  1. So was avoiding the MIDI sequence bottleneck to let people assign MIDI inputs to tracks directly, and yet, we got it... eventually. It took 25 years though. Don't stop believing! 👍 😉
  2. Ok thanks, just wanted to check I wasn’t missing something… 🙂
  3. Are you saying that when you control the rate in this way, you get a smooth variation in tempo, rather than just switching between the rate options in a stepped way? (ie, adjusting the *tempo*, not the step values fixed to the current tempo).
  4. RMS is a way of measuring your average volume. To raise your average volume, you can turn the volume of your entire signal up (the average will go up, and so will the peak levels), or you can compress your signal so that the peaks (the loud bits) are turned down, reducing the dynamic range of the audio, and you can then turn the signal up by how much it was compressed by (this is called "make-up gain"), and now your average loudness is higher, with the peaks being the same as they were before. If you're not familiar with how compressors work and how to use them, there is loads of material online, or YouTube etc, that explains it in more engaging ways that typing it out here. Logic has a good compressor as part of it's plugin collection you can use.
  5. That's interesting this worked - as I mentioned above, I tried looking for the actual Alchemy preset content db thinking the issue was more likely to be there, because it's *not* the ratings and tags db, which literally does only store user ratings and tags, and I didn't think that would have an affect on preset searching functionality. I guess if that file is corrupt perhaps, then there is potential for causing weird behaviour. Or maybe a reset of that triggers Alchemy to do some kind of cleanup or re-initialisation, which could have fixed the problem. Out of interest I had a poke around in the ratings/tags db, and it's not that interesting, and does not store the actual preset listings as I figured. Trashing the DB file is fine BTW, you'll just lose your favourites & ratings etc, Alchemy will create a new fresh one if one isn't found. It doesn't affect the preset content. Anyway - glad you're sorted now, and one more weird fix for a weird problem noted somewhere in the dark recesses of my brain that holds on to weird Logic quirks... 😉
  6. Yep we know - the OP's problem is exactly that this expected behaviour is *not* happening for them, although it does for me. Typing "alien" is *not* bring up patches with alien in the name:- That's what we're trying to figure out.
  7. Welcome to LPH! Off the top of my head, I don't think so, because the Sequencer as a mod source doesn't have any variable rate or tempo control that you can modulate to gradually speed it up or down. The rate it runs at is a list of defined intervals, and that's based largely on your global sync/tempo setting, and you can't set that control it as a mod destination anyway...
  8. It's not released yet. Until then, anyone here that *has* access to it will be under legal obligations to not discuss it. We all have to wait until the 13th... Patience! 🙂 You won't need to reinstall your plugins, though, no different to any other Logic update.
  9. Sure - if you click on one of the category headings, a menu lets you choose different things for that heading, and "User Tags" is one of the options.
  10. "Stop hoarding your broken old tat, and get one of *these* instead!" 😉 I dunno, I can't say I was reading much into it, it's just a "please buy this" ad, the philisophical content, if it was meant to be there, was lost on me... (to be fair, during the event, I just learned that LP11 had dropped, so I was a bit flustered... 😂)
  11. I saw it in the event - what’s the problem with it? Don’t Apple make a lot of their stuff out of recycled materials now? I thought it was a nod to that, smooshing a bunch of old stuff to make iPads…
  12. Yes, to run Mac software, you need a Mac. Similarly, to run Windows software, you need a PC. Macs can be had (new) from about £650, PC's can be had for a bit cheaper (new), or you can go secondhand of course. The prices can go up a lot depending on the machine specs you want. Either way, these days you get a lot of power for not a huge amount of money, you don't need spend two grand or more to get in at the ground level, regardless of the platform you choose. And you're right, some people cannot afford to buy any computer at all, so a DAW probably isn't for *everybody* if we're going to be literal about it.
  13. Also, if you're on an Apple silicon Mac and using the age-old "increase the buffer size" thing, you'll need to relearn that behaviour. Put the buffer sizes down, Apple silicon is more efficient at lower buffer sizes.
  14. Great, glad you've got a better experience now!
