  1. SOLVED. It was the Apple Loops folder. Wants to stay where it is, apparently. No aliases for that big boy.
  2. Greetings. I've searched for a workaround but have found nothing to really help so I'm hoping you guys can. I installed Logic 10.1.1 for the first time on an iMac 3.4 i7 running Yosemite 10.10.3 last week. The SSD HD was pretty full so I followed the advice of and moved the extra content loops to an external drive and created aliases, etc. I fired up Logic and 20,000+ loops were available and could be used. All good, it would seem. This morning I fired up Logic again and the loop count was down by ¾ to about 5,000 loops - all audio, no software or 'green' types. I know that dragging that extra content into the Loop browser had no effect and reindexing didn't do any good either. I'm stuck. *Sigh*. What to do? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  3. I'm still running Logic 8. This morning after installing the 10.6.3 combo update Logic decided it wanted me to enter the serial number again and register. Then, of course, it wants to do the plug validation again so I'm sitting here waiting for it to get through 350 plugs (Waves Mercury) and typing this to you. Not happy.
  4. Yup. Spot on. Interesting though that you have to 're'index to get it happening.. I don't suppose you have any quick solutions to the Toontrack EZPlayer Pro / Environment hassle, do you? Is this of any help? Thanks again, Eric. I'll have a read and give it a shot. You've been most helpful and I owe you one. Or two. http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=46374

  6. Shall do. Thanks Eric. I'm not sure it will work but it's worth a try. Could you tell us which instruments are affected by this issue. It worked Eric, thank you. I had thought about doing this last night but held back until I consulted the gurus here - and that worked too. Instruments affected were mainly the larger piano combo samples - things like piano and strings (where are the strings?) - but there were scattered incidences all over, really. I've just tried half a dozen of the ones I can remember and they're all fine now. One bonus of the Snow Leopard Spotlight seems to be the speed with which it indexes: It managed 200GB of a 320GB drive in about 15 minutes. That's a whole lot faster than the last OS if I'm not mistaken. So good lessons learned all round. Thanks again!
  7. I can't work it out. The EXS couldn't find a heap of files so I did a fresh and full L8 install. While most can be found, there still seems to be a lot of 'can't finds'. I'm running Snow Leopard but this problem was already there beforehand if I recall correctly. Can anyone offer some clues/tips? Many thanks, BK.
  8. Thanks dk, You're quite right, that info is on Digi's support pages. It makes sense as the Mbox2 only uses USB1.1. I think there are more serious issues afoot though...
  9. I've had some interesting experiences so far: I downloaded the update via Software Update which also wanted to download the latest security update - which I let it do. Install was fine. Upon starting up 8.01 for the first time, it had some troubles with midi sync and my Mbox 2. I started it again, this time taking the Mbox 2 out of the USB hub I have hanging off the right side USB port (on my laptop) and plugging it directly into the right USB port of my MacBook Pro 2.4 with 2Gb's RAM. No problems. I then went to rescan my AU's noticing that none of the Waves Vocal bundle had shown up. Interesting to note also that the online manual states that after any update to Logic the AU's will be rescanned. This didn't happen so I looked in prefs for a way to rescan all of the AU's like I was able to in Logic 7. There isn't a way to do this, is there? After floundering around for 5 minutes trying to work out a way to rescan my AU's and searching through the PDF manual to no avail, I resolved to keep exploring this new version. It had locked up and now the prefs menu was greyed out and I couldn't start or shut Logic down. So I force closed it. Not a great experience so far... I did notice, however, that after starting up the last track I was working on, that the CPU workload seems to have been sorted; where the v8 CPU's seemed to be bias to just one hardworking CPU the update now shares the load pretty evenly between the two on my rig. So, back the AU/Logic initialization thang; is there a way to get Logic to go through it's initial set-up stage again, like we were able to in 7? Good luck everyone.
  10. Yep. I work for the distributors of Digidesign in Oz and I get to know a few people.. I'm told the 'manual has been written' but the app isn't 'nearly ready'. .. Tick, tick, tick... I should add that I'm as keen as any of you to see the new Logic as that is all I use and all I really want to use. Business is business though..
  11. This used to happen to me too. It drove me nuts. I'm no expert in this field but I seemed to narrow the problem down to the crappy controller keyboard that I was using. I think it was sending some rogue MIDI information that was warping the pitch. So I trashed the controller, bought an equally inexpensive but (to date) far more reliable ESI KC49 and all is good. So far.
  12. Using the 12th fret harmonic rather than the open string seems to have a better effect. That goes for most software tuners although I'd have to agree with the comment above - the GTR tuner seems to be a little more stable than most.
  13. Occasionally I'm getting 'Illegal region number' warnings. These seem to happen for no obvious reason. The usual scenario is; I start a new project or session on either my Powerbook 1.67 G4 or G5 tower, usually by jacking a guitar straight into the audio input, though not always, I begin recording, stop, and then up comes the error. Cancelling the error loses the notice and then everything works fine. I've searched the online and printed manuals for this anomaly but can find nothing. Any clues?
