  1. Hi, I believe I have recreated the steps needed. It mat be Apple 101 to most of you, but it may be helpful to someone. I will try to put the 7 screenshots in order. First, quit Logic. Then in the Finder "Go" menu go to your computer "peter's mac pro" in this instance. Open time machine, choose a backup version by date, then navigate to the drive you want to retrieve the song from. Go through "Users" to "Music" to "Logic" and navigate to the song. Now, here's the trick that eventually worked for me: DON'T try to double click the Logic X project icon with your title in it. Instead, copy it to your desktop. Then double-click and you may be prompted to choose an autosaved version. Once you have done that your song version from that date should open. One thing to note is that I'm using a 4TB conventional drive for Time Machine; I normally use SSD drives, so you have to be patient - it takes longer to do things and you might think it's not doing anything for a few seconds.
  2. David, I will try to retrace my steps today and write down what I did. I tried it again this morning and it didn't work, but I did get it to work yesterday and will report back. P
  3. I accidentally erased 8 bars of background vocals in a project. I didn't realize it until I'd already backed up my work for the day to an external drive, otherwise I'd retrieve them from that. I have Time Machine and it shows several versions from a few hours ago, before I erased the vocals, but I cannot open Logic from Time machine. I get a message saying the operation cannot be completed. Could someone please tell me how to open a logic project from a few hours ago, so I can export the background vocal tracks? Or tell me how to import the background vocal tracks from Time Machine into my current Logic project? Thanks very much. P
  4. David, thanks for showing the articulation menu. I was looking in the wrong place. What would make editing faster would be if the different articulation levels could be displayed in the automation window beneath the piano roll. Maybe that will be a future update. P
  5. David, I feel pretty dense but cannot get the articulations to show up in the piano roll window like you have. If I have that window active and click on "track" the "configure track header" option is grayed-out. It's only active when I'm in the main arrange window. When you get the chance, could you please show me how to do it? Thanks. P
  6. David, that function would be great. Please tell me how to activate that. My window doesn't have that function. (see below) Thanks. P
  7. Thanks, I knew about the mod-wheel thing, which can of course provide hours of fun (see below...) I did find I could select, say, all the mid hi-hats and then assign a set articulation so i could customize the feel of the hh a little without entering articulation for every note. Or, I could hire a drummer... P
  8. David, thanks for posting this. I must admit to not knowing about articulation for the hh. Is it possible in the piano roll window to access that control, maybe being able to highlight the mid-hh and write levels for it there? Screen shot below for reference. I did not see any "articulation" choice in the "view menu of the piano roll. Peter
  9. Thanks, I suspected as much. SVP had some unique features.
  10. I wrote a song in 12/8 and wanted to see what it would sound like in 4/4. Is there a way to covert it, as there used to be in Studio Vision Pro? I ended up just re-playing the parts as best I could, but it would be nice to be able to convert it. Thanks. Peter
  11. Iv'e tried numerous times from the purchased items and will keep trying. It spins for an hour or so then gives up. There's something about a trillion-dollar corporation having a flaky web site that somehow just rubs me the wrong way...
  12. When I do that I'm told my Mac is up to date, running Mojave 10.14.6. I have automatic app updates clicked, but Logic remains at 10.4.4.
  13. I recently upgraded my OS to 10.14.6 Mojave on my Mac Pro 5.1 and am told the latest version of LPX I can run is 10.5.1. I read some threads about trashing LPX 10.4.4, then going to the app store and finding LPX under "purchased" and downloading it. I did so, but all that happens is a little spinning thing. This goes on for more than 30 minutes, so I suspect it's never going to work? Is there another way to do this? Thanks. P
  14. Thank you both for this info. I'm glad it's not operator error but rather is a bug. I hope it gets fixed, but at least now i know not to force quit. P
