  1. Too late, I’m now doing a clean erase and install of OSX!
  2. I know! I've told Focusrite that neither DAW works but they insist I contact support for the DAWs who say my setup is correct. It's mind-numbing sorry.
  3. Good idea, will also give Garageband a Try. I also can't get it working in Studio One so having another DAW not working may finally convince Focusrite that this isn't a DAW issue. Cheers
  4. Yes, each Clarett device uses different channels for Loopback depending on the number of physical outs - so you can't transfer the Loopback channel numbers between them. But I've tried all of them in Logic. BTW, thanks for all your effort. I never mean't for anyone here to check the Focusrite side of things, I was hoping an expert could check my Logic setup but it's actually pretty simple - right? Create a track Set the inputs to the Loopback channels of your device Record-arm the track and turn the volume down Hit play in iTunes Hit record in Logic Besides ensuring the system (and iTunes) is using the Clarett in System Prefs –> Sound, there's no trick to it - right?
  5. Thanks for the reply. Yes, that screenshot shows the outputs you can use to feed the input of the Loopback channels. I have it set to the main outs of the 8pre. As soon as I choose another pair (and I've tried them all), the main outs are no longer feeding the Loopback channels so the meters go dead. BTW. I'm not trying to record Logic's main outs. I'm trying to record OSX's system outs (for YouTube, iTunes etc). I think DAW is in brackets as a helpful hint - they're not DAW-only if that makes sense because the only other options I have are to use the analogy outs. Plus, if any other outs besides 1+2 are selected, the Loopback channel meters go dead. Which makes sense because the system is using Software Playback 1+2 as far as I can tell. Does that make sense or am I still not understanding your question?
  6. Thanks heaps for the reply but I think I misunderstood an earlier question sorry. You can't change the Loopback output channels, they're fixed at 11+12. However, you can change the source which feeds them in Focusrite Control. But iTunes is obviously sending to the main outs, so changing them simply stops the Loopback channels from receiving System/iTines audio. Is that what you mean or have I misunderstood you?
  7. Yes, but when I cycled through some of the options (or made a custom mix) the Loopback meters in Focusrite Control went dead, presumably because iTunes is being sent to the main outs (1+2) - right? Here you can see the Loopback meters light up when set to 1+2 and iTunes is playing...
  8. Yes, I’ve cycled through every pair of inputs in Logic.
  9. Yes thanks, it pre-dates Focusrite Control though. Does the Logic setup I described seem correct or is there a trick to it?
  10. Hi There, I can't work out how to use the Clarett 8pre's Loopback channels to record computer audio (like YouTube or iTunes). So far I've... Ensured Logic Pro has access via System Prefs –> Security & Privacy –> Microphone Set Sound System Prefs to the Clarett 8Pre Created a blank Logic document with 1 stereo channel Checked that Logic, Focusrite Control & Audio MIDI Setup are set to the same sample rate and bit depth Set the inputs of the channel to the Loop back channels of the 8pre (11+12) Record-armed the track and turned on input monitoring Turned the fader down to stop feedback Hit record in Logic Hit play in iTunes When I hit play in iTunes... The hardware meters on the Clarett light up, and I hear audio via the Monitors In Focusrite Control, the loopback channel meters are alive, indicating the outs are being looped back But the meters in Logic are dead and nothing records I've also tried... Recording with the Logic channel muted and the fader up Cycling Logic's Track inputs through every pair of the Clarett's inputs Cycling Focusrite Controls Loopback inputs and creating a custom mix Restarting and power cycling the 8pre Removing Focusrite Control and the 8Pre's driver and reinstalling both (plus a restart and 8pre power cycle) Resetting the Security & Privacy Microphone Access Database via a Terminal command Re-adding Logic to the Security & Privacy System Prefs Contacting Focusrite support Focusrite Support Focusrite said this is a DAW issue because the Loopback meters in Focusrite Control show audio is being looped back from the outputs. To be honest, that seemed to be the primary concern of the chat agent - making sure I understood this wasn't a Focusrite issue. Can anyone see what I've missed? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers, Ben
  11. It may be a visual bug but when you have a short looping clip, it goes out of time the more it loops - this is how I noticed it. I actually thought it was a Logic/Tempest/Midi sync issue while recording (and wasted a day messing with it) until I noticed the loop point was ever so slightly out. Now I cut files instead of dragging the end point, cutting is way more accurate - no timing issues.
  12. I regularly see this issue so switched to cutting a region rather than dragging it. if I have to drag to shorten regions, I zoom right in to ensure it’s accurate. I suspect the issue is actually to do with the smart snap feature not snapping accurately in certain circumstances but others might know more.
  13. Those in the know probably already know this but I think this is an issue with Smart Snap specifically. After testing with Division Snap, it seems way more accurate - although, when it snaps, it doesn't have the same confident snap as Smart Snap (if that makes sense). But yes, no issues with CMD + T or other snap types.
  14. The problem with using CMD + T is that you lose any fades at the end of that region - dragging the end point keeps fades which is very nice.
  15. One thing I've noticed is that if you select your audio region, then use CMD + T to slice the track (instead of dragging the end of the audio region) you get an accurate slice every time.
