  1. actually you can download them from peachpit's website instruction's on the first page of the ebook topic: Where are the lesson files? follow the instruction and you should be able to get them. (for both Advanced and Level 1 book)
  2. It would be better to have an audio intereface but it's not necessary. You could plug outputs from your turntable into your Line Input of the iMac. apogee duet seems like a nice one but I don't like the fact that you'll have to attach the snake cable that comes with it. In my opinion, Presonus or TC Electronic makes nice ones for the purpose as well. simple and effective: Presonus Audiobox http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AudioBoxUSB/ more features: TC Impact Twin http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ImpactTwin/
  3. The answer is... no where. You just need to study the whole book. Apple doesn't let you know even which one you've missed.. Only apple and test takers get to see them... Good luck.
  4. i guess the icon indicates which mode you're set to. With underline = auto set WIthout underline = regular
  5. funny to post something at the same time... Thanks redlogic that also solves the problem!!
  6. ctrl clicking on locator area brings up the contextual menu in there UNCHECK the Autoset locator like command.. *my system is currently running in Japanese and I don't know the correct title it shows up on the logic.
  7. I'm having trouble with Logic automatically updating locator position locator length to one bar that edit has just been made... I want my locator to stay in the location and length i've set to before edit... How would I disable this feature? or is it a bug?? Mac pro 10.5 Logic 9.1.0
  8. Well the problem was on the Kontrol49... Kontrol49's driver I think tell Logic to handle it as Control Surface... not as a regular Keyboard Controller. And I guess Logic doesn't handle Expression Pedal CC#11 message from Control Surfaces.. The work around was to delete Kontrol49 from Control Surfaces list.. Now it acts normal and i can change CC# input to another CC# Physical Input > Fader that handles CC# conversion/remapping > Sequencer Input that's all I had to do.
  9. I'm trying to use expression pedal to control CC#11 how would I do this? Controller is Kontrol49 and expression pedal is xvp-10 it seems to control volume and not #11 on selected tracks? Also how would I let mod wheel control CC#11 and let expression pedal to control CC#1 (E.P. controls vibrato and M.W. controls expression, breath, etc) How would i assign whatever knob or fader to whatever CC# on selected tracks? Do transformer object or expert view controller assign handle these? I can only seem to set it to control ChannelStrip > Volume for selected tracks.. I wanted CC# on there.. but thought someone might know how to achieve this.
  10. I would say get a goooooooood teacher who can explain things for you. 4 year college usually base them on Classical Music theory like 4 part harmony - Why parallel 5ths or 8ves are considered bad.. although there were period when people were just doing 5ths motion.. and Punk rock, lots of rock kind of rely on that.... but like learning rules are like what ? usually. To me they are. people who know how to use root position, inversion suspension, cadence, etc would be ideal. Learn I, IV, V chords and their connection to melody or song structure. and then learn to substitute with ii, iii, vi, etc that's probably the start. do it in both major and minor... Rest you should talk to your teacher about it. You have to have the SOUND first. not theory.
  11. Korg is gonna be (or released) much smaller a little more realistic controller nano seris. nanoKey nanoKontrol nanoPad width of a laptop. super compact. Probably decent quality (not sure about velocity response and things like that but) for the size. http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?a_prod_no=NanoSeries&category_id=8
  12. I'm just subscribing to this post.. as i just had same question.
  13. It's very interesting subject; score and mock up connection. - sfz etc. From Programming (Like c++ or something) point of view you'd need a variable to store its previous state so you can go back to that state after executing one normal state. sfz needs to work more like function or sub routine. so logic won't be acting like procedural... I would say.. IF logic had that it'd be possible to come up with some kind of library or like performance library (like in sibelius, etc) to create that sort of thing..? so like if you could let logic memory key switching info or make some kind of messages articulation/key switching affecting only one note. You probably could... probably alot more complicated (especially if you are dealing with different samples with different way of achieving the same thing.. you'd have to intelligently check for those, i suppose) I bet there is nothing like it... so I guess you'd have to do something like you said.. or is there?
