  1. I understand now. The reason I didn’t see a waveform in the area before 1 1 1 1 is because what I had trimmed was basically silence. You are an excellent teacher David. Thanks again for your help and patience.
  2. Got it. Thank you for helping me understand this. It seems odd that the Audio File Editor would display the area before 1 1 1 1 and not display the waveform in that area. If it did it would be obvious why it was there. Anyway, mystery solved. Thanks again!
  3. Yes, I did trim it. Beginning and ending. I think I see where you are going here. When I trimmed the beginning of the region and moved it back to 1 1 1 1 the Audio File Editor still sees the trimmed portion as audio material that has been moved into the timeline prior to 1 1 1 1. Is that it?
  4. When you trim an audio region in the Tracks area, you're just telling Logic which portion of an audio file you want that region to point to. Ok. But what I don't understand is how I could have audio material before 1 1 1 1 when I import an audio file at that starting position. BTW, I recently received your latest Logic book, Logic Pro X 10.4. Can't wait to dig in!
  5. The Tracks area shows you regions, not audio files. By looking at your Tracks area, there's no way to tell wether or not some or all of the audio regions have audio material before their region start. That's why you have to look in the Project File Browser or the Audio File editor. Thanks David. Any idea how something like this would occur? All I did was import some wave files, trim them and bounce them out.
  6. I’ll probably just let it go, but I’m curious about it as part of my learning process. Unfortunately I’m the type of person that is annoyed when I don’t understand something, even if it doesn’t really matter to the task at hand. Thanks again Erik for chipping in with suggestions.
  7. Just to be clear, I made the recordings using Logic's Impulse Response Utility, which to me seems like a separate app. It's pretty basic, there aren't many configuration options. I launch it independently of Logic. Impulse Response Utility exports a Space Designer file which I converted to WAV format and imported into Logic for editing. There were no plug-ins involved. What is strange is that I did a test project in preparation using (as best as I can recall) the exact same method and the audio files do not display "negative space" in the Audio File Editor.
  8. Using the Audio File Editor I measured in samples because I couldn't find a way to measure in milliseconds. I measured 1359 samples which (if I am doing the math correctly) translates to 28.3125 ms at 48kHz. Recording Delay is set to zero samples in my audio preferences. I've never adjusted that setting. I have another project with a track that has more than 3 seconds of apparent "audio material in the negative space". This isn't really causing me any problems but I am curious to know what's going on here. Thanks Erik.
  9. That's the proof that you have audio material before the beginning of the region, hence the Audio File editor is showing you that in what you're calling "negative space". If the audio region had no material before its beginning then you wouldn't be able to drag to the left at all. If there is audio material in the "negative space" why can't I see it in the tracks area? This is what I see: All of the regions appear to begin at 1 1 1 1. Thank you for all your help David. It is much appreciated.
  10. Don't mind at all! I'm new at this and I found it difficult to get good information on how this is properly done. It was a lot of guesswork. Your tips were quite valuable. Thanks again!
  11. When I click hold the blue region marker and drag to the left it expands the region into what I've been calling the "negative space", the area before 1 1 1 1. The audio itself does not move. When I drag to the right it shrinks the region. Again, the audio remains in place.
  12. I trimmed these IRs up a bit as Sascha suggested. New versions are here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/274l9ycvxjct5st/AACdjL-0XTpZ3rUjzYDXiT04a?dl=0
  13. I have no idea. Is there or not? I don’t see any or have any reason to believe there is audio material before 1 1 1 1. Maybe it’s a bug?
  14. Well, there is no count-in when recording with Impulse Response Utility. Why would there be audio material before 1 1 1 1? That was the position where I imported the file. I have another project that I used as a test for my IR project. The files were recorded with Impulse Response Utility and imported in the same way. They do not display negative space when I view them in the Audio File Editor.
