  1. Yeah, I was actually looking for a tool that would help do this so that I don't have to manually go and turn up the volume at the specific parts because that would require surgeon-like precision for it to not sound terrible (Also, the instances where this happens are a lot and that would take a tremendous amount of time) So you mention an Uwards compressor. Is there such a thing at all?
  2. I'm trying to edit a video I recorded with an iphone. Turns out, the iphone seems to be defective and the volume in the video keeps cutting in and out, sometimes completely and sometimes the volume just suddenly drops very low down, and then back up. Obviously, nothing can be done for the instances where the audio is completely cut off, but at least for the instances where the volume simply drops down very low, I would imagine something can be done to "normalize" the levels. I thought the Compressor would be the tool to do that but I have not found out how to do it, if that's the tool. Otherwise, can someone please tell me what plugin or tool I can use to do this and try to normalize the volume levels on the audio track? (this is for Logic Pro X Version 10.7.4)
  3. Nevermind, you just said the magic word: I just checked the Audio Preferences and that's where I was allowed to set my microphone as the audio input. In any case, I'm using a Mac OS Monterrey, and it's an Apogee microphone. Thanks.
  4. This is a recurring problem I have when trying to use a Microphone on Logic pro, and it seems that with each new update, the way to solve the problem keeps changing. I wish they stopped making this so complicated. Usually when this problem happened, I just clicked on the I/O button on the Inspector and select an input source. Now, on Logic Pro version 10.7.3, there is no I/O button on the inspector. The only thing I have is a button that says "Input". When I click on it, I get a list of Bus channels to send the track to. If I choose any of those bus channels and then try to click on the Circle button on the Audio track, the circle button simply flashes. If I try to record audio, no audio is recorded. So how do I select an input source now?
  5. Logic X Pro (10.3.2) user I'm writing music to a short clip and I was using the Virtual keyboard on the Computer Keyboard since I only needed to write a few notes for my mock-up. Well, I don't know what F*****G key I hit but now the movie pre-visualization that I normally have on top of the tracks, has disappeared. I can still see the movie on the top left corner and I can still maximize it, but I want the pre-visualization I had on top of the tracks, which showed all the visual keyframes synched to the audio. I have not found anything on the internet that even begins to address this question.
  6. Oh my God!! That was it! Logic was not selected as an app that was allowed access to the microphone. As soon as I checked the box, it worked. Thank you sooooo much!!!!!!
  7. I've done this several times before but for some reason today it's not working. I plug my Apogee mic into the USB slot, and I see that Logic recognizes the microphone. If I go to settings/audio, I can see that the Apogee mic is set as the Input Device (It appears as "Mic 96K) But if I try to record, you can see that Logic is not detecting any sound. Even after clicking the R and the I icon. Clicking on the R, actually gives me this blinking R which I don't remember having before (even though my online research says that this just means that the Recording is enabled) Few things you should know: * I've already confirmed that the mic does work. I've tested it on settings and I also tested it using it on Google phone. So it's not the mic * I've already checked Preferences/Audio and made sure that the Mic is set as the Input Device * I've also already tried resetting things by disabling the Core Audio box, and then re-enabling it. * I've already made sure that the LED light on the mic is green and that the input is set to Input 1. Also: * I just tested it with Garage Band, and unlike Logic X, Garage Band is receiving the signal and recording sound. Let me know if there's anything I'm missing. Thank you.
  8. I tried it, and thank God it worked. It was really crippling my ability to work. Any idea why that happens in the first place?
  9. So when I use Logic Pro X on my Laptop, I use both the mouse and the trackpad. The right hand mouse, to hover the cursor and to click on things, and the trackpad to both enlarge and minimize the windows. I'm constantly enlarging and minimizing regions when I work and so, this is essential for me. But today, for some mysterious reason, I open Logic Pro to work and suddenly, the trackpad option to maximize and minimize the window is completely unresponsive. Anyone have any clue where to fix this?
  10. I can't believe I'm actually having to come to this forum and opening a thread to ask this, but Logic 9 doesn't seem to be able to follow this simple instruction: Create a 6/8 signature. Not 6/4, not 3/4. It needs to be 6/8. I am transcribing an orchestral arrangement and I need to transcribe it the way it's written. I understand the mathematical principle that you can technically write 3/4, but I just can't believe that Logic can't write this time signature which isn't even that uncommon. A LOT of music is written in 6/8. And yet, despite my attempt and google searches, there seems to be no way to do this. Or is there?
  11. That sounds like a good idea. The only problem with learning by myself, whether it's doing an internship at a recording studio, or just learning all I can by reading books and watching tutorials, is that it's a very erratic and inconsistent process in which I lack supervision. But I am considering that possibility as well. As far as google reviews, most of the reviews of these three schools I've researched, are very positive. So there's not much gray area there. If I'm gonna make a decision based on the reviews, then theoretically, any of those schools should be pretty good.
  12. Because I'm finding that looking for work only as a composer is not working for me. Because, for one thing, I am competing in a market where there's thousands of composers willing to work for free. I've talked to people in the industry and they all agree with me that finding jobs as a Composer or as a Screenwriter are way more difficult to find than jobs as an Editor or Audio Engineer, which are more practical, and technical jobs. Does that mean I am quitting my dream of working as a composer? No, but I need to broaden my experience. I need to obtain skills in other departments within the Audio Industry. Also, when you work as a composer, you still need to be able to do a good mix since most of the work you do is in Digital Audio Workstations. I haven't even been able to get some of my music accepted at audiojungle.com because the mix isn't up to their level of proficiency.
  13. Thank you again for your response. I have to confess something: I'm starting to get a bit worried about a sort of attitude that I'm seeing in the personel from these schools. So far, both The Recording Connection and The Institute of Audio Research have had people calling me on my phone, basically asking me how I'm going on the process of applying, and whether or not I've made a decision about when I wanna start studying. Am I the only one that finds this a bit strange? I've never had any school have their staff calling me on my phone asking me "So... have you decided whether you want to study with us yet?". Sounds to me a bit desperate. Why would a school be so desperate that they have to call their prospective students to make sure they are going to apply to their school after all? So far, the only school that hasn't done this is SAE Institute, which is the most expensive one. Which is leading me to suspect that this is all about money. Another thing that worried me, being about the reliability of what the school's website says. I'm talking specifically about the Recording connection. Yesterday I was at their website, taking time to read the curriculum. I found a couple things that were odd. First of all, the curriculum section seems to make no sense. if you go here: http://www.recordingconnection.com/courses/ you will find a list of the courses. But when i clicked on them, I found things that were odd. For example: If you click on the Audio Engineering Program, and then compare it to the Music Production Program, you will find they are IDENTICAL. How can you have two programs with two completely different names that are identical? Then there are other links that don't give you the program description, such as "Film, TV and Video Game Music Composer", and "Music Business" Then, I went to the "Get Hired" tab and click the "Job Assistance" link. I saw there were a series of testimonials at the bottom of the page. It says "learn how these apprentices became success stories" and shows a list of people who studied at the school and are now "successful". Out of curiosity I tried googling their names. Well, not a single one of them has their own website, not even a soundcloud account. I haven't been able to find any of their works, or any proof that they are currently working in the medium. And these are supposed to be the examples of successful people that made it in the industry? So again, I don't know if I'm looking too much into it, but these are the things that are starting to make me doubt.
