  1. I wrestled with trying to find a clever way to do automate midi changes for a couple years and finally bought a license for ableton live intro ($75 during a sale). I use it in parallel with MS to do all my playback and midi automation and it has worked very well. The combo is very nice because you can leverage the strengths of both programs.
  2. Yea you're right, it's not very clear exactly what that means I interpreted it as describing the only things that iPhone version can be used for.
  3. To be fair, in the app store details it says that the iPhone version of logic remote does not work for MainStage
  4. What types of plugins are you using? I had a problem similar to this and in the end determined it was most likely caused by Arturia plugins. Another symptom was that Mainstage would crash after an hour or two on any session with Arturia. Now I use the auto sampler to sample the Arturia patches and haven't had any problem since.
  5. In a perfect world, it would be great to have a timeline like in a DAW, where you could draw midi notes, add PC messages, and also draw in CC envelopes Also, it would be great to have the option to sync with the playback plug-in. In my use case, we send continuous CC messages to change the brightness of stage lights, which must be in sync with a recorded click and sometimes backing tracks.
  6. I've found that the easiest and most intuitive way to do any sort of automation is to run a simultaneous instance of Ableton Live, and route MIDI through the IAC driver.
