  1. We covered it with soundtracks did we not?
  2. In answering some questions (recently with the Suno AI topic) I was wondering how most forum users here use Logic so David allowed me to make a poll. I hope it works. I've kept the choices fairly standard to keep it simple. If I've not thought of an obvious use please let me know
  3. I noticed you didn’t have Addictive Drums 2 I’ve used them for a number of years now. I give them a 10/10
  4. I have checked it out. Don't get me wrong, my arpeggiator statement isn't flippant or dismissive at all. The tech is incredible. I see how it threatens people's jobs in the industry. I write soundtracks so hitting beats and cuts and taking (sometimes vague) direction from filmakers is something that, for now, is still dependant on human interaction to get the job done. I assume everyone here embraces tech (or they probably wouldn't be on this forum). Lots of us replaced drummers really early on with drum machines and then later with Addictive Drums etc. But when I can work with a drummer (usually percussionist) they always bring a better product than what I do with everything I have. I've 'replaced' an orchestra and choir and percussionists etc with tech out of necessity. When I get a chance (which is very rare) to work with a real quartet, cellist, etc its so much better. I have to hope that songwriters being forced to compete with tech like Suno will make them innovate and come up with something new and fresh and not just genre mashing 'hits' (again, no slight there either) or worse, just give up.
  5. I wonder if a similar conversation was had when they invented an arpeggiator. ”all they have to do now is hold down one key and the keyboard plays everything.’”
  6. Forgive me for not reading this whole post before chiming in. I do agree with some of it. Although I think we all should be wary of des99Bot… On a serious note, I would assume if you’ve had a good working relationship with a client/director/producer etc you’ll keep working with that team. That’s been my experience anyway. I realize AI is cheaper and people will go for that. (I once got a gig where they asked me to take vocals out of a track for some background music. No big deal until I heard the track and the vocal was ‘audio jungle….audio jungle’ haha I declined the gig) if a client values you and can keep you in the budget you’ll have a gig.
  7. I agree with all of this. I have a monthly plan for pro tools solely because I need it for some projects. I do everything in logic, export stems, build the project in pro tools because some sound houses will only work with pro tools. I know it’s the industry standard but I can’t figure out why. Is it the industry standard because it’s the industry standard? I do find it confusing. But to be fair anytime some people are taken out of their work flow it’s a learning curve.
  8. I really think every DAW has its own level of complexity. As far as recording, Logic, like every other DAW, is straight forward. Press record, press stop The fact that Logic comes with so many synths, effects, samplers, etc makes it a no brainer. Especially for $299 (with free upgrades) Apple figured out you can charge more for the hardware (which you can’t pirate) and less for the software making it pointless to pirate. (I’m sure some still do) Logic being an old guys DAW is just not a topic. Billie Eilish doesn’t look like she’s getting ready for Old Age Security. There is a lot to Logic when you start digging into it but as you grow as a musician/technician/producer etc Logic keeps up with you and probably a few steps ahead. If it were simpler I’m sure people would complain about that too.
  9. @David Nahmani i did. Sorry for not updating that. I just contacted my service provider and told them to whitelist all logicprohelp emails.
  10. I disagree. Yes, many posts end with pleasant banter after the problem has been solved but it's always business first. At least in the forums designed to solve user issues. There's enough forums here (The Lounge, Music Showcase, Composition and Creativity) where chatting is more appropriate.
  11. Spot on. Recording an audio guitar track with a drum beat and bass etc (where I started) was easy for a beginner like me. I realized pretty quickly there was no end as far as learning Logic. @David Nahmani you’re exactly right (obviously 🤣) with Alchemy. Four possible samples that can be added granular, additive, etc. is endless. Factor in that you can right click on any parameter and link it to any MSEG, sequencer, LFO, etc boggles the mind. @globetwhen I first realized Logic had no end in sight as far as possibilities my game plan was (and still is) to learn one new thing in Logic every session. You’ll be surprised how fast you amass Logic knowledge and experience. The other option is to use what you need for each session and don’t think about how much there is to the program. It’s your DAW to record YOUR music, not something you have to know everything about. Being a ‘completist’ and trying to know everything isn’t going to happen. (I’m not saying that’s what you’re trying to do). Take what you need for each session, learn something new, check out one or two YouTubers that know what they’re talking about, not every YouTuber. and the biggest safety net, for me at least, is this forum. Other than one other (home automation) forum I can think of, this forum has the fastest response, best advice, and nicest most patient help. just my two cents that now looks like a buck-o-five. Drew
  12. I’m so glad you said this. I had the video in my ‘to watch’ pile forever. I saw the length of the video and decided to wait. Then tried a few times to watch it. ‘a video in need of an editor’ I haven’t tried it with other company’s guitar plug-ins, and I’m assuming this information is based on the neural DSP plug-ins.
