  1. preferences/general tab under parameter values: change from "reset to saved value" to "keep current value" That should fix it
  2. Have you added a patch? What you'll likely want to do is add the audio channel strip at the concert level so it will show up in all the patches you add. No sound will come out when you have "concert level" selected (top of the patch list on left). Now add a new patch and your channel strip will appear. From here you can add your affects and have a different set of effects for each patch. So assuming you have a patch added and the above is not your problem, go to the task bar and click MainStage 3/preferences. From here click the audio tab and in the audio output list select your audio interface (or built in output if that's what you prefer to use).
  3. If the devices used dont draw bus power from the USB port, or if the summed current draw of all devices doesn't exceed the USB port's output rating then there is no good reason to randomly apply external power to it. It may be worth buying one capable of external power for future expansion but unless the extra power is needed the hub can remain unpowered. Adding external power to it only clutters the keyboard rig with extra wires that serve no real purpose. It's like using a fire hose to fill a glass of water when the kitchen tap is more than adequate for the job. Retailers can make recommendations, but It doesn't change basic electrical theory.
  4. You likely solved your problem but just to add one more thing, there is an option in the layout screen of MainStage to handle midi passthrough options. If you set this to "DO not pass through" your midi messages should go to MainStage and not back out again.
  5. I've had 2 keyboards, audio interface and iPad all running off one hub. Works perfectly! You don't need a powered hub unless your keyboards get their power via the usb cable. Even then, check the current draw per keyboard, most usb computer ports can power up to 500mA.
  6. "midipipe" mac application should solve this problem for you after a bit of playing around. With midi pipe you can route or block midi signals any way you want. It acts as a midi hub that can be placed before and after MainStage. Create a virtual output midi pipe for each of your keyboards and this will be the midi inputs you assign to your MainStage ext. channel strips. If you need to send anything back out of MainStage, you can do this in the same way. i.e. instead of sending out to your keyboards, send to midipipe instead and let it handle everything else. P.S. My post likely makes no sense, but if you install midipipe and play with it for a bit come back and read this you'll know exactly what I mean
  7. I was reading an old thread on here the other day and came across someone mentioning keyboard maestro so I thought I'd give it a try. Perfect app to run with MainStage 3. So far, I have macros created that do the following: I start mainstage, midipipe activates, music io activates, MainStage is brought to the front, Alex (computer voice) says "MainStage ready," a midi message is sent to the iPad, the Onsong app displays "MainStage ready." unless.... If either the keyboard or audio interface isn't connected, a midi message is sent to the ipad and Onsong app displays either "keyboard missing" or "Mbox missing." When everything is connected properly iPad displays "MainStage ready" and Alex repeats this. Great for using a mac mini with no monitor connected. When I quit MainStage, midi pipe quits, music io quits.er the keyboard or audio interface isn't connected, There is loads more can be done, I'm just scratching the surface. I'm just in the trial period now but will defiantly be buying this when the trial expires.
  8. Syncing the appropriate logic folders to dropbox and then having the concerts saved in dropbox as well might do it for you. Try moving the folders to dropbox then create an alias. Paste the alias with the original name back to each computers logic folder. It works with an external hard drive, I can't see why it wouldn't work with dropbox. There is lots of information about copying your library to an external hard drive on this forum, so if you just use dropbox like an external hard drive it should act as such.
  9. So I solved the problem. Not in the exact way I was trying for but this one is just as effective. I have midipipe set to only send the program changes through once any key is played on the keyboard. This means I can scroll through the keyboard patches all day long and neither the iPad or MainStage will ever receive a program change message until I actually play something. As soon as any note is played both the iPad and MainStage instantly change to the proper patch with ZERO lag. Works great. If anyone has the same sort of problem and would like more detail on the process I can make a video or something.
  10. I'm looking for help with an applescript to solve the following problem: I'm using onsong for lyrics, a keyboard with a rotary wheel for selecting patches all connected to MainStage. The iPad changes the keyboard/mainstage and the keyboard changes the iPad/mainstage. All of this is routed through midipipe. Problem is, rolling through about 100 patches quickly on the keyboard freezes the iPad app onsong. I'm looking for help with writing an applescript to only pass program changes that are received for say.. 1 second, and block all other program changes. So I can scroll through the patch list but the message won't be sent out from midi pipe until the patch changing is stable for at least a second or two. This will unload stress on both the iPad app and the computer's CPU I'm pretty sure I can do this right in midi pipe with the scripter I know this will work, but I'm somewhat new at scripting and need to be pointed in the right direction with some ideas. It don't NEEEEED this to work, but I enjoy telling my computer what I want it to do instead of it telling me what it can't. I'm going to keep working on this so if I figure anything out I'll post back. I think a script like this may be helpful for other people too.
  11. Ok so I just answered my own question. There is an app available on the App Store for iPad/iPhone that will auto connect the network session. It looks like it was just created within the last month or so. Working great so far with onsong and MainStage 3. It's called "gorges midi network pro"
  12. Here in 2015 still have this problem. Have you found a solution?
  13. I'm looking for a way to connect an iPad to core midi via wifi automatically so that whenever the iPad and mac are on the same network a midi connection initiates automatically. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems as though I have to go in and manually connect the iPad every time I want to use it. I'm putting the finishing touches on a keyboard rig I built for our keyboard player and I'm trying to keep it completely idiot proof. I'm looking for a way to do this in the network midi setup or to find a app that can do this. Any ideas, thanks in advance!
  14. In the future you should avoid posting off topic items in threads and start a new one with your specific topic. Good forum house keeping is very helpful when people are searching for answers. No big deal though 8) But to answer your question, you can go to the layout screen and click on the keyboard you have assigned to your alesis. On the left of the screen there will be a horizontal slider where you can set the velocity sensitivity.
  15. yeah the layout page is a disaster in my opinion lol. I really wish there was the option to have multiple pages so you didn't have to cram everything onto one page. Hopefully a future update will incorporate this.
