I am learning Logic and got to automation.... Wow - still a bug 4 years later!

I have to do some A/B comparisons on stereo micing of an acoustic guitar. I have a stereo pair of mics (recorded to a stereo track) and an alternate mic on the treble side of the guitar. I need to A/B between the stereo pair (one stereo track in Logic) and just the right channel of the stereo track with the alternate mic (2 mono tracks). I already set then to two groups and made sure to include the "solo" option. I can use OPT+Click and get either the stereo track or one of the two other tracks. But I can't figure out how to get the "Group" function to work with OPT+Click. If I just hit the solo button on one of the two mono tracks both do solo. If I go to the stereo track and hit OPT+Solo I get get just that track - but then i can't get back. Maybe another way of asking is - is there an easy way to solo between one group of tracks and another during playback? Any help much appreciated!

As a Pro Tools refugee I also wish Logic would have an option for a simple Input Monitor Button = Input Signal only mode. For doing punchins i can see the "both signals" option as being useful but only if I can easily turn the playback one down so that most of what i hear is the input signal. If the PB and Input obeyed the two settings of the fader (I have playback and Record decoupled) then that would be great but present implementation has both the playback AND Input signals obeying the same fader. Not useful at all for me that way....

I have the good fortune to have an IOS, IOX, DLS and DLI in my studio (I am a beta tester for this product line). I have been using the DigiGrid system since December 2014 and have posted reviews for the DLS, IOS and IOX on GS. Just letting everyone know these are out there. I have used the system just a little with Logic ProX (I know PT much better but am improving slowly on Logic).
