  1. Awesome Jordi, thank you for getting to the bottom of this. It just works fine now.
  2. Yes, I've set the "external instrument's destination to the IAC Driver (I have only one IAC port open). Here is a screenshot of my non-working setup: I tested the different sequencers (in the Reaktor Factory Library > Sequencers) with the setup in the screenshot, which involves the "External instrument / IAC" trick: - SQ16: no (no data in the monitor at the attached to the IAC driver port of the Physical Input) - SQ8: no - SQ8x8: yes - SQP: no - SQX: no For Spiral, it works fine without the "External instrument / IAC" trick, so it works with just the reaktor instance as a midi FX, and any instrument software in the instrument slot of the track, we can just press record and it records the midi. I'm not sure if I want to dive into scripting to make this work, it seems too complicated compared to what I want to achieve. But thanks for the suggestion. I would just have hoped that Reaktor and logic played better together as far as midi routing. Maybe in a few years?
  3. To follow up on your first post, I was able to go to the "click and ports" layer of the environment, and pull a cable out of the IAC driver, and put a monitor at the end of it, but I never saw any data coming through the monitor. I believe the SQ16 sequencer doesn't work exactly the same way. Not sure.
  4. Thanks for the detailed answer. I should have been clearer in my post, I'm actually interested in recording the midi data out of the SQ16 sequencer specifically (or SQ8, or SQ8x8, or SQP, or SQX actually), and record it in a midi track in logic pro (either the same track or another, I'm not sure, whatever works...). I hope your next post will cover it, as I've not found this information elsewhere in a clear manner so far.
  5. So if I understand correctly, recording midi out from a Reaktor sequencer (SQ16 in particular), can't be done using the VST version of Reaktor ? We must use an IAC setup which involves using the standalone version of Reaktor ?
  6. Thanks for your answer Jordi. However I'm not sure if things work how they are supposed to or if I don't know how to do it, but here is what I did, and it didn't work: - create a new software instrument track with "external instrument" on it, and set the midi output (of the external instrument) to the IAC driver. - click the "Audio FX" slot in the track and insert the "Audio Units > Native Instruments > Reaktor 6 MFX" plugin. - load SQ16 (in Reaktor) and press play on logic transport (I can hear the beat playing so far) - open the environment and go to the "click and ports" layer - In there pull a cable from the IAC driver port of the "Physical Input" to a monitor At that point, since the transport is playing, if midi was sent out by the "external instrument", I would expect the monitor to display some data (the midi data that is played while logic is playing), but that's not the case: the monitor displays nothing. I also tried to download the "midi Fx Freeze" app, but the download link is broken (redirecting to inexisting url: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/midi-fx-freeze/id1475527978). I tried to find "midi fx freeze" on the apple store website (https://www.apple.com/app-store/) but they don't have it. So unfortunately at the moment I still don't know how to do it.
  7. I know this has been answered a few times, but I'm still confused about the setup. My goal is to record midi out of a reaktor sequencer. Now there are different types of sequencer: Spiral, and the others. With spiral, I found the setup, it's pretty easy: - create a new "External midi" track - in the MidiFX slot of the track, insert Reaktor (Audio Units > Native Instruments > Reaktor 6 MIDIFX) - then with this track selected, press the record button in logic, it will write the midi data from spiral into the logic midi track Now the problem I have is I want to record the output from the SQ16 sequencer. It's older than spiral and doesn't work the same way. I just don't know how to do it, apart from (not tested) using the standalone version of reaktor, and pass via an IAC driver. I would prefer to avoid this setup if possible, because I find it not very practical.
  8. This question has been asked in 2013/2014, is there any more convenient way to do it now in 2020 ? I have the same problem, trying to route a reaktor sequencer (SQ16) into any software instrument (ES2 for instance), with the goal of recording the midi data out of the reaktor sequencer.
  9. Hi, is there any shortcut to open/close the automation lanes of the selected track only? Basically, which would do the same action as clicking the disclosure triangle in the track header (when in automation mode). I found cmd+Y useful to cycle through the used parameters, but not exactly what I'm looking for.
  10. I did the same tests with the "Input Monitoring" checkbox that appears in the "new audio track" dialog: it also needs to be unchecked, otherwise the ducking still happens. I did not see any difference with the "Independent monitoring level for record enabled channel strips" setting on and off though.
  11. However, I found out that it happened only if the "Record Enable" checkbox is ticked in the new audio track dialog. So now I leave it unchecked and I don't have the problem anymore. That didn't solve the problem, but at least I can avoid it Maybe it's my "sound card" that tells logic to duck the audio fader?
  12. Thanks for the suggestion. I just made a quick test, unplugging all my physical inputs and I still have the problem. I also checked that there was nothing suspicious/unusual in the environment (and there wasn't).
  13. It's 10.5.1, but I believe I had the same problem in 10.4. It's not a big problem, just alt+clicking the fader solves it, but for the sake of having everything working perfectly... It might be a bug?
  14. Hi, when I create a new audio track, the fader is at -24db instead of 0db, as it used to be before, if I remember correctly. I don't know what I did wrong but since a certain point in time, logic dimmed all my new audio tracks. I didn't find a setting in the preferences to configure that, am I missing something? Can this be fixed?
