  1. It may be safer to insert a trim plugin with 3db of gain such as an Avid Trim on the tracks in Pro Tools. This may be the fastest way to get you to the same gain structure you have in Logic.
  2. It may be a difference in Pan Laws. Newer Pro Tools defaults to -3db. Logic defaults to -3db compensated. So, a 0db file will play back at 0db in Logic. If panned hard left or right, it will be +3db. In Pro Tools, a 0db file will be at -3db, but when panned hard or left will be at 0db. More or less. Hope this helps.
  3. I use the Kensington Expert Mouse but mostly use the Logitech M570 Trackball. I would recommend getting ControllerMate as this will allow you to customize the tracking and the buttons: http://www.orderedbytes.com/
  4. ben37, In AudioFinder, you can set up Key Commands to open External Editors. Check out Page 64 of the AudioFinder Manual. I also use a ShuttlePRO2 with AudioFinder, etc. to access Key Commands etc: http://ergo.contour-design.com/ergonomic-mouse/shuttlepro-v2 Hope this helps.
  5. Well, I used Peak off and on from within Logic for destructive editing, but there were issues with Peak regarding updating files once they were saved, since Peak 4.x at least. I've tried DSP-Quattro and AudioFIle Engineering's Wave Editor also. I have settled on IcedAudio's AudioFinder. With AudioFinder as my external editor, I can open the file from within Logic and pick and choose which ever editor I need to use for the job. From within AudioFinder I can access Peak, DSP-Quattro, Wave Editor, Sample Manager, Loop Editor, Melodyne, iZotope RX, etc. Very cool. Very handy. Once the file is saved, it ends up back in Logic. Peak still has the saving issue, but I believe the rest have been behaving. I have Presonus Studio One Pro, purchased on a half-off sale that I have used to assemble CDs with. It's pretty idiot proof and is laid out nicely, similar to how WaveBurner worked. Hope this helps.
  6. Well, I spoke too soon… Problem came back. I uninstalled Default Folder x 4.6.4 and rolled back to Default Folder X 4.5.12, the last version to support Rosetta. Problem appears resolved. Egads… LOL. Thanks.
  7. Well, I may have fixed this: I started Logic holding down Control to boot without audio drivers. I then switched to Built in, Input and Output. Then switched back to Saffire drivers. Everything is working as expected. Created three projects, rebooted and created a fourth. How Bizarre…
  8. Thanks David. It's still not working correctly. I created a new folder on the Desktop and directed Logic to save the new project in that folder. It again created a project, an audio files folder and a folder with the name of the project on it. Quite strange. LOL.
  9. Dudes and Dudettes, I have recently ran into a problem with Logic 9 not creating Project Folders correctly when saving a new project. Logic will create a project, an audio files folder and a folder with the name of the project, all next to each other as opposed to the project and audio files folder being within the project folder. I'm baffled. LOL. I've checked permissions, ran Applejack and Onyx, reset preferences and reinstalled Logic. This 'may' have started after I created an external drive with 10.8.5 on it, which is more or less a mirror of my 10.6.8 work drive. Thanks.
  10. Apple Loops are hit or miss. As are Acid Loops. And often Rex Loops. I say this as one who works in Soundware Development and have made many loops and libraries. You're solution of using the loop as Audio and using Pitch-n-Time, can be a better solution, especially on things like Acoustic Guitar loops. Acoustic Guitar loops almost always sound wobbly. PITA when you're trying to make these as usable as possible for users. Sometimes Melodyne works well. Sometimes Logic's built in TC/Expansion (Option-Right Drag Region Boundary) works well. I know it sucks. This is an issue developers deal with all of the time. It's just the nature of how these kinds of loops work. Hope this helps.
  11. It looks like you have updated your gear since your last posts. Is Mainstage responding to 'Down Arrow' on the Mac keyboard? Have you checked that you have an up to date version of the MOTU installers? Have you checked to see if the FS-5U works as a sustain pedal on your Impulse? Hopefully one of those ideas helps.
  12. Boss pedals help a lot also. It may be because of the buffer in them. IDK. LOL. Sounds better though.
  13. That's cool. I have found, depending on the interface, guitar pedals make it sound better. It may be an impedance thing, although your Duet says that it has instrument inputs.
  14. Is the Glyph also connected to an audio interface? I ask as I had a lot of problems with HDs and audio interfaces on the same Firewire bus. The problem was solved by using a SIIG FIrewire 800 ExpressCard on my laptop. Maybe a similar solution for you. Hope this helps.
