  1. Sorry, I really appreciate the help. Didn't mean to sound that way. All seems to be working now. Not sure what changed. thanks again!
  2. I only have one account on my computers and have never even had to check permissions in over 20 years of doing this. The Preset folder (same path you showed) said System has read and write. Staff & Everyone had read only. I assumed since I am the only Admin/account that was fine. Poking around it now seems Logic has created a folder for my Neural DSP pluing when I said Save As. 4 months working now, it has not done that. Just kept getting back to work and just now trying to deal with the issue. EDIT: It now shows (in the Finder) the folders being created when I open plugins that I have not loaded before. thanks
  3. No, I navigated to the proper folder and saved. I think I had to create the folder in the finder. When I select "Get Info" on some folders, including the main Preset folder they all say "Read & Write" so far.
  4. Just tried with a new amp sim plugin. I did manage to save 2 presets yesterday, and it's not showing them on the LOAd menu. Odd. It went to my Project Template folder. Seems to change.
  5. Got a new Mac Studio (v 12.4) about 4 months ago. Probably the first time ever I did NOT "migrate"... to have clean installs/files etc. I copied folders of most of my saved user presets .... following the folder structure from my older 2013 Trashcan MP. They show up, but I can never choose "Save As Default"... (it's greyed out)... and when trying to save a new user preset (always using Logic's plugin interface) it never stays on the correct folder to save. In fact I can't even "create folder" to save a new category. Any ideas how I can fix these issues? What did I / am I doing wrong. My old systems would always be a t the correct location when called upon to save etc. Confusing. Thanks! Logic 10.7.5 btw
  6. ProQ3, Soothe 2, The Glue 90% of the time. Bypassing Soothe2 shows a drop. Thought v2 was a lot lighter, but still pretty hungry.... even with M1 it seems. I bought that Pluginfo app and it helped show me a few things. Quite a few are not M1 Native yet.
  7. So with a recent project opened "AUHostingService" shows 70%. 1. Does that represent my total plugins (M1 native) used in the session? How would that work with what you said about the % showing one of the cores? I had thought all track(s) not selected/record enabled had the load spread over all the cores? And looking at this song project... my single core is hovering around 65% even with the song stopped. Does that represent my output bus processing (only a blank audio track is selected)? I also had thought that the single core spikes occurred most when I had a track record enabled. Sorry for my confusion. I've been doing this a long time in Logic and still not crystal clear on some details.
  8. Yea I had a checkmark next to their name... as I confirmed each company I used the most b4 jumping in. I went and looked again. I'm on Neutron 3. Looks like they want $199 to upgrade. Just bought it a year ago. And Ozone 9 says Native, so I'm good there.
  9. Yea I started using a Neutron Sculptor de-mud preset on a few things a year ago and I believe that's when I started to think about a new Mac. I had those spikes/overloads on some of my heavier mixes. However, this Mac's single core benchmark is over 2x's the 2013 Trashcan... and I'm running the same sessions so I need to figure it out. I should have lots of headroom... for a while at least.
  10. Hey thanks! Very helpful. I did check all the lists I could find b4 purchasing the Mac Studio. I did need to DL Rosetta because even though companies say they are Native now... the Apps that installs them are still not Native... such as Izotope. The AUHosing info is helpful too. I see both running in my open Template now. "AUHostingService" says 34% and "AUHostingCompatibilityService" says 4%. This is with a fairly large template.. and set to not load unused plugins. Still wondering why my cores/threads seem so high on this new machine. Still more to investigate. Thanks!
  11. Hi all, Got the new Mac Studio (M1) and I'm looking for some clarification on Rosetta and how it all works. I'm trying not to have anything run Rosetta if/when possible. I understand how to check to box in the "Get Info" pane to run Logic in Rosetta, but does Rosetta run at all... say for plugins even if I don't start Logic that way? A little insight would help me move forward. I spent a week installing fresh and yesterday swapped my new Mac with the old one in the studio. I noticed right away how high my single core CPU looked on a few older tracks I opened... it looked about the same usage as my trashcan so I'm wondering why. For instance I have Pod Farm 2 on some tracks in my templates. I got a message they failed in the Plugin Manager (as expected) , but when I clicked on them in the strip they came to life and worked. I thought for sure I was going to lose the usage of them moving to M1. It's nice to know I can load an older project and still get them working but I need to know if they are actually running in Rosetta and how this works so I can use them only when needed. I opened Activity Monitor and saw the few Intel apps running on my system but could not see info for individual plugs. Also on Activity Monitor... when it shows the CPU usage... is that number the total % of the power of the computer, or just a % of the total being used? For instance it showed 28% for UAD Mixer Engine at times. That seems very high if it's a total of the Mac's CPU power. Thanks
  12. Is there a way to start up Logic Pro without 3rd party plugins loading? I have a new studio computer now... so I moved my trashcan into the house. I would like to start up & use Logic, but w/o bringing my ilok back & forth every time. If I need to use the iLok plugs of course I will, but on a day to day basis I would just like to use Logic at home for some minor tinkering. I know I could remove the components folder every time but I'm hoping there is an easier way. Could not find it so far. Thanks
  13. Thanks everyone! This info has helped me a lot. Time to buy!
  14. I am about to upgrade to a Mac Studio and I'm wondering if I need the 64gig of RAM option, since I just looked at Activity Monitor (2013 Trashcan 32 gig) for a song I am mixing and it says Logic is using 26 gigs of ram (I restarted the Logic and the same song still used 22gig). I do use a good sized template but most tracks are not "active". Is the ram usage mostly from things like Kontakt? I just heard that the new M1 ram can load more due to the SoC. I want to understand this better. If I'm using that close to 32 now, I want to future proof my purchase as much as I can. I don't load large orchestras etc. Also currently use about 1.5gig for things like Kemper's Rig Manager, open Youtube videos and others. Thanks!
  15. BTW I set my LG TV to "Game Mode" and it's much better now. I had read about & tried it before but there are settings in 2 areas on the TV's menus. Apparently there is lots of processing going on in the LG that must cause the lag in graphics when using a computer as a source. Fixed both issues... the mouse (which was actually a lag also) and sync. Still a bit there, but much more usable. Thanks
