  1. I know, but Logic differs to other DAWs in that tracks do not have a 1:1 relationship with a mixer channel, and you can reassign them and so on. There are some complexities that other DAWs don't have to deal with - they are simpler in this manner. I'm less day-to-day familiar with PT - are the mixer channels completely independent of the main tracks area in PT? Ok, so for you, you'd be happy to have the mixer continue the reflect the track layout, just that you can reorder track tracks by dragging mixer channel strips, rather than having them independent of the tracks area? I'm just curious as to who wants a mixer layout completely independent from the track area, versus who would feel just the ability to reorder from the mixer area is good enough...
  2. Very few DAWs do, because MIDI clock just isn't solid enough, or high resolution enough in terms of timing to run audio sample rate off it. They tried it in the past to freewheel across the timing differences, but it's just too wonky to slave all your audio to MIDI clock, which varies in timing due to the activity on the MIDI port. Let Logic be the clock master and output MIDi clock to any devices you want to sync.
  3. Try searching instead for "silence" in the key commands window, as the word "strip" does not appear (the function was renamed a while back). It's also in the menus in the track editor.
  4. I know how it works now, perhaps you misunderstood my question: I'm asking for the people who want to be able to rearrange in the mixer, whether these options would be OK or preferable for them.
  5. Check the status of the setting:- Logic -> Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Open Plugins in Controls View by default
  6. While on the face of it it seems like a simple feature, it's actually a bit more problematic to implement than you might think, due to the current nature of tracks and the track mixer. Out of interest, for the people who really want this feature, how would you feel if you *could* move the channel strips around in the track mixer, but when doing so, what also happened is the tracks got similarly moved in the main tracks area as well, to match the new layout? (Also automatically creating new tracks for channel strips that don't have them if necessary). Would that be good enough? Or would you want a new "Custom" mode that's completely divorced from the track layout, and just lets you move around channels independently, with no connection at all to the track layout?
  7. Let's hope it's more than just: Library Browser - Changed the icon to open the Library Browser ... in the update notes... 😉
  8. Remember, by default, due to the nature of these emulations Logic's CPU meters won't indicate the correct amount of processing those plugins are using. If you want to see the correct usage, select a buffer of "0" in the plugin (not the default "1"), and you'll see the CPU meters go way up...
  9. So was avoiding the MIDI sequence bottleneck to let people assign MIDI inputs to tracks directly, and yet, we got it... eventually. It took 25 years though. Don't stop believing! 👍 😉
  10. Ok thanks, just wanted to check I wasn’t missing something… 🙂
  11. Are you saying that when you control the rate in this way, you get a smooth variation in tempo, rather than just switching between the rate options in a stepped way? (ie, adjusting the *tempo*, not the step values fixed to the current tempo).
  12. RMS is a way of measuring your average volume. To raise your average volume, you can turn the volume of your entire signal up (the average will go up, and so will the peak levels), or you can compress your signal so that the peaks (the loud bits) are turned down, reducing the dynamic range of the audio, and you can then turn the signal up by how much it was compressed by (this is called "make-up gain"), and now your average loudness is higher, with the peaks being the same as they were before. If you're not familiar with how compressors work and how to use them, there is loads of material online, or YouTube etc, that explains it in more engaging ways that typing it out here. Logic has a good compressor as part of it's plugin collection you can use.
  13. That's interesting this worked - as I mentioned above, I tried looking for the actual Alchemy preset content db thinking the issue was more likely to be there, because it's *not* the ratings and tags db, which literally does only store user ratings and tags, and I didn't think that would have an affect on preset searching functionality. I guess if that file is corrupt perhaps, then there is potential for causing weird behaviour. Or maybe a reset of that triggers Alchemy to do some kind of cleanup or re-initialisation, which could have fixed the problem. Out of interest I had a poke around in the ratings/tags db, and it's not that interesting, and does not store the actual preset listings as I figured. Trashing the DB file is fine BTW, you'll just lose your favourites & ratings etc, Alchemy will create a new fresh one if one isn't found. It doesn't affect the preset content. Anyway - glad you're sorted now, and one more weird fix for a weird problem noted somewhere in the dark recesses of my brain that holds on to weird Logic quirks... 😉
  14. Yep we know - the OP's problem is exactly that this expected behaviour is *not* happening for them, although it does for me. Typing "alien" is *not* bring up patches with alien in the name:- That's what we're trying to figure out.
  15. Welcome to LPH! Off the top of my head, I don't think so, because the Sequencer as a mod source doesn't have any variable rate or tempo control that you can modulate to gradually speed it up or down. The rate it runs at is a list of defined intervals, and that's based largely on your global sync/tempo setting, and you can't set that control it as a mod destination anyway...
