eric, i unchecked the Open library box when creating tracks, and now tracks come blank, which is exactly what i wanted, thank you. However that EQ issue was very weird, but its no biggie any more. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE <3
  13. 1) No. 2) Yes. 3) Yes. I think it might be something in Sylenth1 that prevents the velocity from changing. Like you two have said^. But how can i make the Sylenth1 patch react to velocity? Thnx <3
  14. I use the quick command to create audio/software tracks, that is alt+cmd+a/s. I use the older Logic pro because i like the compressor it has on it, simple layout and easy to use. I don't think that the other Channel EQ in my routing should have anything to do when i turn on the Chanel EQ on the track, from what I've ever noticed, that hasn't been the problem.
