  1. As I can't edit the first post to add to the title "SOLVED", I'm posting here and referring to my last post, the issue is solved. It was not coming from Logic.
  2. I took time again to test. To resume: I only want to put Logic in record/pause mode and then when I start an external sequencer I want Logic to start recording, so all is in sync. No matter what I do, no matter what setting, it does not work with the Beatstep Pro (BSP). As mentionned earlier, as I know it always used to work fine (I insist), I decided to try with different MIDI controllers/sequencer. I tested with the Keystep Pro (KSP) and it worked right away (!!!). No need to change any setting, apply any key. It just works. I put logic in record/pause mode, I press play on the KSP and logic starts recording. If I wanted to record also at the same time on the KSP, I'd simply put Logic in pause mode and then click record on the KSP (or the BSP). I tried with Keystep and it did not work. As it just worked on the Keytep Pro which is connected to HST3 port on the Mio XL (USB port 3) and it does not with the controllers connected to the other USB host ports on the Mio XL, I checked the settings in Auracle (Mio XL admin so to say). The only difference is I have DIN12 not active on HST3. DIN12 is the MIDI port going to the Pulse+ synth (which plays no role in the game). Abs. no clue why it is interfering***, but if I deactivate this DIN12 port, then the issue is gone. I can start recording from any ext. sequencer! ***and not asking here, as too many factors play a role in the studio. What I'll do is check the MIDI settings on the Pulse+. This was a long journey!
  3. I see, but honestly this is how I ever did. From a drum machine or any external MIDI sequencer using Cubase or Logic for decades (starting with an ATARI back in the 80s). I never assigned any control to start recording. I always had the DAW on pause/record and pressed play on the drum machine or the ext. sequencer. But then I stopped using the DAW for at least one decade and now I'm confronted with numerous simple things that do not work like they used to and have to ask on this forum for help. Also the fact that I had to change the MIDI interface for a Mio XL because all what I had earlier is not supported anymore in recent OS, makes all more complicated. I used to set any machine in a few minutes (believe it or not) without even ever reading a manual and now I'm struggling for hours looking for a solution to set a MIDI environement, set a machine, start a recording etc etc. Waste of time. And on top I'm getting older... Anyway. I'm not giving up for now and ready to ask questions that might sound stupid.
  4. I am using here a Arturia Beatstep Pro. I don't see a function related to my issue*** in the Arturia MIDI control center. ***I press play on the Beatstep Pro and then it starts Logic but also stops the recording function.
  5. I didn't find the simple parameter in the prefs that allows to start+record in Logic when starting from an external controller. The record fucntion is always deactivated once the sequencer starts. But I want it to record, not to only play.

    MIDI issue

Thanx for all the help here, I appreciate. I'll take time to check all what is recommended in the last posts👍

    MIDI issue

I was not able to track the MIDI note output from the DAW going into my Mio XL MIDI interface to the synth with Snoize, only notes that come into the DAW, but anyway, I tested with another synth than the Oberheim Matrix 1000 and with for instance the Waldor Pulse+ it works, all notes are played back by Logic. No issue. It is only doing this with the Matrix 1000 😞 It is not logical to me that all notes of a sequence are played via the Beatstep Pro sequencer, but there's alway at least one note skipped when the same sequence is played back from Logic (or a note is played in Logic via keys). As soon as I move one note up or down, then it's another note that will skip and the note that skipped earlier now works?! I'll leave it here cause I can't see any solution to this.

    MIDI issue

I will check with Snoize. Strange is that all works fine from the midi sequencer. I'll try with another synth and also I'll make a better video asap in better quality showing again the issue.

    MIDI issue

Making the notes longer or changing velocity does not change. I checked before asking here. ou can see on the video that a note that was playing earlier won't play again once another note is moved. But all voices play when they are played by the midi sequencer. It's only in Logic that one note plays or not.

    MIDI issue

I stopped using MIDI a few years back. I used it a couple of decades, but then everytime I want to start something I spend an hour at least trying to understand what is happening without finding the solution for something heavily simple. Most simple thing actually. So I give up again etc etc. Though first I need to ask: If you look at this, could you please tell what is the issue? To me it is very weird. I posted this and now I think I should have tried on another MIDI instrument than the Oberheim Matrix 1000. Though why would it play well from the Arturia sequencer and not from the DAW?
  11. Thank you for all advices. I don't let the MAC or HD go to sleep. All drivers up-to-date. Anyway, I installed Ableton Live now and it works perfectly with the UAD interface. So I'll use Live when I use the UAD to save time and struggling.Thank you for all advices. I don't let the MAC or HD go to sleep. All drivers up-to-date. 12. The Monitor Outs on the Apollo are connected to a mixer connected to active boxes.
  13. Well it seems I was to optimistic in my previous post. I'm making a new track, same settings and it doesn't work. So obv. it had nothing to do with selecting Output 3-4 under the I/O Assignments. Desperate. I'll make some screenshots then. The recording happens on another computer than the one I'm writing this. So I need to transfer screenshots and so on first. EDIT: Well. I trully wonder if this is a bug with Logic. I close the song because I can't find the reason why it won't work, I open a new one again, again from the same template, I record. I playback and now it works. This is something which is really disturbing. I'm doing EXACTLY the same process. There's only 1 track from the same template, only 1 instrument, same notes, nothing changed. Nothing more simple than that. It's so weird. It's such a shame I can't record on video to show that I'm not changing anything except making a new song again. So frustrating! I doubt it's related to the UAD interface. Anyway. This thing gives me headaches.
  14. In my prefs, software monitoring is enabled. In the I/O Assignments, I have the choice via a pulldown between Output 1-2 (Stereo OUT), Output 3-4, Output 5-6 or Output 7-8. "Mirror" is not selected. The settings was on Output 1-2 (Stereo OUT) and if I change it to Output 3-4, then I now can hear the playback from Logic. I don't really understand why I can hear now the sound from Logic through the UAD, but it works!
