  1. As if the lack of multiple CC lanes in the piano roll is bad enough, there is a far worse problem using midi CC automation in Logic that is driving me bat s#!+ crazy. I couldn't figure out why my midi CC data was not saving or playing back correctly and other times go missing and I just realized there are 4 (yes 4) layers of midi CC lane data competing with each other. You have midi track midi CC information and midi region CC information (and in preferences you can opt to have one take precedence over the other). But beyond that I just realized selected midi notes in piano roll also have their own midi CC automation independent of the midi region CC automation!! WTF? And beyond that there is also a bug whereby the CC midi automation in the piano roll competes with the CC automation in the midi view in the arrange window, even when linked!!!! Am I correct in seeing this or is my version of Logic Messed up? If this true then for a DAW whose reputation is built on midi this is a disaster!!! Someone please tell me There is a preference to do away with all these competing layers of midi CC automation and that I'm doing something wrong. I knew Logic is buggy but this is beyond reason. People complain about Pro Tools's midi but at least it functions how it's supposed too. I can't imagine the designers of Logic didn't see this through and force you to babysit 4 competing layers of midi CC data!!! For God's sake, someone --- please shine some light on this and tell me I'm doing something wrong!!!
  2. Hi Attra Thanks for the reply How do you create a Control to set Channel Strip view mode to tracks? How do you create Banks with offset? How do remap the Select Controls? I assume these are all created in Logic?
  3. Have you had any luck with this? I just posted in the other thread. I'm using Metgrid and I want to use program changes or CC commands to select any one of my 38 midi tracks in Logic. For example, for my orchetrsal template I want to be able to select, say Midi track 2 (Flute) using my external controller. But unsure how to set this up.
  4. I came across this thread and I think it has the answer but I need a better explanation on how to set this up. I want to use program changes or CC commands to select any one of my 38 midi tracks in Logic. For example, for my orchetrsal template I want to be able to select, say Midi track 2 (Flute) using my external controller (I'm using Metagrid). So I think the answer is in this thread I'm just lost on how to set this up. Can someone help me? Thanks! - Steve
  5. Thanks for the reply David I'm referring to software instrument patches and patches to be used with vocals and guitar (eg, guitar amp designer patches)
  6. Jkuehlin Have you found the answer to your question? I just got the Avid Transport as well and I would like to know how to do this.
  7. Thanks for the reply Eric I'm finally getting around to browsing Logic's stock patch presets, which sound pretty cool, and when I load, lets say a bass patch I like, it may sound good by itself but once you add other instruments to the project I imagine the patch presets will start to lose its intrinsic value because the final mix will determine what compression, EQ , delay, reverb, etc. if any, that initial track patch will need. Does that make any sense?
  8. When y'all get to the mixing stage in your project I assume the proper thing to do would be to reset all EQ, Compression and other relevant FX in the patches to zero and then start over as normal so the mix starts fresh and flat --- or are you treating the patch settings as one complete instrument and applying additional EQ and compression as you move forward with the mix?
  9. I think it might be my keyboard controller. Guess I have to buy a new one. Anyone have any recommendations for a good quality keyboard controller? I like fully weighted keys that have good velocity resolution. Can't make up my mind between Roland A-88 vs Casio Privia PX-5S. Any opinions on these? Which one has better action?
  10. Hello everyone I'm using an old studiologic SL-990 xp 88 key keyboard controller. The controller is connected to logic via a midi out cable going into a MOTU Fastlane USB midi port which is connected to my mac via USB cable. So its basically a mid to USB converter). I can' get away with playing more than 4 bars without getting a random stuck midi note and I'm having a very hard time troubleshooting this problem. I've tried 3 midi cables so I know its not the midi cable. It seems every time I have free time to sit down and write music I am confronted with a technical problem and all time and inspirations is lost. Any help would be much appreciated. Sincerely, Frustrated Logic User
  11. I recently purchased Avid Transport control but having communication problems with its software and Logic. Avid support wants me to uninstall and then reinstall Logic Pro X as part of the trouble shooting process. I just want to make sure I do this correctly without erasing any preferences, screen sets, and other saved settings such as patches, etc. Can someone recommend the best way to do this? Thanks do much - Steve Also, if anyone else had success using the Avid Transport or had the same issue I woluld love your input as well. Thanks
  12. OK - The Kontakt Player issue was solved - The problem was caused by my CC7 volume pedal which seems to be broken. However the pitch shift plugin bug is unresolved. Could it be the audio file I used?
  13. Hi Dave For some reason Logic installed the folders for patches, channel strip settings, key commands, Project Templates, Plug-In Settings, etc under Home/Music/Audio Music Apps The only thing in my Library Folder/Application Support/Logic are the following 2 files: "DefaultAssets.plist" and "LoopsDatabaseV08.bd" I'm really confused. - Steve
