  1. Hello all. As title says using an XR18 into 2013 MBP 2.6GHz 8GB RAM 500 GB internal SSD with 170 GB available. V 10.7.4 It would stop recording and I'd notice when my screen saver came on. Not a huge problem as it was a test run and just wanted some direct recording for a demo. Got plenty of material to use. Black Magic Speedtest shows write speed of around 1000MBs (1st test was 500 now consistently around 1000). How can I prevent this in the future so I can get uninterrupted recording? Thanks
  2. I just got a Synology DS420j NAS and was curious to see how other NAS users incorporate them into their music production setups. What do you use it for? What can it do, what can't it do? As far as my research has gone so far I will probably be using a 1TB Samsung SSD connected to my iMac to store sound and project files. Perhaps use NAS to store completed project or ones that are not being used. Does this sound feasible? Thanks for sharing
  3. I am looking for NAS guidance as well. Synology will not format the drive as needed but I will free up my iMac hard drive by using a 1TB external SSD that is now free since I can move my photos to the NAS. Mine is a j series budget NAS and I imagine it would never meet the read/write speeds needed for a Logic session. Have you any updates to this post over the past few weeks? Thanks
  4. Came on the forum to look into using a NAS and came across your post. Wondering if you came up with a better unit. I got a Synology NAS and felt the UI and OS (DSM7) made it stand out in the crowd of NAS's out there. If you can share how a NAS using music production software has worked out for you I'd listen. Thanks
  5. Click on the small arrow to the right of the LCD display and select 'CUSTOM'. Then the division will display and switch back to 16
  6. I used On Song to make Program Changes. It was set for each song so no matter where it appeared it would switch to it. Make a set list in On Song and you don't have to mess with changing PC's
  7. So looking to control stuff using USB MIDI and have come to understand why it never worked before. Couldn't control XR18 mixer using MPK61 and also control iPad synth app unless plugged directly to it with a USB keyboard. I need a USB host or Patchbay software to do this. I found one that has not been updated for Catalina (MIDI Patchbay) and one in the App Store (MIDI patch) but it just does one routing at a time. Happy to see it work but am hoping for multiple routings. Can someone point me to a solution, preferably software. thanks
  8. Currently it is just a practice concert where I have a dozen or so guitar patches that use external MIDI to select my presets. I also have channels for my iPad, laptop, metronome etc. There definitely was a strange sound related to reverbs etc. that would sound during preset switching and that’s gone now as well.
  9. So, the setting to silence previous patch was . . . . . . . 5 seconds. Switched to immediately and problem solved. Guess there was input from 2 presets for 5 seconds causing the extra level.
  10. Hello. I'm getting a situation where my output (USB17/18) is a much higher level than my input and seems to be limiting after 5 seconds on its own. I have an AxeFX into an XR18 coming into MainStage at -12dB outputting around 5dB higher. Then 5 seconds later I hear a click and the output level is reduced to match the input. Any idea how/why this is happening? I don't have any plug ins on the input or output strips. thanks
  11. Seems like a bad USB hub was the issue.
  12. OK, so I said I was rusty. The controller was at the SET level and I was putting the instrument into a PATCH.
