  1. Scenario: A channel strip with a Kontakt 7 multi-output (16xStereo) is instantiated from scratch into a new or existing project. The Kontakt plugin is launched and an existing multi-output is loaded into it. Currently in Logic one must expand out the 16 aux tracks in the mixer and create tracks from that for the main view. One must then label all of the tracks with the appropriate instruments. Is there any way to automate this process (other than launching a Logic template which I already have) as in creating the tracks in Logic and labeling them? I suppose not but I’m hoping someone has an insightful idea. Thanks, Jonathan
  2. I checked one student's machine. He has a standard account. The files are downloaded to their default location. I'll investigate this more tomorrow. Jonathan
  3. Another teacher and I run a High School Music Tech studio that was updated for the current school year. We have sixteen brand new M1 iMacs running the latest versions of Monterey and Logic Pro. We downloaded the entire sound library to the administrator account on each machine. The issue is that each new student (new user) on the machine has to download the entire sound library again which can take hours. Is there a way to download it once so that each subsequent user can access the sound library without downloading it again. This also occurred with our previous studio with Intel iMacs. Any help is greatly appreciated. Jonathan MacOS 12.5.1, Logic Pro 10.7.4
  4. I just fixed it. I experimented with different output settings when creating a new audio track. Still no output. I went into Logic's Preferences>Audio>I/O assignments and into the Output tab. As far as I know, it was always set to Output 7-8 which I had labeled years ago as LPX. I changed the setting to Output 1-2 and the output works. I am happy! Thank you for your help.
  5. No, David. I tried that. When I start a fresh project and play a loop, I see a signal on the Stereo Out meter but no sound at output. FWIW, Garage Band, which I never use except for this test, works perfectly.
  6. Yes, the latest UAD software. I get signal on input, as with an electric guitar, and I can record a track. The sound is loud and clear on input. But when I playback the track...no sound. I tried with existing projects, new projects, audio, MIDI, etc. I set the Apollo Twin to its default setting. All of these have the same result, no output. As stated in my original post, it is only with Logic Pro 10.6.1. All other apps work fine.
  7. I just updated my Mid-2015 MacBook Pro to Big Sur 11.2.3. I use an Apollo Twin Duo as an interface. All of my other apps sound fine through the Apollo including notation software, YouTube, anything and everything...except Logic Pro 10.6.1. My audio settings in Logic did not change. I have used the same interface for 5+ years in the same computer. I’m getting signal within Logic but nothing through the Apollo Twin. As a test, I switched the output and input devices to the Mac system built-in and the output works fine. I switched back to the Apollo thunderbolt and no sound. I checked all of the settings that I can think of and everything looks okay. I also have an iMac running Big Sur. Logic Pro works great when I hook up the Apollo twin duo to it. The output works as designed. Any ideas as to what is up with the MacBook Pro? Thank you in advance. --Jonathan
  8. SOLVED: Found some inadvertent controller assignments listed in Logic Pro X->Control Surfaces->Controller Assignments. I don't know how they got there, but removing them fixed my silent key issue. Jonathan
  9. Hello everyone, I have Logic Pro 10.4.6 running on a 15" mid-2015 MacBook Pro with MacOS 10.14.6 (2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM). My MIDI Controller is a 25 yr. old Fatar Studio 610 Plus. I recently noticed that two keys (E3 and F3 (Yamaha style)) from the Fatar are not registering in Logic. There is no input detected on the display and no sound. This occurs no matter which sample library I use including the Logic libraries. So, one would think the keys are malfunctioning and it's time for a new controller. But wait, those same keys work perfectly with every sample library that has a standalone player outside of Logic Pro that I tested them with, including: Kontakt 5 UVI Workstation Vienna Instruments Pro Aria Player with Garritan Libraries And they work as well in the notation programs, Dorico and Sibelius. I am lost as to what the problem could be. Is there a setting I inadvertently triggered? Any ideas? Thank you in advance. Jonathan Morristown, NJ
  10. Hello everyone, I am having trouble with automation quick access (AQA). I set the Mod Wheel of my old Fatar 61 MIDI controller to be the AQA controller by going into the Automation Preferences and selecting Learn Message, using the Mod Wheel to go through all of the values, and then selecting the Done button. In the automation lane, I select Region and expression, for example. Touch is the selected mode. My understanding is that the AQA Mod Wheel should write to the expression lane, or any parameter chosen, but as soon as I touch the Mod wheel it defaults to Volume. I tried selecting different parameters but the wheel always defaults to Volume. What am I doing wrong? -Jonathan Logic Pro X 10.4.6 MacBook Pro Mid-2015 2.5 GHz i7 16 GB RAM
  11. Thank you, musos. The update was there. All is well.
  12. Strange, this is the first time this has happened to me for a Logic Pro update. The 10.4.6 update doesn't show in the update section of the App Store. I'm running Mojave 10.14.5 on a Mid-2015 MacBook Pro. Any suggestions other than removing Logic from the Applications folder and downloading a new copy from the App Store?
  13. Is there a way to change the order of sends in a channel strip without having to delete the sends and then manually reorder them. In other words, is there a way to drag sends to change their order, or even copy and paste. I don't mean the entire channel strip, just the sends. I've researched and apparently there is not, but I'm hoping someone in this forum may have a more positive solution. I am currently using 10.4.5 of LPX on a 10.14.5 Mojave system. Thank you in advance. Jonathan
  14. Solved: the blue arrow of the inspector was pointing to the Instrument field, creating a .aupreset file, instead of the Setting field (to create a .patch file). Moving the arrow to the Setting field created the correct file. All is well.
  15. In August of 2018 running High Sierra, I saved some patches to the LPX library. They are located in the Audio Music Apps/Patches/Instrument folder. When I open the User Patch section of the library, those items are there as expected. Since then I have installed the latest version of Mojave (10.14.3) and am running the latest Logic Pro X (10.4.4). I attempted to save some patches to the library this evening. The save location is the same as listed above. But when I open the User Patch section of the library, the patches are not listed even though they show clearly in Finder and even in the library’s Save dialog. I tried different examples, relaunched Logic, rebooted the machine, but ended up with the same result. The older patches show in the Library’s User Patches but the new ones don’t, even though they are in the aforementioned folder location. Any ideas? I’m stumped.
