  1. That is a VERY different piano tone than your original example and I fear you are over thinking this. Pull up one of many good stock piano's in logic and play with EQ presets and reverb presets until you find something you like. Composition and performance is 99.9% of the equation so hopefully you are spending most of your time on that.
  2. Your midi will serve as a "trigger" for the virtual instruments samples. Your midi data can still be manipulated to your hearts content. I really like the spitfire BBC symphony and it comes with a pretty good plug to help with the learning curve. https://www.spitfireaudio.com/bbcso/, oh, and it's free.
  3. If budget is an issue, I still go to my AT2020 a LOT even though I have more expensive mics. https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/at2020
  4. If you want to really want some fun piano samples spend some time on https://www.pianobook.co.uk. It is a wonderful way to kill a weekend or two.
  5. I think I am having this problem but the link above to the file is no longer active. Is there an updated link?
  6. Songs and mixes will always sound different in different environments and speakers. Good production involves working with mixes in different environments as you mix. Best practice is to have a reference track of a song you like with similar production always handy. Work your mix till you get close to that. Also, don't be afraid to experiment with compressors and EQ in logic. They are pretty good and will get you a long way.
  7. Thanks for all the info. I will do some digging into the machine and see what I can find. Hopefully it is just a graphics issue. Also thanks for the notes on the interface options.
  8. The mid 2010 MacBook Pro that I has been my logic pro x machine of choice has finally gone on to silicon castle in the sky. I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro that I am considering moving to but my interface (Zehringer FCA1616) seems to work better with FireWire than USB. Apple sells a Firewire to Thunderbolt adaptor but it has gotten mixed reviews. Anyone have any experience with moving away from firewire? Is it best to get a thunderbolt adaptor or work with USB 3.0? Thanks everyone! Logic Pro 10.1.1 MacBook Pro Late 2013 intel core i7 8GB ram Behringer FCA1616
  9. I guess there aren't any obvious solutions out there. The next thing I am going to try is streaming my machine using VLC. We will have to communicate over the phone but hopefully the audio quality is enough to do some basic collaboration.
  10. I have been working on some tracks with a colleague who is not in the same town as I am. It is a hassle to bounce and send tracks over and over again when it would be so much easier to collaborate in real time. Tonight we tried google hangouts and it didn't go well. The audio he got was garbled even though it was clear on my end. We tried some of the on-line tools OhmStudio and mumble but didn't have much luck. Has anyone found a good way to work collaboratively in real time using logic? Is there a desktop sharing tool with high quality audio? MacBook Pro Logic Pro X 10.1.1 Thanks!
